Yeah, I think a truck should be a truck. Welding the tailgate with the electric tonneau makes it a 2 seat coupe with an oversized trunk. Of course that fits with the vinyl on the seats, not exactly functional either
Last time I checked, hot rods aren’t designed to be practical. In case you missed it, they’re a customs shop. Crazy designs and styling are what they specialize in and is basically the whole point of this show. Watching this show and expecting practical and minimalistic car builds is like going to a vegan convention and expecting a BBQ.
@@jlim9411 a truck having utility, makes it attractive. They could've swapped the engine & kept the rest stock. The tailgate looked so much better before.
Keith Weller attractiveness is relative. Some people find utility attractive, others find the impractical hot rod look attractive. There’s obviously a market for builds like that (a market with really wealthy buyers) and they’re choosing to fill that market. Don’t get me wrong, I think welding the tailgate was the worst thing they did to that truck, I prefer practical car builds just as much as you do, but you’re acting like that’s the only way it should be done and that people who think otherwise are idiots. Just accept the fact that people have different tastes and that there’s nothing wrong with that.
I have seen a lot of these trucks since the 1960's and this is the first one that I remember that did not have any rust problems. Even in Texas many would have rust around the wheel wells and inside the step at the bottom of the doors. This body was perfect.
They’re a customs shop. Not a restoration shop. Everything they do, they do either because someone’s paying them, or because they just want to and know it’ll make them money. Stop hating on them for doing what they do best and being successful.
@@schwiftyRican62 he said stock, elegant. The interior would've been luxury. I'm with him. All about the Count & crew but a lot of times, they disappoint me with their vision...
Okay now this truck Rocks! Excellent Job and perfect paint and correct 1960's style! A+! Still, I would have left the Bumpers front and rear on and of course chrome.
Luv it Danny... Had a 69 100 Dodge van I drove to high school every day ..well.!! Except when a van full of us left the parking lot oh the memories.... Would luv one
Usually I can understand the logic behind the builds on this show. I don't always like them, but I can at least see why they went in that direction. This however is just bad. They turn down some Frankenstein monstrosity that is glorified to sit in the corner of some garage lost and forgotten. They should have done a resto mod with a counts customs flair.
Unlike everyone else, l love the welded up rear end. And the zoomies. A little too nose down for my taste but that paint, Wow. I had the van version of this and it does NOT nose over or even pull up the rear tires. I put a 351 Cleveland four barrel motor in mine and an auto. Did get the FRONT wheels off the ground though. Really miss it!.
Very cool, dig the seventies show car vibe, paint is awesome, (I could not do that in a million years!), but could do without the pinstripes and if I owned the first thing I would do is take that tacky chrome Counts Customs off the front, wouldn't pitch it in the garbage, but it would be pretty cool to hang on my wall!😀😀😀
Danny , Somewhere way back, there were small triangle front corner windows on the doors. Great for rainy days and not any AC. There was a back window shelf in the 1967, Mustang, that my eldest girls would take turns sleeping on, when we drove from Maryland to Nebraska, in 1968. We miss that shelf to this day. Nothing is said about this shelf in any discussion of Mustangs. Do you remove them?
Hey it turned out beautifully ... but it appeared to be in such great original condition that it seems a shame to have customized it. Might have been better to restore it or maybe a restomod with the Icon treatment. And welding the tailgate ... that hurt.
Hey, I, and perhaps they Mr. Koker and others of his shop may have not noticed that. Though I don't think it could have been an issue when driving it! Neat comment you presented (here). It's Great (like from Tony the Tiger of the cereal boxes- and the advertisements that used to be presented on TV, back in the day. I grew up during that time period. By ! RDRT
In Counts defense, The truck looks gorgeous, and people complaining in the comments made some good point, But guys lets be real, This truck wasn't going back to the farm, it's made for Show, not for work,
At the beginning, he says "V-6 engine". WRONG! Straight 6, 144cu in mono carb . Too bad they welded the tailgate. I had the van for hauling band equipment for years, took the 144 out and installed a 240 straight 6 for the extra power and later turned it into a fishing/camping van. I later sold it and always regretted it.
Is Mr. Koker aware of the famous Little Red Wagon wheelstanding pickup. And a model of this particular vehicle 1/25th kit could be bought and built. in the late 1960s to the 1970s ? I would certainly like to buy a kit of this kind of truck and build and paint with a little detail work. How about that ! C/O Roger Ruuska aka Tootkaylok .
Neat, neat, reply. I heard a funny comment a very long time ago, but don't remember where. It going something like this"I'm so funny I crack myself up !!?!" I think you might also enjoy the comment I posted, here (?).
I do like the '70's vibe, if you did not grow up in that era, you probably don't get it...I like the A100 Dodges better, like "The Little Red Wagon" wheelstander.

Ahh dude! I would've kept it stock. It looked beautiful. That's just me though.
Right in there with yeah buddy but Still. She looks gorgeous
Second that!
Welding the tailgate shut ruined the truck
Exactly
Another vehicle ruined by these guys…
Rather the back wasnt welded nice to flip down and sit on the back wth a cold beer lol
Agreed. How bad azz would it be with a 6" wood siderail and wooden slat truckbed?
Agreed
Yeah, I think a truck should be a truck. Welding the tailgate with the electric tonneau makes it a 2 seat coupe with an oversized trunk. Of course that fits with the vinyl on the seats, not exactly functional either
100% agree! That's my biggest disappointment on the truck. Smh
Yep. Can always bet on the Count doing one thing to a car that makes you go ehhhhhh
...welding the back end just took most of the utility out of it
Show truck!!

I had a 66 with straight six van. This is pure beauty! Thanks for bringing it to us!

Wtf?! Got rid of the bumpers? ..ok
Welded the tailgate?!
Nooooo!
why not, it is the way they did it back in the early 70s for shows
I like the paint job, the stance is perfect with the big rear tires and I'd have kept the bumpers for sure.
they turned it into a hot wheels car should have went with stock elegant look with some luxury interior
I’m with u on that man
agreed! I loved the original version.

maybe in 59 more years it looks too goofy for a luxury type look

U can see danny made that truck for himself. It's got everything he likes on it tucked paint colors 70s everywhere plus he doesn't hve one
it's pretty cool... i think an original resto might have been better.
Facts
I may be an odd duck, but this is pretty much my favorite build. I've always wanted one.
Gotta love the Count! I knew it was going into his personal collection. 😂😆
Got a kick out of it when Danny and Ryan quietly slipped away and took off in it. So funny! Beautiful Econoline btw.
Okay now this truck Rocks! Excellent Job and perfect paint and correct 1960's style! A+! Still, I would have left the Bumpers front and rear on and of course chrome.
I'm not going to lie they messed that car up I liked how it looked in the beginning
That was one of a kind, it's absolutely amazing and gorgeous
The welded tailgate and tonoue (spelling?) cover are dumb . So is the seat material
Tonneau cover ( helping you out) 😊
Dodge prowler
Absolutely ruined it 😂😂
Love what you have done to that truck/van looks like a lot of fun
I don’t blame you Danny! I’d keep it too! Gorgeous ride!
Danny and Ryan were like have you driven it nope let's go wile those 3 knuckleheads were chatty kating about it 😂😂😂😅😅😅
Antique should look antique, they spoiled its character, oldness, grace & above all its simplicity...
Who agrees??
Im glad he's keeping it, it belongs in his showroom for sure.
They flip cars to pay bills. Danny must not care about paying bills.
Too much horse-assing around in a business. No one is serious.
Dam She's A Beautiful Truck! Absolutely Keep It!
That 1961 Econoline looks so 1970s boogie van custom with that crazy deep dark metal flake paint job and pinstripe borders.
Ryan's doing his best to talk Danny into keeping it.
Love it
Luv it Danny... Had a 69 100 Dodge van I drove to high school every day ..well.!! Except when a van full of us left the parking lot oh the memories.... Would luv one
I'd like to make that econoline, econo-mine.
Sorry for the tasteless pun everyone!

Best car yet, love it Count

One tight truck 🎉🎉🎉 Amen praying for everyone Amen

Beautiful truck
I'M GLAD YOU KEPT IT ON THE REAL
I'm "Glad " you kepted it Danny!!
your the best count watchinh here from phillipines
Hi! Thanks for watching! Subscribe to never miss a new video!
Gorgeous. Danny, don't ever sell this one like you did the Rivi. No amount of money would be worth losing this gem in your collection.
I always wondered how Danny stays in business when he wants to keep most of the cars his shop builds. History/A&E must pay well!
Don`r forget the shop, the bar & the band.
I liked it better when it was stock now it just look a toy car and really 60 grand for this, Vegas really have some deep pockets
Bo Duke would slide into that and slide right out the other side... man those seats look slick.
Nice! I just picked up a 64 same windows
It’s in The Count’s personal collection!!!😂😂😂
I understand the, "70's ", vibe.
Yet, all interiores look like the truck!!
Like the outside, but not the inside!
Another coooool truck from Counts Customs .
God do I love that 61 ford ecoline custom 👍
At 5:57 Danny and Ryan gets an idea. Lol!
This thing is awesome!
THAT'S ONE SICK TRUCK! ONE OF A KIND. DON'T LET TGAT BABY GO! NO, NADA, NADITA!
Econoline is awesome but my fav is still the Dreamer you built.

Beautiful.
Nice!
My first vehicle was an Econoline truck 5 window... Baby blue... It did have a six cylinder though... Man, I wish I had it now ...
NICE WORK YALL 💪🏽
Show me the manufacturing process please 👍
I think they kind of ruined it, should have kept original paint scheme.
This is owesome.....
I wish I had that truck it's cool
Wouldn't want it but it's really cool, great job guys!
The farther back Counts hair goes back the bigger the bandana. Soon, he's going to be wearing a 10x10 tarp on his head to hide his baldness.
Lol
Hey it turned out beautifully ... but it appeared to be in such great original condition that it seems a shame to have customized it. Might have been better to restore it or maybe a restomod with the Icon treatment. And welding the tailgate ... that hurt.
It's a keeper. Wow! sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
Good call!
He is like a Surrogate mother, who cannot give up the child once born!
great negotiation .investment made. value gained here
haha Danny watches it all unfolds, stays quietly in his corner, then he doesnt say "fak this im out" he just went in, drove off... too cool
Just wrong Danny and this is the first time I've thought that about what you build! I'm not only an Econoline lover, but also I own Econolines!
Love everything about it but the pin striping
🤣🤣✊ he said I think he's keeping it 🤣
Hi DANNY...👋👋👋 50th like....COUNTING CAR'S my favorite program in HISTORY TV18.....
Looks real good, sounds real fine. Wondered if it feels top-heavy in turns~~~?

BEAT THAT

But guys lets be real, This truck wasn't going back to the farm, it's made for Show, not for work,
from my point of view, its worth less now from when it came in.
Mike shoulda made a big Ratfink to put in the back. arms hanging down over the left side and a right hand on a big shifter. ;-)
Best original Color 👍
I would’ve restored it to original

Good move Danny.... I would keep it too !👍
My landlord has one next to his office just sitting there
Well done 😎
I laughed so much My face was hurting flip it ya go to fast around corner 😂

I like that guy he’s from pawn stars !
I kinda liked it before they did anything.
This could have been a good rebuild but that paint job ruined everything 😕??????
Sweet ride..
I do like the '70's vibe, if you did not grow up in that era, you probably don't get it...I like the A100 Dodges better, like "The Little Red Wagon" wheelstander.
A paint job every Mexican would love .
the whole truck made dated and busy. pin striping yuck.
Will have to argue about the truck. It looks beautiful but I like more original. Like having functional tailgate.
I’m in England and would love if these... every car here just looks like another
It looked better to start with.
I remember having hot wheels that looked like that 😂
Just wondering how much trouble was to switch to 302
Love the zoomies!
I have a 1965 Econoline Pickup with a 302 in it
