    • @RichManPoorTech
      @RichManPoorTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Any steamer will do 99%, you need to keep the steam on the area long enough to kill the bacteria, while the sc4 produces more steam, which can clean quicker, if your looking at killing bacteria then you need to move more slowly and allow the steam to work

    it has no boiler tank because it is direct heating tunnel for water ,the pump is pumping water from the reservoir through a heated tunnel which output a steam directly so it is a different concept of boiler tank where the water is pressurized in it.

      Hi I’ve never had a sc1, so not sure how it works but my experience with other models is that they all leave a wet finish but here are a couple of tips, if you move slowly the surface is warmer so dries quickly, if doing chrome taps or high gloss finish like a induction hob then after-steam a quick rub with a microfibre towel finishes it off

      The main advantage with a steam cleaner it the fact that you don't use any chemicals, and kills the germs bacteria with the hot steam, this is especially useful if you have allergies and saves you money, however if you want to use detergents / chemicals, then i would spray them onto the surface to allow them to start working, then use the steam cleaner without chemicals in the machine, but you would find that the stem will do all the cleaning you need

      It produces a lot of hot wet steam, so the item you are steaming will also get wet, there is a selection button on the handle that would reduce the amount of steam, ie by half trigger press, so I would use that. And move quickly. I use mine on car seats a lot, but you need to have time to let them dry, I also use a wet and dry vac to speed up the drying process.

    From an economic standpoint, is the sc3 much more expensive since the decalcify cartouche has to be purchased regularly vs. Sc2 which can be decalcified with the much cheaper solution?

    • @RichManPoorTech
      @RichManPoorTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would depend on how often you use the cleaner, eg once a day once a week once a fortnight etc, also if you have to stop cool down and re- boil on you sc2 then you could be using more electric, which could offset the filter cost.
      The sc3 has a smaller boil tank which is fed water as you use it, it can also just be topped up with water while you're using it. this is a massive plus for the sc3.
      Both machines clean very similar, can use the same accessories, and both machines are worth purchasing if you want a steam cleaner, but in my opinion i would buy the sc3 over the sc2,
      i have not tried sc4 or sc5 to comment on those

      I don’t have any scientific information, so this is just taken from Karcher website, but from using it I would recommend 1ft or less, the steam has to be in contact to the area to kill the germs, at a rate of 30cm/s to kill 99.99% and if in contact for 30 seconds will kill 99.999% I find it fine for my cleaning tasks, my sc5 dose produce more steam though.

    • @RichManPoorTech
      @RichManPoorTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steam is hot and could salad, placing your hands in front of the steam can burn and should not be done
      Getting onto your machine, steam is achieved when water boils at 100 degrees, so steam temp is hot vapour as a liquid turns into a gas and therefore this should be the same on any machine, if however the flow/pressure is reduced the the amount of steam may seam week, with the sc3 you have a descaling cartridge if this is blocked then the flow would be reduced, if it’s a used machine and the filter hasn’t been changed regularly then there may be a build up of scale or a blockage I would then think about descaling, some non original descaling cartridges may not be up to the job, the steam is stronger when you first pull the trigger and reduce a bit after without seeing your machine it’s hard to say if yours is defective but with a full tank of water, a good filter you should have a good amount of steam and it would burn your hand

    Just bought the SC3 off AMAZON for 137.99 US Dollars. The white one was this price and the yellow one 220.99 US dollars. Not sure why the price difference but I thought the price was right. Do you know of any differences between the two?.

      It’s just the colour, sometimes you can buy white cheaper, sometimes you can buy yellow cheaper, if it has a letter or name after the you may get different extras like cloths or cleaning nozzles etc but gun type and pressure etc all the same

    • @RichManPoorTech
      @RichManPoorTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The sc3 isn't a later version its a different model, the advantages of the sc3 over the sc2 don't translate from the spec sheet to the real world, the usability of these 2 different steam cleaners is joy or frustration, as i purchased both with my own money i hope to convey my personal usage to viewers.
      The spec sheet said my car should do 28mpg reality is 20mpg not everything on spec sheets translate to real world usage

      you would have thought that karcher would use a different prefix to there models instead or SC3 or SC3 Upright, in my opinion you have a lot more versatility in the SC3 (non upright) and you can always use the carpet glider accessory on the sc3 and sc2 this is standard on the sc4 and sc5

    • @RichManPoorTech

      That’s what I mainly use it on, not the engine detailing as I tend not to do that, but I use it a lot on the interior of cars, this is one area you really tell the difference over sc2
      for heavy stains I use it in conjunction with a extractor but I use to use it with a wet and dry vac, just be careful on printed areas like switch gear wiper stalks that you don’t remove the printed ink.

    I've had my Karcher Sc2 for many years & it's brill
    What's this fill with cold water
    3 - 4 minutes waiting time.
    Its not a lifetime.
    Simply add warm water
    Cut down the waiting time
    The pads on a SC3 are so
    Expensive
    Sc2 pads can be homemade from
    An old cut down white hand towel
    ONCE AGAIN ... SC2 DON'T NEED
    TO BE COLD TO REFILL WITH WATER
    THEY CAN BE REFILL WHEN THE
    WATER IS LOW, NO STEAM & NO
    PRESSURE ON THE REFILL CAP
    IT WILL RELEASE.
    NO SAFEY ISSUES, NO WORRIES.
    SIMPLY REFILL WITH WARM
    WATER AND OFF YOU GO.
    MISLEADING INFO

    • @RichManPoorTech
      @RichManPoorTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i glad your Happy with yours, the sc2 is a cracking little machine but i feel i have to address your comment on "misleading info"
      Since i bought my sc3 i have hardly used my sc2 and have drove a 30 minute trip to pick up my sc3 rather than use the sc2 i have at home. with my sc 5 and sc 3 as they both have constant steaming i have often grabbed which is closest,
      i agree that you could use hot water, to cut down on heating time, this still doesn't address that the SC3 heats up a-lot quicker, again you could use hot water with that but why bother that heats up so quick.
      but once the tank of steam has been used, and what is left is too weak to use for cleaning, the time waiting for the sc2 safety pressure valve to cool down enough to loosen, and also trying not to burn your hand from any residual steam that may come out dose sound like a safety issue to me, this alone makes choosing a sc3 over a sc2 a no brainer for me,
      yes if you only use 1 tank then there is nothing wrong with using a sc2 it is a cracking machine, but when im steaming i often use more like 3 to 4 tanks or more of steam, or when my wife uses it between her clients, then the quick heat up time is important, 4 minutes may not sound a-lot but, if she has 5 clients that 20 minutes if she has 10 then thats 40 minutes times that by a 5 day week and we are now talking 3 hours 20 minutes lost waiting for it to heat up.
      Talking of floor cloths this depends on weather you have a easy fix or non easy fix head, my sc3 came with a non easy fix head, i purchased the easy fix head later as again it was more convenient, you can also purchase not Karcher cloths to save money.
      Im sorry you find it "misleading Info" But if someone is looking to purchase a new karcher steam cleaner and are looking at the SC2 or SC3 which at the moment are about the same price then i think this is what they would want to know, from my experience if i new this at the time of purchasing my sc2 i wouldn't have bothered and i would have paid more for the SC3
