I think your grades are spot on. Everyone is just immensely disappointed in the d line bc of the expectations vs reality of what we got and it had the widest margin outside of the safety room
I'm not sure optimistic is how I feel, but I think the pieces are mostly there. We don't need to be hasty with any changes. Give Elko a few years to build. But he needs to show a team that improves year to year. I think we are mostly covered at every position as far as serviceable pieces, but we just don't have the star talent; the game breakers that all the best teams have. To make a playoff next year we will have to have a few guys emerge and really exceed expectations. Someone like Scooby Williams or Dalton Brooks really taking over this defense. A guy like Mario Craver breaking out and leading the SEC in receiving yards and/or touchdowns. Maybe Le'veon Moss picking up where he left off and continuing to become a guy no one wants to tackle. Maybe its Marcel channeling his inner Johnny Football. We will need some star talent to emerge and be one of the best at their position in the nation.
This is fair. Gonna need some key guys to progress in a big way, especially defensively. Curious to see who steps up as pass catchers…just because you add good guys on paper doesn’t mean they’ll magically produce. Who gets it?
I thought the grades were pretty spot on! Elkos defense reminds me a lot of the cowboys(Dan Quinn’s defense) from last year He’s willing to give up size on the DLine to have a quicker defense That may work for a short period of time…but eventually you’ll struggle w/ physical teams who like/can run the football Which is what happened to us this past season ND, Texas, auburn, & South Carolina all ran the football down our throats We only stopped teams who stats wise couldn’t run the football consistently That’s why I believe in having big NGs to help stop the run Idc if they aren’t as mobile lol…we missed McKinley Jackson & Raikes big time Texas I think had like 3 dudes who were 320 or more & they had a great run defense That’s the key in stopping the run
Yeah we need those big bodies. I think Elko wants to get those guys. Just didn’t have them this year. I think Chace Sims and/or DJ Sanders could become that.
@ sims probably needs a year to bulk up But I do believe sanders can play right away since he already looks like a NG Reminds me a lot of Bobby brown who started out at SDE before switching inside
@asianpersuasion9646 I’d be surprised if sims is a year 1 contributor both because he needs to add size and that Rink and Sanders are closer to ready But he has the perfect frame to be a nose.
@ I do think rink will start out at SDE due to his athleticism Could potentially move inside later in his career I would just feel a lil better if they added a couple more interior guys Maybe the spring portal will have more options
I think D relative to expectations but relative to the county B. Maybe an even worse grade the last 4 games. We needed them to be an A. Would have elevated everything.
This defense is in HUGE trouble along the DL. They have ZERO DT SDE depth. They will be gashed on the ground and be the weakest link. Notre Dame might rush for 400 yards v A&M next year.
Kyle Field looks pretty good today🥶🥶
marco jones may have to get in there on that line
Yessir! Dude he looks legit
Thanks for the Aggies football video updates in the offseason 🔥
Imo the person I look forward to watching most next year is scooby Williams. I consistently heard his name called almost every game.
Good call. He probably has a chance at a good leap in production.

Bless me w your A&M info, ball-knower

Like the summary. Remain confident in Elko.
Me too. But have to acknowledge the devils advocate side.

I’m giving Dline a C. I think what we did with them schematically was atrocious, but their inability to finish sacks and tackle was unacceptable.
Yeah and it was much worse the last 4 games of the year for whatever reason.
The defense line was a D very disappointing

Yep. Gotta be the number 1 weakness right now. Followed by secondary questions.
Shemar Stewart a freak athlete but he isn't good
