that's really in great condition all things considered! and the amount of distances you've driven it already, that's incredible. re the car horn, we replaced the one in ours with a motorcycle horn, the old one was just burned out.
You don't need to worry about the cosmetics of this little beauty. I live in the city where they manufactured the engines for these cars and most of the 34k Trabants on german roads look waaaaay worse than your little lemony princess.
@McElroysMotors Hi, I saw your previous video, about having to buy your car back. Mobile phones can so sensitive, you only have to TOUCH them, and you lose what you were watching! But I found THIS video, so I can contact you about something you mentioned in THAT video! You mentioned you have Cerebral Palsy. I don't know if you are, up to now, religious. But did yoy know, in the Bible, people with Cerebral Palsy got cured? Look these texts up: Matthew9:2-7 Mark 2: 3-12 Luke 5: 18-26. Good luck to you! P.S. I think your Trabant videos are really interesting. You are the person who REALLY understands this car!
@@nygelmiller5293 I am definitely not a religious person, but I definitely respect all religions. Yeah, with cerebral palsy, recording videos is not easy and editing them? That's a nightmare! But I'm not here to complain! I'm here to provide content for you all! :)
I try to go to the Trabant show in Washington DC every year. I was there for 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2023! I plan to be there this year with my car but who knows if I can actually get it there! Definitely not driving it 400 miles one way.
Ah, those non-cancelling indicators... It is so easy to make a turn and forget they're still on! Good luck with getting the little Rennpappe sorted! It will be a fun experience to go through.
East German cars in the usa, us cars in Germany... The world is crazy. I'm from Germany and had in my live a Lot of Trabant's... For more as 10 jears i drive Ford F250😅. My english is not so good, but when you needs Help or parts send my a Message. By the way: the "blanket" on the engine does not protect the engine from heat or cold, but reduces the engine noise! In German, the thing is called "Schallschluckhaube"😅😅 Grettings from Germany
I remember these cars coming in to Germany after the wall coming down. O May god they were slow and smoked. Then they got them on the auto bahn. Crazy times indeed.
I guess favoring and owning a Trabant is like doing the same for a Chihuahua. You have to go all in 100% or the looks and temperament will drive you nuts LOL.

The previous owner put in a flasher relay loud enough to hear. So that's sorted! 😄
@@McElroysMotors My old one just made a soft clicking sound, as I recall. Not easy to hear over the engine noise.

On the Autobahn?! What was their top speed? 80 km/h?
@@jeromeglick yes. In the slow lane with the truck. 🛻 and then had trucks trying to go around them. They were slow to start up in traffic. And smoked
Regarding the hazard flashers-- Does the front right bulb also not light up when you activate the right turn signal?
That is correct.
Amazing car and story (:
Definitely needs a bit of love but you make a Good owner for it!
2-stroke cars for the win!! :)
