    8-4 was successful year one, I think 9-3 was everyone’s hope. It just stings a little more because of how hot we started with Leveon Moss. Let’s continue to get better. Gig ‘em 👍🏼

    Yea.. For a grade for last season B- .. I agree.. That's about right .. I am a little disappointed on how many dudes left the program.. I know we brought in some players .. but we lost some good players.

    I give them a C+ , mainly because of the four-game collapse at the end of the season. But I am really excited about Elko’s second year.

    Commenting at first of video. I'd say no not successful. Had it not gone so well at first probably have different opinion. Losing last 4 meaningful games stinks. Also the SEC kept our hopes up after bad losses for a chance to still make Atlanta. So going many many weeks with really great possibilities to absolutely nothing really was awfull and embarrassing.

      I wouldn’t call it a big success but also wouldn’t call it a failure overall. The end was a failure.

    Felt bad after nd, fun started to rise after Florida. Peaked at lsu. Scar was a bummer but par for the course. Auburn hurt. Texas sucked donkey balls. USC I was numb at that point again.

    I think people are getting caught up in the past and forgetting that this is year one. Additionally, it was Elkos SECOND year as a head coach. Who has ever been a master of their job after two years, no one. 8-4 with a dominant stretch is a huge success especially when you factor in the QB drama. Yes the end was tough and yes losing to those dirty sips ripped my soul out, but we have a TON to build on, we’re bringing back a lot and adding a ton of weapons. My only worry for next year is depth with how many guys we lost.

    8-4 is what I said on Drew Show and this year 10-2 Marcel will be able to throw the ball down field which was the problem with him this year. B- overall for A&M Second year in the system time to kick a little ass next year on a mission not to choke at the end of the season.

    I said in the preseason that 8-4 with this roster would be a fail for Elko and I still stand by that take. The biggest disappointment IMO was not defensive line although that was a disappointment. But the biggest was at quarterback. We didn't have the passing game we should have had and expected to have going into the season. Had every reason to expect our 5 star QB would be a baller in his third year in the program and he looked the part against Missouri. He never looked the same after that game and the coaches not only failed to get that turned around, they never even accounted for what happened. The passing threat alone that we showed against Missouri would have gotten us at least to a 10-2 season. Coach Klein's inability to build on that is a serious concern. His failure to develop Weigman is a serious concern. D line was disappointing. Secondary was disappointing. Moving Bryce to safety was probably a mistake in retrospect and keeping him there while watching Jaydon Hill get burned game after game was coaching malpractice. In spite of injuries, offensive line and running backs deserve credit for marked improvement over last season. Outside of that I have to say the season was a disappointment. Elko walked into a situation where he had a loaded roster (yes there were holes to fill at CB and WR). He's getting guys from the portal but we also have a lot of attrition so I'm not sure the roster is better going into next year. It may be the best he gets in his time here. Who on his staff do we feel good about after what we saw this season? Either coordinator? DL coaches? Secondary? I'd give solid marks to coach Cushing and coach Taylor. Maybe a B- for coach Wiggins. Beyond that I'm going into next season with less confidence than I had going into this season. Hope coach Elko does better in year two.

    Overachieved through 8 games. Underachieved the last 5. C+ or B- overall. Just meh. It's year one, try not to overthink it.
    Ended up about exactly where our roster said it would. 8-5 in the sec. I know many will disagree and that's fine. We started 14 different transfers and played 19 in meaningful snaps. From schools like San Diego State, UAB, Central Michigan, Central Florida, Bowling Green, Kansas, Troy, Tulane, Pittsburgh. Yes, we got a couple of big ones from Bama, Kansas State, Purdue (not a great school but big recruit) etc. It was a solid portal haul, but when you have half a staff trying to put together a roster in half an offseason with 28 portal players, that is sign one. Anyone paying attention to the roster and why things were happening the way they were would have seen an 8-5.
    We returned a terrible 2023 OL (got much better in 2024), lacked offensive skill talent, lost probably our top 4-5 run defenders (Nolen, Jackson, Cooper, Diggs) and had to rely on 6 of the 7 transfer DBs to fill out a 9 man rotation. It was a complete overhaul defensively if you look at the personnel. We have 3 draft picks this offseason, all at the same position (natural 5 techs). Everything about that says 8-5.
    Now, once we started 7-1, 8-5 was a massive disappointment. No doubt, be it Auburn, or USC, we should have found a way to get to 9 wins. So I'd say the only difference is switch out an early season win against a team like Florida or LSU for a late season loss against Auburn, and the season played out almost exactly as it should. Had we just simply beat Auburn, we'd have overachieved IMHO.

      What’s a hype video?

    • @FarmerShane-e7z
      @FarmerShane-e7z 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ I guess we could start with a video that describes a team that simply gave up the last four Power Five games as having had a “culture change.”
      I love your optimism and enthusiasm for the Aggies, but this was a season of which nothing good can be said. I’ve been a fan since my first trip to Kyle Field in 1987, and never have I been less optimistic than now.

    • @Drewtamu
      @Drewtamu  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ that’s not all that was said in the video though. That’s one piece, not the only. I also said culture does not equate to wins or losses.
      Also said that 8 wins was only 1 win off my expected win total, and that the failure at the end of the year was terrible.
      I also called the defense a disaster.
      But there WAS a 7 game winning streak during the season, and the heart and soul of those teams was not present during the collapse.
      The collapse was a failure. The season was not a failure, though it was not a huge success either. I think a C to B grade is fair. And this is just a snapshot in time, this Elko train can go either way.

  • @jaypaul8040
    @jaypaul8040 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Yea it’s tough to not have recent bias. But man what an absolute collapse. I’m not a big ‘culture’ guy that is something we never truly know. For ex if you graded Georgia’s culture without knowing their on field results. It would be an F. So to make it simple for me either you have a winning or losing culture. And these guys absolutely found ways to lose that reminded me of Jimbo/Fran coached teams…the most concerning thing for me is the collapse of the D. Elko is supposed to be the defensive guru. And we had over a quarter of our games. Where guys came out the tunnel with no idea how to stop the most basic things. Letting Peyton Thorne look like Joe Burr Heisman moment on you is just something that really made me think ok. I’m going to have to see it to believe it to this thing probably isn’t getting turned around while Elko is here.

    • @Drewtamu
      @Drewtamu  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I hear ya.
      The end of the season was an absolute failure, but I’m not sure the season as a whole was.
      You’re absolutely right that jury is still out on Elko. The culture piece really means nothing if it’s not the foundation for winning.

  • @agfan6511
    @agfan6511 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Dude stop buying the propaganda. Culture, buy-in, and discipline? Really? This was one of the most penalized teams in the country with a massive missed tackle rate. How many times did Elko hit us with the “we keep preaching ____, and obviously it’s not getting through.”
    This team was worse than the previous year’s team and only won an additional game because of the significantly easier schedule.
    The jury is completely still out on Mike Elko. I see no upgraded culture, buy-in, or increased discipline. And I didn’t see any lack of buy-in in 2023. Those guys played hard and didn’t make as many mistakes as this year’s team.

    • @Drewtamu
      @Drewtamu  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Propaganda!!!
      I can only go off what we’re told and I what we see.
      Culture and buy in is nearly impossible to quantify, you’re right.
      But there were problems behind closed doors the previous 2-3 seasons that have since been made public.
      The jury is completely still out Elko for sure. No question. This rating is a snapshot in time not the end all be all.

    • @agfan6511
      @agfan6511 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ yes, propaganda.
      The life cycle of a college football program is fans get upset that a coach who’s been there isn’t winning enough, fire the coach in some sort of ritualistic human sacrifice (that’s a joke), then we all feel great for a couple years no matter how much the new guy underperforms.
      Then media organs for the program (which is all these insiders are) put out stories that “things are really different now I promise!!” no matter how much the results on the field do NOT show that whatsoever.

    • @Drewtamu
      @Drewtamu  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @agfan6511 I was on board with keeping Jimbo around for one more year. I agree that it can be a ritualistic sacrifice.
      Haven’t really thought of insiders as media organs, but I do take A&M centric or affiliated sources with a hefty grain of salt.
      The reports I am speaking of regarding the previous regime are national media sourced - one on the disorganization of the previous regime and one reporting on the early priorities of the new staff which emphasized building accountability. I’m also speaking to player reported changes in expectations with the new staff.
      I think it’s an important piece of the puzzle that was a reported problem at both of Jimbo’s previous stops. No, “culture”, buy in” the “extra stuff” is not a prerequisite for winning, but I believe it’s an important base for it. And it is beyond simply staying out of trouble, being a choir boy, being a good teammate - the culture I’m speaking to is buying into the program and improving as a football player over time. I don’t think we got enough of that with Jimbo. Of course time will tell, this is only a snapshot in time.
