When you said is he gonna kill his old version I was really suprised that you catched that. Well it's not the exact thing but its okey. In his first mixtape Suga had a song called The Last. In the lyrics he was saying "Min Yoongi is dead. I killed him." In the song he was talking about ho his hunger of succes fallows and swallows him or sth like that. But in his second mixtape with this song he actually told us that he relized Min Yoongi is the person who will stay with him forever. When he relized that he kinda killed the king version of himself. That arrogant version of him. (plz correct me if ım wrong guys :>)

i always thought "the last", was more about his struggles. (deression, social anxiety, ocd, aarently even suicidal thoughts, but that's not specifically mentioned, the lyrics just point to it) "min Yoongi is dead, i killed him" means, the happy innocent (old) yoongi, that didn't had to suffer all this...
in this video he's killing the old version of him (king) who has become a tyrant, he explains it a bit in the mv making video, it's been a while, so i don't remember all the details...😅

      @CaspiDrako 3 ปีที่แล้ว +43

I also think that the more modern version in turn also represents his roots as he started in a position that is far from a ruler position. He is not only killing the arogant version of himself but accepting the part of himself that he was before that time that he had originally "killed" in the last. Like you think the king is going to kill the "lesser" version of himself, but then the "lesser" part wins instead. Like he restricted or accepted his old old self and doesn't accept/like his arrogant self any longer. Yours and this that I just explained are my interpretations. Even though he's at the top now, he's still the same guy who started at the bottom.

The funny thing about this MV is that BigHit originally planned to make it very basic and simple since it's for a free mixtape, but Yoongi came to the production team and listed all the things he wanted to do for the MV. Like he did proper research on swords, guns and whatnot, he came up with the scar thing. Pretty sure the two identities thing was his idea as well. Also, he said in one interview that he had the whole image of the MV when he was producing the song, so he did pretty much everything with Daechwita.
About the king/commoner theme. No one but Yoongi himself knows for sure, but probably the king is his old self (since in his first mixtape he was blond, called himself a king and said that he killed Min Yoongi). But the new version, dark heared Yoongi is more down-to-earth, he has new priorities (I want to put my feet on the ground). Also, the king is all alone, while the commoner has friends and supporters. If you noticed, there are six more people (so in total seven) with the commoner.
There is another interpretation that the king is the industry that always downplayed BTS, and the commoner is Yoongi who fought his way to the top to overthrow the king. I think both theories make sense, but the first one sounds more like Yoongi imho.

No bighit , was the director , in all the mixtapes MV the director asked them if they are ok of his idea. In this case suga wasn't. The director always try to put what they want. Like for example jhope wanted the CNS be like that , he even picked the dancers. RM wanted an animation for mono ( he was too busy and wanted to released it so much ). That's why is so hard and it takes A LOT of time to do a mixtape , the members literally have to be producers executives / directors and get the people to do it ( a lot of paper work) for the first time for a whole project. That's why for the rappers doesn't take much time cuz they are used to that since they already had done similar stuff for bts in the past. But for the vocal line it's like the first time , that's why they take too much time to release and also they don't feel secure enough. So imagine jk is so perfectionist and he wants like 4 MV with different theme and hair colors , vibe or stuff like that, that's why the members say he would never release it lol.

I totally agree with you on your first analysis of the king vs commoner and what Yoongi wanted it to represent. I just wanted to touch on the "friends and supporters" bit - the 6 men DO represent the other BTS guys but did you know Yoongi included the 8th person as a female to represent ARMY. She gives him a key for the car to take him to confront the king, which is apparently how he feels about what Army have given him; the key to his future.

that scar face(there was rule in old Korean dynasty that person with humble background or scars & deformed body couldn't sit on throne, They used to get exiled) & portrayed as a bloody tyrant after getting power story is kind of inspired from Kdrama Scarlet Heartryeo's king Wang So which also kind of inspired from Gwangjong of Goryeo, a real king of Korea that laid the foundation of fair & stronger Korea with acts like slave reform act, establishing national test which allowed government officials to be recruited based on merit & scholarly attainment rather than family or political connection. he enacted a series of major reforms which were viewed as unfavorable to the aristocracy. not too long ago, he was seen the history painted him, a bloody tyrant who killed his brother(no, he didn't kill them all. the only brother he killed was his half brother, 9th prince & other relatives who were purged in the rebellion) & suppressing people of power. while he was merely squashing a rebellion by those clans who abused their power & military officials who were not happy to lose their military strength, to lose their slaves & their status. so they staged him as a rebellion. It could also be inspired from Tony Montana, villain of movie scarface.

And things like smallpox would also leave scars. That person even mentioned a few names of kings who had scarred faces. But as I didn't check that information, I'm not insisting upon it)) Anyway, Yoongi himself said that there is no deep meaning behind the scar

YES. I've been spending a lot of time going back and forth between Interlude: Shadow and Daechwita, and I feel like they're linked... Suga's shadow-self is that ambitious and attention-hungry part that will keep reaching for more even when he's sick of it... and in Daechwita we get commoner Agust D saying he's been to the heights, he's had his fill, and now he's ready to set his feet on the ground. And he's willing to kill his power-crazed shadow-self to do it.

  • @erume5776
    @erume5776 3 ปีที่แล้ว +64

Daechwita (대취타) is a group of traditional instruments that are played during the king's ceremonial processions. it was performed during military marches or when the army won the war. only the military was allowed to play it at the time. but here 대취타 itself is turned on its head as a symbol of rebellion against the severe king. the executioner is on the rebellion side to, you can see him and Yoongi's character meeting eyes in the village in the beginning of the mv. and also notice that all that black clothed people which were kneeling to the king (but were still humiliated) in the end shaking their heads to the rebellion leader singing Daechwita. they support him out of choice, not fear or force. they don't want their king too
the king is aka Agust D: he is blond like Yoongi was during Agust D - first mixtape, that got him an immense fame. a quote from "The Last": "And Min Yoongi? I killed him" - this is Agust D words about getting through the hardships and use them to fire the greed that was a weapon to get to the point he is today. he had to create a persona that could take it and shrug everything off. so Agust D is the persona that gave him power and fame, took him to the heights he's at. The king is full of himself, he is rough, doesn't care about those who's below him, killing people if he doesn't like them (execution scene, boxes with heads). That's the representation of what he could have become under the industry and success / what he is turning in to / what people have made him out to be
the rebellious one is Min Yoongi, his commoner self who's there to take the control back and kill the king and to over the throne, to force his real self to remember where he came from. he is the "reality check" to "put my feet on the ground", show that he still values his roots and his journey
also it's quite similar to the Jung's Map of The Soul theme (Shadow MV is Yoongi's solo with BTS).
    * Jung said simply that the shadow is whatever we don’t want to know about ourselves, suppressed content in the unconscious mind. Persona - The development of a viable social persona is a vital part of adapting to, and preparing for, adult life in the external social world.
and the inner struggles with his self is also prevalent throughout D-2 (second mixtape). some qoutes: "Do I really even enjoy making music?", "I only started this because I liked music, but the descriptors they add to my name are burdensome at times." that reminds me of how many time "king" is in the Daechwita lyrics. it puts hum on top and also puts a pressure on him to maintain the image, that may be not who he really is. he's not a savage or angry person, but this persona can consume him
more on the cultural references :
0:36 /Il wol o bong do/ behind the king's chair in Joseon era has Moon on the left side, Sun on the right side, waterfalls & pine trees on both sides, mountain with 5 peaks and waves in the front. This painting is usually done when the king sits on the throne, it means prosperity of royal family under gods' protection and king's dignity
MV was shot in Daejanggeum Park in Yongin, Gyeonggido
the gun in Yoongi's hand is actually colt model 1860 ARMY. i don't know if it was on purpose, but hehe
both characters share the same scar to signal that they are one. that's why one of them is hiding under the hat at the market place, bc he looks like the king. also in k-dramas a man with a scar couldn't become a king (a symbolic artistic touch that is not a historic fact). though Yoongi said he wanted a scar bc it just looks cool 😄
there's a lot more but go to bookish theories :)
sorry for typos or mistakes 🙌

      @Krostovik 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

This was an amazing explanation. There has been so many theories going around that is hard to decide and understand just one, but you summarized it well enough. The ARMY gun you mentioned is definitely not a coincidence, I think he chose that as a representation of us ARMY, and we are the weapon to destroy that tyrant… or something along those lines, but the fact that he included that specific weapon makes more sense.

The King represents his past self and the other is his present self. The King is very self-centered and is basically a tyrant or oppressive ruler. The commoner basically plotted a whole scheme to kill the oppresive king. You may have not noticed it, but at the beginning, commoner suga made eye contact with the butcher. That butcher is the same person as the executioner at the end. The eye contact implies that they have something planned. At the end, instead of supposedly killing commoner suga with that sword, the executioner cuts the ties in his hands instead, freeing him, then giving him a gun to kill his past self and past bad habits.

And when the king version of himself puts his thumbs down, he was immediately tied and blindfolded for execution in the same clothes as he was in the car. However, old-self was casual when he was walking to his death, almost like everyone had his back; unlike the mad king. What do you think? :D

Korean royalty could not be scarred, so that’s part of what the facial scar is about. When Suga hit Jin as he was walking through the village, Jin swung around hitting Jungkook behind his head with a fishing pole. Jin having a fishing pole is a bit iconic in and of itself, so it’s comical. My take on the end is that the tyrannical king, who looks madder and more off kilter as the video progresses, with his hair all loose by the end, is the unnecessary future for someone who has reached the great success Suga has, and he put an end to it. He may be exceptionally skilled and confident, but he’ll never be a power hungry, maniacal jerk about it. His skill is so well captured in the lyric about time being money, because his time is worth far more than that. 💜 I enjoy your reactions!

I known people already pointed it out, but I just wanted to add that South Korean dramas and movies are based significantly in the historical genre. They aren't documentaries, they are docudramas with a lot of them not being necessarily historically accurate. They are referred to as a specific genre called "Sageuk", and you can look it up on wikipedia to get a better understanding. Thus, Koreans are raised watching historicals and dress up in traditional attire on the regular. As such, there are areas consistently set up for filming, with you already having people note the Korean Folk Village, aka Yongin Daejanggeum Park for this MV, which is basically used by the South Korean channel MBC to do its Sageuk filming. Other locations include Gyeongbok Palace, which is closed every Tuesday for both maintenance as well as facilitate filming. For depicting the Joseon Dynasty period you have Mungyeong Saejae, the is is used mainly by the South Korean channel KBS; as well as Gwanghalluwon Garden, SeongyoJang House, Sinseong-ri Reed Field, Munheonseowon, The house of Choi Champan, Boseong Green Tea Field Daehan Dawon, & Pocheon Art Valley just to name a few. In fact, there are modern filming locations as well. For South Korean drama/movie lovers, they have tours that take you through all these sites. So, in short, lol... it's very common. ;)

I think part of what makes this video so compelling is how strong the narrative is. It's not in english, but the storytelling is so strong you can still understand exactly what is going on, and there are a million and one small details in the shooting of the video itself that lends to it.
As far as the concept- it's essentially the inner turmoil within himself between King Suga- a tyrannical, greedy monster who steps on his supplicants and kills dissenters, and a confrontation between a more authentic version of himself, a man who came up in the industry in a poor company and fighting for every inch of success and recognition. He has often spoken about how he has feelings of greed- desiring more, always, and that that scares him- it's not a part of himself he wants to give in to.
there are a ton of cultural nods in this as well, but I don't think i can explain them all enough to do it justice, and i'm positive other ARMY will be happy to fill in there.

    • "Daechwita" is a traditional Korean marching song, played when the king or high-ranking officials visit, or welcome important guests or guests from afar (coming by sea). It is played for the exercise of marching and training as well.
    • "Goryongpo" is one of the king's costumes. He has a 5-finger dragon embroidered on his shoulders and chest. Red, navy blue, gold, green, varied colors depending on the era. "Rei Gwanghae" (used in lyrics and MV) used black and navy blue. Suga is wearing
[+] a fusion style of them. About the costumes: King - dragon with 5 fingers. Prince - dragon with 4 fingers. Elder son of prince - dragon with 3 fingers. In the MV for "Daechwita", Suga's gonryongpo has a dragon with 4 fingers.[+] It could mean nothing, just a fantasy, but... What if the blonde Suga from the MV is the fake king? 🤔
    • Agust D-2's reference to "Gwanghae" and the movie Masquerade (2012): - Gwanghae was a king of the Joseon dynasty. He had many difficulties in life due to political factions. He is often portrayed as a tyrant, but in modern days he is considered [+] one of the wisest kings rather than a tyrant. - Movie "Masquerade" (2012) It's a fictional period movie about Gwanghae secretly ordering her secretary to hire a man who looks like him to avoid constant death threats. Later, the tension increases [+] between the two Gwanghae. In the case of the MV, this film's plot looks a lot like the case of the blond Suga and the black-haired Suga, in which the "king" - which might be false, according to the dragons in clothing issue we explained earlier - try to kill the one with black hair. [+] However, the black-haired one - which can be the real king or real Gwanghae - gets up and shoots the blonde, coming out the winner in the end.• Also, he (Gwanghae) is one of the most popular kings, who is often portrayed as a tyrant in dramas with Yeonsan. Gwanghae and Yeonsan are the only kings of the Joseon dynasty who have been dethroned and do not have temples named after them, like Sejong.• Currently, Gwanghae (15th king) has been re-evaluated as one of the wisest kings of the Joseon dynasty, as he had great ones achievements when he was a prince. But, he became paranoid when he became king and made many people suffer. He was deposed by a coup.• In contrast, Yeonsan (10th king) was notorious for mass murdering the elite and their kin (he even dug up the dead to kill them again) in revenge for his mother, the queen deposed. During his reign he was extravagant and women neglected their duty. A K-ARMY said that Yoongi's sword dance in Daechwita's MV resembles Yeonsan more than Gwanghae, so we've added additional information about him as well. • About jewelry: From the 3 kingdoms era to Joseon - Gwanghae dynasty - earrings they were very common jewelry for women and men. The Silla dynasty is especially known for its fine jewelry. At Joseon, earrings were popular even among young men. In 1572, the king banned men who pierced their ears to practice Confucianism-basically, an appreciation of morality. The K-drama "Hwarang" - in which V acted - takes place in the Silla dynasty, and "Daechwita" takes place in the Joseon dynasty. Even with the similarity of earrings worn on Silla, people at Joseon wore similar designs, as shown in Suga in the MV. • Mang na ni is an enforcer in the Joseon dynasty. His dancing and drinking isn't just for the MV, it's part of their ritual. If you watch period dramas, you can see them drinking, dancing, pouring drink on their sword before executing criminals - in the MV one of the criminals was the black-haired Suga, so much so that the "king" (blond Suga) points his thumb down in disapproval of the criminal's attitude.{END} 💜 ©️BTSARMY_Salon

This is my favorite MV ever!
For me, it's like this. He went through so many struggles at the beginning of his career and had to be so focused on making it, getting money, being successful. Then along came the haters to try to drag him down, but he became so successful that they are nothing to him now. Now his main enemy his himself, the fame, the money, handling the "mad king" side. He was looking up, up up, now he just wants to put his feet on the ground. So he kills that side of himself and takes control of his life.
Yes, it's so beautiful. I love the juxtaposition of old and new. How the king becomes more unhinged over time. The facial expressions. How you don't really know what's happening until the end. All the cultural and historical references I learned about from the "Explained by a Korean" video.
Suga is a true artist and the way he expresses himself in all the different aspects of this song and video just blows me away. There are just layers and layers to it. As a musician, I already think the song is a masterpiece. But combining it with the visual art of the MV takes it over the top. It reminds me why I love music and the arts so much.

My take on the story is that the Royality Suga: The King... But the king is a merciless tyrant. This is the persona that Suga has been put upon, held high and put on a pedestal.. This could also be the darker side, His shadow.... Then the boss Min Yoongi, comes from the poor and the streets... which is also another side of Suga. KInda like two sides of the same coin. So while the Tyrant runs ramaging, The Boss has a job of figuring out how to take him down for the good of everythings else... In the end... He using a pistol (which by the way the name of the gun is called ARMY) to keep the tyrant from doing further damage. The scene literally writes Agust D uses Army to keep Suga in check. Love this MV, and I loved your reaction to it.... and all the pretty scenes..... Thank you for all the reactions that you do!!! Can't wait for the next one. Thank you again. Just thought I should add my thesis on daechwita here lol- Fun fact: In most ancient civilizations the thumbs up or down was performed by a ruler, either during a court ruling or an organized death tournament. The thumbs up meant that the man who fought or was on trial for death could continue living, thumbs down meant he would be put to death. Another fun fact, Min Yoongi (Agust D, suga, lil meow meow) is one of the last living descendants of the Min dynasty. So, technically if the dynasties were still around, he would be a ruler or aristocracy. Also, "Daechwita" is a traditional song that would be played on the arrival and exit of someone of the ruling family, especially during the Joseon era, which is when this video is taking place based on clues throughout the MV, such as the dragons everywhere and their traditional garb, especially the headpieces. Throughout the video you notice that there are MANY dead and headless people (including a head strung up in the courtyard). This signifies the beginning of the tyrant's rule, who further cements it by disrespecting and even stepping on the people (hooded figures in the courtyard representing his kingdom's subjects) who bow to him. He also has a scar, which is seen as bad or disgusting back in the Joseon era, and as such, men with scars were not allowed to rule. The man with the black hair hides his identity with a Sa Gat instead of a regular Gat, because it was bigger and used quite often by emigrants and prisoners to hide facial features. As the story progresses, he is given a red coral and jade key, (VERY precious materials in the Joseon era) which signifies he is a member of the royal family, as only the highest of aristocracy can waste their money on a key made from these materials. The one giving the key to him is speculated to symbolize a member of ARMY. As he continues on, he gains the support of the working class people and organizes a coup. When he confronts the king, the king lets his hair down, which was a BIG no no in the Joseon era. Men of the aristocracy always wore their hair up, and this is seen as a sign of the king finally losing it (AKA going psycho). He sentences the rebel to death, but as he is about to die, the executioner, who has been by the king's side all this time, (Who is also the butcher the rebel makes eye contact with in the beginning and who has been secretly sympathizing with the rebel movement since the beginning) gives a Hwaseung Chong (Traditional gun in the Joseon era) to the rebel, who then kills the king, signalling the end to his tyrannical reign. It is also a sign of the new coming in to replace the old, as the old tyrant uses a traditional sword. MOST IMPORTANT FACT: The two men fighting in the back are Jin and Jungkook who wormed their way on set and asked to be in the music video lmao

Agust D/SUGA is ranked as one of the most influential producers and songwriters in South Korea, who won multiple awards over the past few years, including best producer. He debuted at #9 on Billboard Hot 100 Songwriters Chart. He became the first male soloist in history to have a song and album reach No.1 on iTunes in 100 countries each. He is ranked Billboard's Top solo Korean Album Artist of 2020. His mixtape "D-2" debuted at #11 on Billboard 200. And there is just a few of his achievements.
He has two self-produced mixtapes: "Agust D" (2016) and "D-2" (2020), which broke several records on music charts worldwide. He uses his platform to talk about important topics and most of his lyrics touch such subjects as mental health, social issues, the contrast between dreams and reality, etc.
To put this simply, in this MV king is his past self. The other one is his present self. So he shot his past self. "Daechwita" is a genre of Korean traditional military music, which was played to announce the arrival of king.
He also produces/writes a lot of songs for BTS as well as for other top artists.

The end of this video will make more sense after reacting to more of his rap. He sums it up in the grou song "Magic Shop"" where he says, "My greed that was my weapon suffocated me and also became a leash". He is referring to constantly comparing himself to others, wanting to be the top. Here in Daechwita he says, while bound, he's gone so high he now wants to put his feet back on the ground. By killing the tyrant king, he frees himself from the binds. Of comparison and it's pressures.

So the story behind the scar -
As armys like to form theories and dissect everything we came up with the theory that
    1) A person could never become a king/queen if they had a scar or any sort of imperfection on their face or body.
So even though he has a scar he dethroned the king and took his place. Also symbolising his newer imperfect version taking over his older self
But then Suga told in an interview that he wanted the scar because it looked cool.
(and like that all our dissection went down the drain) 😅
PS-Kudos to you to spot the bts members in the back 👏🏻

Yes on location, its a permanent set where they film historical dramas. For the sword dance Suga practice for 3 days to learn it plus he really has royal blood.

Just to add this here as the person deleted their comment. Lots of people say Yoongi is a decadent of royalty because of his surname Min of the Min clan but that is extremely ignorant.
As the clan isn't equivalent to royalty and there's very few Korean surnames because of Japan take over that caused many to change their surnames to Japanese than back to ANY Korean surname once the war was over so just because they share a last name means shit really. Not to mention most Korea royalty would be seen as betrayers to Korea not as this lofty western ideal.
The Independence from Imperial Japan and war between North and South. During the time, many royal families were disappeared or not anymore distinguishable.
During the time that Korea was colonized by Japan, many royal families were disappeared if they wanted Korea to be independent from Japan. However, *some royal family could keep their properties and social status since they tried to be a side for Japan. We called them “친일파”. In Korean society, these people are being considered betrayers,* and not really accepted. In fact, they could take a side for Japan since they have power. If not? it might be hard to become a betrayer. None of them really can officially say their families tried to take a side for Japan. I guess, since imperial Japan didn’t want powerful families who are not their side, many of the remained royal families are betrayers. It is hard to know them because they may want to hide the fact they were from royal family
Moreover, during this time, imperial *Japan made the policy that Korean required to have Japanese name. Many Koreans made Japanese last and first name. After Korea was independent, they made Korean names again.* When they changed their last name, *they want to have a powerful last name. This is why so many Koreans have the same last names “Lee” or “Kim”. Interestingly, the last name “Lee” is the last name that Korean king had. Although all “Lee” are not from the same origin,* most of current “Lee” is from Korean king’s origin, which may not be real. This is another reason it is so hard to find royal families. These name changes massed up for finding our origins.
In addition, there were extremely conflicts between capitalism and socialism among us. We were divided, and we had a war. The war was extreme. *Many official documents to find our origins were disappeared during the war.* This made even more hard to find royal families.
*They may be alive, but they may not know that they are from royal families.*

So, daechwita was basically the king's processional music to announce that he was coming; Yoongi sampled actual such music in the track.
Eyyy, you noticed the Jinkook cameo! It's even funnier because it's basically just them in real life, lmao. And Jin has a thing about fishing, so that's probably why he was carrying the rod.
Fans all theorized that the scar represented how he wouldn't have been able to be king, but then Yoongi came along and said he just thought it looked cool 😅
The drawing on the scroll when he mentions "Bang Si Hyuk PD-nim" in the lyrics is an infamous fandom joke that started when Jungkook doodled it way back in 2014. Like most things about them, it started out simple and has by now shown up everywhere (it even made it into a company video recently!).
A number of others have explained the symbolism of the two versions of him, so I'll spare you mine and settle for recommending his song "The Last" (fair warning, it deals with some heavy mental health stuff). He very much masterminded the whole MV though, down to doing research on the blades, having them made, and learning the sword dance.
If you like historicals and period pieces, you should check out the K-Drama "Hwarang." It stars several big names (both actors and idols), including Kim Taehyung/V of BTS, and it leans fairly heavily on the romance, but it's also hilarious and the bromance is just *chef's kiss*.
The shooting sketch for this is great and definitely worth watching. There's also a separate Bangtan Bomb of him practicing the sword dance!

Thank you for your inputs! It is always interesting to have your perceptive and technical view on the shots. It's interesting to see how the king could represent what he can technically become/be (so future/present) again because of his current wealth and notoriety but like you said the king is in the past (sword) while the criminal/poor, the more humble one that could represent him in the past (before he was famous) is actually a man of the present (gun). Of course, the actual representation is the king is his younger self when he got full of pride because of his success and the criminal is him now but I find it interesting how we can interpret it in different ways. This song is basically him saying no matter how much money he has, how famous he is, he will now stay true to himself.
There is a behind the scene video where they also talk about the meaning and story a little bit more and you can see the set (this location is a popular location for historical drama and movies) and a little bit of the cameras as well, it has English lyrics: th-cam.com/video/KWRJ8CUBsXI/w-d-xo.html
Also if you are interested (not for a video specifically but if you personally want to understand the cultural aspect of the video a little bit more) there is this video that explains it well : th-cam.com/video/JayEtmyXVpo/w-d-xo.html

Bighit does a great job creating their music sound into visual atmosphere. If you notice in the second verse where Yoongi was blindfolded with the fire, the song became a lot more relaxed and cooled down, there we so the cold colors and more relaxed and long shots so just as the song "calmed down" The video did too. Also BTS do a great job when filming their videos. They know how they look good and the camera loves them. Also the whole video was shot on location, they didn't build any sets. This was in fact part. 2 to Agust D 's storyline! He has a 2016 mixtape with two MVS. A video I would recommend is Run, the whole thing is shot like a movie that follows a storyline and it's so cool. Also blood sweat and tears is a really pretty video (it has a Japanese version too but it's a lot more trippy) Lastly I recommend Singularity it's even prettier than Daechwita mv.

    oh yayyy Daechwitaaa
King Agust D is the "old" version of him, who is filled with pride for all he has achieved and dark hair Agust D is the new version who decided to "put his feet on the ground", as he mentions in the song
so he kinda humbles himself when he shoots in the end

the scar doesn't have a deeper meaning, he just thought it'd look cool and he "wanted it to be shocking when he lifted his face" - that's what Yoongi said in the 'D-2' Mixtape Interview', so I'd actually recommend watching it alongside with the shooting vid :))

I don't know if anybody has told you. You asked abt the fiming location. Yes, it is a set for filming dramas/movies set in the Old Kingdom of Korea. The place is called Dae Jang Geum Park (some parts are also open to Tourists). The old Korea was governed by a Monarchy system and I guess in order to preserve the cultural heritage, the modern government encourages films being made based on those eras. The set (buildings, dirt roads. marketplace etc) is the replica of the real buildings. The one you referred to as "temple" is actually the replica of the King's Palace. This filming site belongs to one of the main broadcast stations in S.Korea.

You just gave me an idea about what this video about: the king is the global superstar letting the fame go to his head, ignoring his humble past, the rebel is the old Suga coming to kill that jetset part of himself, using a gun that happens to be an ‘army’ something model. So his fans are helping him stay true to himself, and by being real he is superior to that glossy version of himself.

Korean traditional military music, Daechwita (大吹打)
Daechwita is a music that was used as an accompaniment when the king came or the army marched in the Joseon Dynasty.
The name of the last gun that Suga shot was "Army"
    Colt army model 1860

This video actually is giving a metaphor for Suga’s career. The king representing the music industry and kpop industry looking down on them for being a small company. And the actual Yoongi fighting the king trying to prove to then that he can do it. He’s basically saying that he’s taking over the music industry or that’s what I interpret from it. And to add to it, daechitwa (sorry if I spelled that wrong) is an instrumental they play when over throwing the king. If I’m correct.
