  • American political scientist John J. Mearsheimer described India as an aspiring great power that is growing strength to strength in the geopolitical rivalry involving the United States, China, and Russia. Speaking during a session at CNN News18’s Rising Bharat Summit 2024 in New Delhi, Mearsheimer said that the United States was the most powerful country on the planet during the unipolar phase, which started with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and lasted roughly till the mid-2010s. Watch for more.

Prof Mearsheimer pointed it out bluntly to that Hindu woman Palki that India would have no role in any conflict between the US and China either in Taiwan or South China Sea. Mearsheimer never considered that India had that kind of ability to fight China. The late PM Nehru also thought in 1959 that China couldn't fight India due to no road between Tibet and Sichuan Province while India inherited all the advanced weapons from British India. The 1962 Chinese self defense counter attack proved to the contrary as the Chinese spent 3 years to transport weapons and supply from Sichuan to Tibet and mobilized 30,000 Yaks to carry those guns and ammunition to the top of Himalayas. The Chinese won a 50 year truce at the border after giving the Indians a good lesson. In 1792 Nepal's Gurkha Kingdom also invaded Shigatse Tibet and occupied Panchen Lama's monastery. Chinese Manchu Emperor sent imperial army to drive the Gurkhas out of Tibet and chased the Gurkha all the way to Kathmandu. The Gurkha king surrendered and Nepal became Chinese protectorate for the next 150 years until British India came. Now India thought India got a bigger fist than the Chinese and wanted to try to have a fist fight with China at the border. One thing is for sure: Indian troops will never win over Chinese PLA.

Chinese PLA lost to Vietnam , and we have seen the videos of these plum boys as soldiers crying to avoid enlistment so I won't worry too much. If china entered a full scale war with India it would loose all its advantages and the dream catch up to the usa will remain a dream. And about that "good lesson" that was underfunded army with an idiot running the show. So I won't ride on that high horse saying PLA is such a superior force. Maybe read up a bit of history instead of propaganda and you will understand what realism means.

It’s depressing listening to Mearsheimer, who has a very dark view of humanity. According to him, humanity is doomed for wars and conflicts indefinitely. That’s exactly the mentality of the west, born out by history. European states have been at war for centuries. Through colonialism and imperialism, the west spread its savages to the rest of the world, Asia included.
In his narrow and simplistic world view, everything is a zero-sum game. Somebody must dominate. Needless to say, it would be the US and therefore the US must pull out all the stops to preserve its domination at all cost.
It’s a depressing and rigid world view that does not allow for any imagination and human ingenuity.
Mearsheimer needs a good dose of the Asian philosophies: harmony with nature and your fellow men, tolerance, acceptance of others, cooperation and generosity. These are the attributes we should be promoting, not domination and winning at all cost.
The global south must reject people like Mearsheimer and their views. We know better and we can do better. The narrative from the west is old, tired and dangerous. We’ve seen that narrative play out for several hundred years. We’ve seen enough.
We need a different and better narrative.

      China hasn't forgotten
India' s Buddhist influence on the Tang Dynasty. A film was made several years ago about the Chinese monk who travelled to India to learn scriptures. Chinese people today are hardly as ignorant about India as you say.

Not true, throughout history India was seen as the western lands that Buddhism came from, mystical and intelligent. We sent many groups of monks to see wisdom and scriptures for buddhism. However in recent times due to the British carving up maps purposefully stirring up shit, we now have a border dispute, did China/India ever have a border dispute before the British I ask? I think these days China sees India like itself in the past, great civilization aspiring to be back to where it belongs, but we know the road is hard and long, best to talk less and work more. And always becareful of the US, if today US was #2 economy/military, and China was in India's place US would be praising China to attack India and trying to stomp India's growth.

This Hindu woman Palki didn't want to make it clear that India was a monster created by the British colonialists by conquering some 450 fiefdoms that had a total of some 250 languages. Today you can see that there are 18 languages printed on the India Rupee banknote. The official language is still English while the other official language Hindi is spoken by less than 38% of the populaton. Indian military still recruits Nepal nationals in their Gorkha Regiment which has been highly regarded for their exceptional combat skills and physical prowess.
