Pato box looks like a great game. I have Mortal Kombat but haven't really played it in a while. Street Fighter X Tekken is on of my favorite fighting games on the Vita next to Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 😁 the only physical game I had originally purchased back in 2013, but that changed after mid to late 2020 after finding your channel. Love your channel Sir James keep up the great work 👍

Not just on the Vita, Pato Box looks pretty unique on any system. I'll have to look out for it. The VN game looks interesting. It's a shame so many of the good ones don't get translated (I picked up Dunamis15 and Disorder6 for PS3 recently and I'd love to have a better idea of what's happening.) Sometimes the calmer games are just what you need though. I picked up Lake recently (another game that could've been released for the Vita!) and am thoroughly enjoying it.
Hey you will be happy to know that after making this video, someone in the comment section confirmed that Fuurakai 3 might be getting an English fan translation in the future. It's not 100% official just yet, but at least they are looking into it. 😊

Even though I love Persona games I can't say Tokyo Xanadu is a rip-off, those two games are very different once you've beat them.
Yes, when you first start your playthrough the comparisons can't be helped but they end up being very different from each other (besides I much prefer the Tokyo Xanadu gameplay/Battle mechanics over P4G)
Dude I feel exactly the same way! Especially considering that the actual gameplay between these two games couldn't be more different. I am happy to see that as time goes on more and more people are discovering this title. 🤗
I think it's just lazy comparisons based on surface similarities sometimes. There are a number of RPGs that have schools in them (the Blue Reflection and Caligula Effect games, Monark, etc) and they'll probably often get compared to Persona because of that. Any JRPG fan that dismisses Tokyo Xanadu is really hurting themselves.

Yeah I could see that. While there was actual gameplay to it, it did have a lot of heavy visual novel cutscenes. Once Halloween comes I'm definitely going to replay that on the Vita. 🙂

Tokyo Xanadu is a really fun game I had a blast playing it back in 2020 and I don't regret it. It was actually the first rpg I ever finish that wasn't persona lol

- Best game appearance of a sandwich (well, your video was inspiring, as always).

Just found out that we lost another PsVita exclusive..Persona 4 Golden will be releasing on Steam, PS4 and XBox.
Yeah I heard, but I can't really say I'm surprised either, it's something we all knew was going to happen eventually. I found it very interesting that they ended up going with the PSP version of Persona 3, since there is always been a debate as to which version of that game was the most superior.
I came for the story not the thumbnail. Just kidding that thumbnail caught my eye. Plus I love my Vita dude I just wish it was easier to buy certain games still.
I hear you on that one. So many games have been delisted for the PS Vita, and the price of physical releases these days certainly aren't helping. Always a pleasure to meet a fellow Vita fan! 🤗
I have always wanted MK for the Vita. I do have Killzone for the Vita It's one of my favorites along with Uncharted, Broaderlands 2, God of war Collection. I also have Silent Hill for the Vita it's not to bad.
Oh you mean Book of Memories? Yeah that game I actually thought was pretty decent, despite it not really being a true Silent Hill game.
I know this is not vita related but not every visual novel is just text with some choices at different points in the story some have gameplay . one the best visual novel I ever played was more of srpg with mechs the name sunrider mask of Arcadius ,it's not even from a Japanese company .my point is this your best best vita games for the genres so I'm glad you found something you like that not has main stream for the vita. these smaller games are where the vita shines
I couldn't agree more with you! There but so many great visual novels out there that do try to break away from the norm, and finding little hidden gems like this on the PS Vita is always a joy! 🤗

to be fair, noone could really say anything was a rip off from persona since persona was a rip off of the earlier rpg of that nature. they are even so far off from dungeon crawler origin of shin megami tensei that you could say persona became known when they decided to rip off someone else's gameplay.
I guess if you're talking in general, yeah I can see where you're coming from with that. I even remember the whole social link aspect being done in such earlier PS1 titles as Thousand Arms. At least as far as what came over to the West back then.

ah Tokyo Xanadu is one of my favorites also. Pretty epic story as well. Wish it got more love.
I was happy to see at least that it got to re-release on the PS4, hopefully it opened up the game to a much wider audience. Plus the extra content was nice. 🤗
Best fighter might be blaze blue continuium shift. Best vacation simulator is still dead or alive one
I really do wish I was better at the Blaze Blue games, they were just a bit too technical for me. I got whooped so many times online. 😭
major question is there any way to transfer chrono cross (ps1) Burnout Legends (psp) and gradius collection (psp) that are on the ps3 digital store to my vita using a thumb drive or the download list in the vita store?
You can try, but from what I've been hearing others say they are right protected and since Sony disabled the ability to transfer these games naturally the only way you'll be able to get them on your Vita anymore is via modding.

chrono cross and 3rd birthday can be transfered to you vita through the download list on the vita also it says vita on the ps3 store. as for the games that only say psp, i think you sol out of luck because i can not tranfer gang war to my vita using this method and it say only psp in the ps3 store
Just drop a 1tb memory card in the ps2vita and download every game made for the vita.

You think Yu-Gi-Oh! is weird (well, it is lol)? Yu-Gi-Oh! was much darker in the manga that was neutered in the anime lol.
That being said, I haven't played a lot of my Vita recently, I was too busy drooling over the new PS Plus Premium option and all the sweet games to download (still stream-only for PS3 games unfortunately) and play.
Oh so you're the one of those individuals that's completely on board with the tears huh? That's awesome man, I'm glad you've been able to find things to enjoy with it. I'm still kind of on the fence if I want to subscribe personally, I'm going to wait and see what type of content gets added in the future. Keep me posted on how you're liking it. 🙂
@@PSVitaat2am well I got an early look thanks to a small fee I paid for Premium for what's left of my current ps plus sub and so far, it's pretty awesome
PS3 games are still stream-only like in PS Plus, but now they've added a few PS1 and PSP games to download and play on your PS4/5 with even more games planned to be added over time, maybe PSVita games as well (?)

I love Tokyo Xanadu. I want to see it become a standalone series. It combines elements of both Cold Steel and Ys which are two titles that I adore. Rion is always in my party once she joins as I find her the most fun to play as. It's too bad you get her late in the game.
Always nice to meet a fellow fan of the game. And I definitely agree with you, I believe personally that it's good enough to be its own standalone series. Sigh! Maybe someday.

For fighting, I do like Street Fighter X Tekken and One Piece: Burning Blood. Have yet to try other 2D style fighting games though.
I would definitely check more out when you get a chance, the PS Vita had a nice variety of fighting games back in its early days. 🙂

@@PSVitaat2amit's been awhile so I'm going off of years old memories only. The game itself is not bad, just a little underwhelm if anything. Tokyo xanadu is pretty much the love child between cold steel and the current ys series. But even with all its legendary pedigree, TX excelled in none of what made its distant parents great. First of, combat is functional yet lack what made ys a staple among falcom's great. It has a few situational abilities that are utterly useless outside of its intended purpose. I remember just spamming the same thing over and over until everything dies. Sometimes, I wish it was turn base instead. While combat can get brutal especially on harder difficulty, I never feel the need to do anything other than don't get hit and keep spamming the same thing until everything dies. Character uniqueness are rather lacking as well. Since everyone has more or less similar ability with the exception of attack type, I almost never felt the need to rotate character around. It's almost like the guys at falcom took everything great from ys and cold steel and mashed it together without understanding why they work so well in their respected franchise. I will say though, the white knight and hiiragi are pretty cool for the first few hours.
As far as story/writing goes, the majority of the cast right down to our main protagonists, their design, weapons, world, etc... are very uninspiring. I kept waiting for something to happen, but it never did, and when it does, the paid off is rather weak. I can go on and on, but long story short, Kou is very much the even more generic version of Rean.
I started this game on the vita but fell out of it since it's not gripping me. I didn't get back to it until I already finished the ps4 port and I figure I may as well platinum it too. After spent 90+ hours on each game, It's definitely one of my least favorite falcom game.
I think the meaning of "box" in Pato box is short for "Boxing"

Hopefully it will be something that they slowly add to more and more as time goes on. Supposedly they're going to be making it to where we won't have to rebuy many of these legacy games, let's see how far that goes though. 🤔

Very nice video . 👍🙂 I haven't played pato box or the visual novel, but the rest yes . Mk 9 on the vita is the definitive edition, since it has more convenient than any other , + 150 extra challenges + exclusive costumes for everyone including the DLC characters . I may give Tokyo one more chance , I tried it a long time ago , and didn't get to it . I think it has passed enough time. Yesterday I got Assassin's creed chronicles physical, so when I finish it , I think I'll start Tokyo or Metal gear solid 3

Your list seems short. I too have MK9 but even though nobody mentions my favorite dive kick, you might want to play Injustice which is kinda of the same as MK9. I haven’t play the Sakura games as far as visual novels but I think nothing beats The Walking Dead or Papers Please. If you want a good platform Assassin’s Creed Chronicles. Gravity Rush for the monster fights.
You know I still haven't had a chance to try out Dive Kick, I have heard some mixed reviews when it comes to that game but I do feel like it's time I experienced it for myself. Thanks for mentioning it! 🙂
As far as JRPG's go strategy/tactical tend to be my weaker genre of expertise. I've been playing around with Deception IV: Blood Ties, and its better than I anticipated. Lots of cool traps and ways to kill the enemies. Worth a try if you haven't checked it out.
Oh yeah that's an excellent game! It's actually part of a series too, as I remember playing an earlier entry back on the PS2 called Trapz. At least I think that's its name. Yeah it's a gameplay concept they certainly think out of the box with. 🙂

Funny how you mentioned Tokyo Xanadu being overshadowed by Y's VIII. I played it after beating Y's VIII and while it's *not* Y's VIII, it's a very enjoyable game (and it didn't have Y's VIII's bittersweet ending). Highly recommended...but don't play it after playing Y's VIII or vice versa, the controls are different and there's no block button.
Fair enough! I will admit that Ys Vlll did have a bit more polish to it, but there was just something about the gameplay in Tokyo Xanadu that just had a certain charm for me personally. 🙂

Divekick and Mortal Kombat were the only two fighting games I played on Vita. I also played Tokyo Xanadu on Vita, though it had less content than the other versions. It was good though, since I was kind of done with the game when I finished it, and wouldn't have enjoyed playing more content. It felt like they mixed the Trails of Cold Steel school stuff with the combat from Ys.
Persona 4 DAN, I actually only played the story mode then never bothered going beyond that, so when I heard there was no story for 3/5, I didn't even bother with them.
Duck Boxing seems interesting.
So I take it you enjoy the story in P4D? I'll be honest even for just a dancing game, I was never really one to find the storyline in that title very engaging. For me it was all about the music rhythm game and music since the Persona series really shines in that aspect. That's just me though.
@@PSVitaat2am Enjoy was too strong of word. I thought it was decent fluff and a bit more time with the characters. The main new character (Kanamin) they introduced was pretty embarrassingly bad. It's by far the worst side story for the Persona 4 characters, with the one in Persona 4 Arena and Arena Ultimax being much better stories. But I didn't much care for the gameplay either, I'm not much of a Rhythm gamer, and as far as they go, I liked the way Hatsune Miku's games worked better than DAN.

Fun fact - Fuuraiki 3 could possibly get a fan translation in the future. Some people on GBATemp posted about it and were asking for technical help (which they've been getting) to program a translation.
