- Time Team officially returns for its first brand new episode in a decade. New presenters Dr Gus Casely-Hayford and Natalie Haynes join team members old and new to investigate an Iron Age settlement in Cornwall with mysterious underground passages, known as a fogou.
Armed with new technology, and with help from Site Director James Gossip and the Meneage Archaeology Group, Time Team have just three days to shed light on this fascinating prehistoric site on the Lizard Peninsula. Can they do it?
Day Two (Saturday 19th March at 6pm GMT): • NEW EPISODE | TIME TEA...
Day Three (Sunday 20th March at 6pm GMT): • NEW EPISODE | TIME TEA...
** ABOUT TIME TEAM **
Time Team is a British archaeology series that originally broadcast on the UK's Channel 4 for 20 series, and countless specials. Over the years, the team excavated over 220 sites, from back gardens to Buckingham Palace. The show has now returned to TH-cam, thanks to the incredible support of thousands of worldwide fans on Patreon.
Series 21 (Season 21) of Time Team follows two incredible new digs, each released in extended 3-part episodes exclusively on the Time Team Official TH-cam channel. The first dig explores a mysterious Iron Age site in Cornwall; the second investigates a huge Roman villa on the estate of a Tudor castle in Oxfordshire.

@@marycoll6015 Yes of course. They will be up there for you to re-watch whenever you like!
Now there's new Time Team? word shall spread - there are countless fans that won't yet be aware! posted to my facebook :)
I am beyond excited. Watching from Australia 🇦🇺 I want sure whether it would be available here. Thank you ❤️
I’m so beyond happy to finally be able to watch Time Team again! I am a Patreon member and this is the second no wait third time I’ve watched this episode and I was happy and excited at the first time I saw it! Thank you to everyone on Time Team and my fellow Patreon for this precious gift.
This is so surreal! I can't believe Time Team is back! Anyone else love that the field belongs to 'Victor'. A lovely coincidence. Victor, gone but not forgotten ❤️
Probably not named after a person but a possible civil war battle, "The Victor" after leaving the Little Dennis fort .
I had that exact same thought!
I love Victor! R.I.P. 🌹
For a split second, that's the Victor I also thought of. Really missed his art in the later seasons.
Lets not forget Mick, the man who made everything possible from the start. They're running these new episodes in the old fashioned way (before it became what he left), which would've made him proud I'm sure!
Not going to lie, I miss Tony, Phil, and Mick 😢, but this is such a worthy successor series, love the new presenters. Great to see the advances in the older team, and the passion of the new members.
It is not the same...without the Goods of the series. I really found the voice of the background like a robot.. Lacking off passion..
Miss them very much but yes these people will do
@@auntieruthwarrick2191 Not in my view.

Agree. The old team IS the show. The chemistry, Tony's voice. Its just not the same.
@@Friggle_Dee i so agree It s like the band Journey with out Steve Perry or Queen with out Freddy just a No go for me
I've seen every episode of Time Team multiple times. There is something about the show and the people on it that soothes me. Some nights when I can't sleep, I'll put an episode on and just listen to it with my eyes closed until I drift off. I must be getting old and soft because when I started watching this new episode and saw some familiar old faces, it actually brought tears to my eyes. The new show is great, and I can't wait for episode two tomorrow! Thank you so much for bringing back my favorite show. Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦
Cheers from me too……..on Vancouver Island!
I've seen them all several times, if i need a nap now i shuv one one
Been dealing with insomnia for years. TT has been my safe place/comfort blankie all the way. Took Classical Studies BA, so TT is soul food.
so soothing i am able to fall asleep. if i wake up i just hit the replay.
@@lizriddalls8603 Exactly the same here! I'm so giddy the show is back. And WOW this new tech. I'm glad so many of the OG crew are on board too. It feels like Time *Travel* Team 😂.
Victor & Mick, RIP 💔
Tony, you're always missed but I like the new host. He's got such a soothing voice and great enthusiasm. I wonder if he'll hassle them the way Tony did when things don't turn up as planned? 😁
Phil! I hope we get a little Phil.
Stewart is back! I really missed him and his analyses in the last two seasons. I'm really looking forward to what he comes up with.
R.I.P. Mick and Victor
I know this may seem like a small thing, but I'm so happy that the original music is being used. Thanks for that 💗
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! Netflix need to support this!
This is like re-visiting somewhere you lived as a child. Some new faces, some familiar ones, but the heart of the place is the same. I nearly cried.
Time team started on tv when I was considering a career. Accidentally lead me to archaeology and then artefact conservation. I loved how you managed to stress importance of research and record keeping, despite being squished by the medium of tv and all that comes with it.
Over the years ran into a fair few of the original team, who have all been lovely/professional/a great laugh. Including dear Mick, who was indeed wearing a stripped jumper. Not just for tv as it turns out.
Thank you to everyone who was involved originally and to everyone involved this time around. You inspired so many of us into a mad and insecure heritage sector, filled with uncertainty, little funding and some of the best people on earth. I’m coming to the end of contract on my dream job, the sector is out of money so there is little chance of being able to stay, but it’s been nearly 25 years and I’m so lucky to have had that. Thank you.
I've watched Time Team EVERY NIGHT since it went off air. #1 USA fan! OMG can't wait for this. I NEVER STOPPED BELIEVING 😍
i found it during covid lockdown, and holy crap i was missing out! awesome program
There are Soo many of us. I feel honored that Maryland hosted them in the US.
Me too! I have seen all the Time Team shows over and over again. I just have been waiting for the NEW shows, and re watching all their past shows. They are are my therapy.
I love them all. ❤️🙏❤️
I'm in the UK and I utterly love that so many of you in America love Time Team too! I never imagined when watching big US shows and Hollywood films? that American's were loving a UK show like Time Team! - I guess I imagined American's would find it too slow - I was clearly wrong!
@@JohnnyWednesday lol - and you also have Dr Who and Sherlock! Don’t short change yourself.
Smart, intelligent programming which assumes the audience is smart enough to keep up and doesn't talk down.
Bravo...
Oh gosh, this ticked so many of the right boxes for me! The same good vibes as the old Time Team but without living in the past, so to speak. So wonderful to see so many familiar faces, I did a little happy jump every time I recognised someone. Just seeing John pull that little box around and immediately see the results - rather than waiting to huddle around a wind-beaten sheet of paper round the back of land rover lol - made me smile. :)
And I'm thrilled to see Gus Casely-Hayford!! I remember really enjoying his series on African archaeology many moons ago. He has such a lovely soft voice and I adore the reverence he gives everything. Tony Robinson left big shoes to fill, figuratively anyway, but I think Gus is going to do a great job.
I'm so happy and I cannot wait for more!
Do you recall the title of Gus’ series? I’d love to see it.
@@549RR iirc it was 'lost kingdoms of africa'

Yes, Gus works for me too.
It's so wild to see Matt! He looks and sounds exactly as I remember him from the original series. I'm glad the whole team seems to be doing well.
It is so good to see our old Time Team friends and the enthusiasm of the new folks! This is shaping up to be a fantastic dig! Welcome back, Time Team! This American has missed you!
I second that! Welcome back from across the pond and over the hills in California. 😊
@@aylbdrmadison1051 I third it! Welcome back from cheese land - Wisconsin!
Oklahoma here!
This Oregonian, too!
Texan here. I love Time Team.
I love that so many of the original crew are able to participate - love all of them so much and miss the ones who've left us for good - and am excited to see what the new team members will bring to "the archaeological cause"! Remember, all the crew members were new at one time and if we grew to adore them, we can grow to - at the very least - accept "the newbies", too. (I'm also really hoping for plenteous "guest appearances" by missing members of that old crew!) I freely admit to cheering every time a member of the old crew appeared on screen - Hi Stewart! Hi John! Hi Carenza! Hi Helen! Hi Matt! Hi Carl! Hi Naomi! Hi Henry! Hi Dani! Hi Raysan! - for they are my ROCK STARS!
I love seeing the new tech and am looking forward to seeing it used.
I love seeing how the younger members of the old crew have grown in their knowledge, skills, and careers.
I love seeing that huge new tent (and can so very easily picture Robin kicked back in a chair perusing books and records pertaining to the site)>
I love that the program is still using that same incredible music!
And, finally, I am THRILLED that this ep. deals with a lovely, mysterious fogou!! Thanks, y'all!
American here, and I didn't learn of Time Team until 2014. I've watched every bit I could find three, perhaps four times each. This is the first time I've been able to view an episode on first showing, and I'm very excited!
Thank you so much for making this available to us non-patreon folk. Thank you to the patreons, Time Team and sponsors for making the new season possible. Loving it. The new set up will take time to getting used to it but it's a fantastic start regardless.
The journey for so many of us from pandemic self-care discovery to today has been absolutely amazing and honestly so cathartic. I am over the moon with joy at the thought of watching ya'll discover new "lumps and bumps" and "bits 'o pot.'
Pandemic self-care discovery perfectly describes how I came across this series! 💜
@@christinag8782 : I love yours and M Howery's attitude, intention and inclination.

You’re so right. The sweetness and earnestness of Time Team definitely helped me through some blues the last year or so!
How long will it be before Americans badly copy this series and 'do it to death' as Americans always do?
@@bobmarshall3700 There was already an American TT. Not sure how long it lasted, but it wasn't very many seasons.
Original music, original team, new tech, lovely Dr Gus-- wonderful!
Welcome back, Time Team! I kind of miss Tony's exuberance and humor, but I'll acclimate and enjoy the archaeology and let the new team find their rhythm. Keep up the good work. I just hope there is a pub shot at end of one of the days!

Another patreon here, very proud to be a part of this and that it's finally real. I love the improved format of an episode for each day of the dig and the way the new technology is being used to give viewers clear information about the archaeology. Still a little overwhelmed that my favourite program ever is back !
Two minutes in and instantly warmed to Gus. So great to see Time Team back. Should've never gone!
Brilliant just brilliant , my favourite program ever !! , so pleased its back !, I hope Phil Harding gets a guest appearance !
This is the positive side of the so often unsocial networks.
Without these time team would have been gone forever. But the peopel have brought it back.
It is amazing and lovely🙂
Anybody hit like before the video began?
And, simply continued to be delighted?
The new presenters are documentarian in manner thankfully leaving the reality tv feel behind.
Every feature of presentation is well instituted, edited and displayed.
Brilliant.
I’m so grateful that I can see new episodes of my favorite history program again.
Brilliant start! The timeline coming up on the screen is a really nice touch, and the advances in technology to assist archaeology is just amazing!!
Agreed! the timeline is a great way of navigating the inevitable multiple periods of archaeology at a given site!
I also have to chime in with my love for the time line! It really helps keep track of where we are in the story.
Yes, I liked the timeline coming up on screen its a great addition as there were loads of times when they stated different time periods and I was stuck as to when that was.
Plus good old geophys!
I’ve watched every Tome Team I could find on TH-cam here in the US. This program is the best of television and internet. Wonderful!!!!!
So happy Time Team is finally back!! Loved seeing the old team members again but definitely missed Phil!
...and Raksha, and Victor in particular.
Love you timeteam 💕 all the old episodes got me through my chemo and radiotherapy when I needed something to calm my mind ❤️
Well firstly welcome back Time Team but most importantly you got that spot on. What a site and what a great advance we can see in Geophysics. Some stunning Archaeology and seeming as though you are going to run each day with half hour presentations is win win for me. I also thought the new presenters calming voice was such a great way to carry the digging. Thanks to all involved and Tim I already feel this is a winner in how you are presenting the dig. Thanks again.
Another thing that seems to have advanced is John girth. He used to be so rather slender way back when... ;)
Part of what hooked me on Time Team was Tony's boisterous nature and the banter between him, Phil, and Mick. We obviously can't have Mick back, but Phil and Tony are still around and I would not be upset if they came back.
@@TestECull Politely, I have to disagree. The original Time Team morphed into "Amateur Robinson's Obsessions". This new version, if the first 3 episodes are anything to go by, is back to its professional best, complete with slightly-prickly but academically-supported disagreement. Bring back Phil by all means, but leave Robinson to plough his own furrow elsewhere.
@@20Norton It was Tony that got me hooked on a topic I normally care very little about. Before the allmighty algorithm suggested Time Team to me my interest in history went only as far back as the internal combustion engine. And if it hadnt been for Tony and Phil's banter, chemistry I probably would not have been hooked by Time Team.
Not to slight Dr Gus in the slightest....he is doing a fine job....but it just doesnt feel like Time Team without Phil and Tony.
Welcome back, Time Team!! Welcome back, old faces...and hello, new faces!!

So very excited Dr. Gus Casely-Hayford is part of this new phase. He is phenomenal. This American is blissed out Time Team is back.
Amazing to have the Time Team back. The new scanning and photographic technology is astounding, it gives such wonderful views and understanding of the site, miles away from John's dot matrix printer hammering out the outline of Athelney Abbey in S1 E1. Like others have mentioned great that they've kept the theme tune (got goosebumps when that started playing). I thought it would be strange without Tony and Phil but this new team were excellent. Looking forward to day 2.
Great to see some of the old team back together again. Deserves to come back as it has an exceptional place in television history. An element of what television should be about - accessible education. Made my day.

The music was one the first things I noticed hadn't changed. I was so happy to hear it with all that is new. (Why change something that has always worked.) And I was also pleased that the opening graphics didn't change either. @@oldtrooper6325 It is difficult when the old shows had the chemistry. It is boring presenting now, but I'm going to give it another try tomorrow. He has & his group have a hard act to follow. I love seeing the older team people, but I've paid a donation & want to try again. Thanks for the comment "Old Trooper" (I do love them, just struggling to adjust to the new style).
@@oldtrooper6325 Yeah the cadence of his talking makes it very much like he's trying to read from a script and make it sound dramatic, with all the half-sentence pauses and trailing off tones at the end of the sentences. One of the very best things about Tony's presentation style was that he just talked to the camera like he was talking to a real person. I can't imagine having a conversation with someone who talks the same way Dr Casely-Hayford does.
TIME! TEAM! IS! BACK! Many, many thanks to all who made possible this return of such a wonderful show! Like so many, I discovered Time Team during the pandemic, and became entranced by its engaging, humane, and dramatic approach to archaeology (and, by extension, to all of human history; which, since we are all human, Our History.) Your work during the original run was, and is, fascinating and moving and profound. And now, we get MORE?!?! ... The new format is terrific; an episode per day is a great way of preserving the anticipation and surprise, while allowing more time for the discoveries to 'breathe'. Also wonderful to see so many beloved participants return! Helen Geake, Carenza Lewis, John Gater...and so many others; like seeing an old friend suddenly appearing at your neighborhood pub. The new technology is fascinating; the site itself is compelling; I'm out of words. Go Time Team!!!

@@lemming9984 that's an unnecessary comment.
@@ktdid627 I quite agree with you and strongly disagree with @Lemming 998. The comment made by @Lemming 998 is completely unjustified and seems also to be inimical to the spirit of TimeTeam. I can't imagine Mick Aston, Tony Robinson, Phil Harding or anyone else saying anything like that. In fact, I can remember Tony Robinson saying to an able and erudite but argumentative pottery expert, "Carenza is the boss!" He is a curator and art historian. He's currently the director of the V & A East, which is under construction. Before that he was the Director of the Smithsonian Museum of African-American Art in Washington, D.C. He's had 4 TV jobs: he presented "Lost Kingdoms of Africa," in 2010 (you can watch it on TH-cam); he presented a study of Hogarth for the series "The Genius of British Art," also in 2010; he hosted "The Culture Show" in 2012; and he presented "The Tate Walks," in 2016 (also on TH-cam). He's published two books and in 2018 he was awarded an OBE for services to culture and the arts. He's done a bunch of other stuff and you can read it about it, if you have an interest, in his Wikipedia entry. I will have to watch his "Tate Walks" piece because I just love gallery walks.

I'm so happy to hear the same music, and the new technology is absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to see more.
...the beauty of these new Time Teams is that they can go back for updates for future shows. Gus will find his groove as will the team as they get back into the swing of things again after all these years.
Loved this first 3 part / 3-day show.
WELCOME BACK Time Team!!
So fantastic to see Time Team back again. Just brilliant to see the familiar faces - and the new ones. I've loved the show since Series 1, Episode 1. You were missed - and it's good to have you back.
Time Team is Back!!!!!!!!!!⭐️❤️❤️❤️
I live in NZ and was a late comer to Time Team. Watched every episode through first lockdown. Very excited to see it back. Whilst I miss Tony, Phil and Mick (RIP), this first of a new series was great. Lovely to see some if the old familiar faces so enthusiastic as ever. I'M HOOKED
