    Honestly, for all of our stereotypes, the Americans were representing pretty well. I guess it makes sense considering its 20x more effort to actually get there than other people in the EU

      Met so many US travelers during my trips! All interesting, smart and kind. My guess is that the chunk of population that doesn't fall into those stereotypes is larger than we imagine but less "sounding" than the stereotype ones. Other possibility is that open minded people are more willing to travel around the world than the other ones. But anyway, stereotypes suck!

      @@ruipeixoto5737 I think your second guess is most likely correct, I think I've heard that explanation from more people - that the Americans who do travel outside the country are more open-minded/learn to be more open-minded. Frankly I think that applies to any nation - it's just that in a lot of other places, travelling abroad is a lot easier, sometimes even nearly accidental!

    I'm a Czech viewer and I watch your vids on both channels. Gotta say during the first part of your video, I was telling myself: "Wow, how can the tourists know so little? They don't even know they're crossing the most famous bridge in our country? Wtf?" And then you pulled out the belarusian ruble out of your pocket and asked about the rates. Man. I was focusing on the rates so much it didn't even occur to me you're not showing them Czech crowns either. :DD And I felt so dumb afterwards. So yeah, I'm no longer judging tourists in the first part of your video lmao.

    • @warrenSPQRXxl
      @warrenSPQRXxl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's good not to judge. Czechia is a small country in Central Europe. The Czech language is a small branch of the Slavic language tree. I live in the state of Illinois in the central U.S. (population about 12 million). If I went to Chicago (population about 2.7 million) and asked foreign (or even many out of state) tourists who the governor of Illinois or the mayor was I would be shocked if they could tell me. If Illinois had its own currency (likely not with Cyrillic letters), I wouldn't expect them to know the exchange rate. The same would apply to the Illinois language if there was one. Could they name another city in Illinois? Perhaps not. Many tourists come just to see the views or experience the local atmosphere but not accumulate facts or be an amateur tour guide.

    Czechia..
    I was a tourist guide in Prague, and it is very much down to the individual people.
    Some barely had an idea where they are, others learned the guidebook by heart and were discussing historical dates and events with me.
    Though those tourists that are absolutely clueless are easier to handle actually..
    The most amusing ones were an elderly couple from Germany: when we were in the Letná beergarden with its nice view over the historical city, the lady asked me with slightly disgusted expression: "Well, how did you end up - HERE?!"
    I was so surprised, I didn't even know what to say. :D
    But her husband at the end gave me one of the bigger tips I had..

    Fun video! I knew the answers to some of the questions, but others I had no clue. For example, I knew immediately that the 1000 "Crown" bill wasn't Czech, because the Czech language doesn't use that alphabet. I know the names of a few Czech cities, but just like the river Vltava, I don't know how to pronounce them. I know trdelnik is not traditional Czech, but neither is goulash, . . . . it's Hungarian. The Czech version is much different, and maybe even more delicious! I know the bordering countries, but I don't know the name of the Czech prime minister. I do know that presently, the Czech Republic has the revolving leadership of the EU. So maybe I get a 50-50 score.😄 My favorite Czech beer is Kozel Black. Sure wish we could get it here in the Netherlands! Note: If you say "Velmi rád vás poznávám" (Very nice to meet you), Czech people will be politely amused, and they will love you, even if your pronunciation isn't the best!

    I’ll admit that I was clueless when I went to Prague- I was living in Poland and only spent about a day and a half in Prague. I wish I had educated myself more before my visit. I’m hoping to visit again soon!
    I’m going to buy your book and carry it around with a sharpie and hope that I run into you and can get you to sign my copy! 😁 Otherwise I’ll just hold it up and hiss if I run into scammers 😂

    I'm sorry but Nikola Tesla was Serbian from Austro-Hungary that lived in The USA. Croatia didn't even exist as a country back then. His father was an ethnic Serb, and an Orthodox priest for Serbian Orthodox Church. He was burried with song that he requested that is "Tamo daleko" which is a song about Serbian soldiers from WW1.

    Yikes... this video felt pretty mean spirited and antagonizing to these tourists. I think the hosts' attitude and general manner of speaking works well when interacting with scammers on the streets (because who doesn't like throwing sass at scammers), but when he carries over this type of confrontational and sassy attitude to tourists I just feel really bad. Also- I didn't know crap about Czechia the first two days I arrived. And then I learned- because that's the point of traveling. Don't need to attack someone over it

    At the risk of making myself sound stupid, is there a fine for public drinking in Prague? You never answered that, and I'm not sure if that was a trick question. I'm sure there must be, but is it enforced much? From my experience in most places in Europe, though there probably are laws about such things, compared to most places in the US, it always seemed to me that as long as you weren't causing any trouble, or being a public nuisance, nobody, including the police, seemed to really care if you were drinking in public. It seems that the laws are there for when you are a problem, they can choose to nail you on it. Where here, with the exception of Las Vegas, New Orleans, etc., people are just more uptight in general.

    • @birbdoggoguardian
      @birbdoggoguardian 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They actually do talk about it in one of their older videos. Check their vid called "EVERY TOURIST BREAKS THESE LAWS!" Apparently it's not forbidden everywhere but there are 800+ locations in a whole Prague where it's forbidden, mainly in the centre. And you can actually get fined. Or at least Janek said their Korean friends had to pay like 50 euros because police caught them drinking beer in can in public.

    • @sabgin4008
      @sabgin4008 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's forbidden only in some areas.

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's banned in some specific places, but there is so many of them that almost noone knows where it is banned and where not and you are right that police mostly doesn't care if you don't drink too much and don't make any problems.

    • @richiecabral3602
      @richiecabral3602 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Pidalin right. This is splitting hairs, maybe. I'm sure in reality things are not that much different in most places, and maybe I just didn't express this properly, but in the US, a lot of this is imbedded in our culture due to our history of a lot of this puritanical nonsense, but there are a lot of unspoken societal norms that we are just accustomed to, and are expected when it comes to certain things like alcohol or sex, whether we agree with them or not. Regardless of laws, there are a lot of unwritten rules about this is ok at these times, in these places, under these circumstances, but not during these other times, places, or circumstances. Sometimes they have practical purposes, but sometimes they're just an arbitrary repressive means of control and maintaining a false sense of propriety, and not that we all follow them, but we all still exist with in their confines. I'm sure that's pretty normal to all cultures, but these ones are specific to ours. Regardless, for us, standing on a public street holding a beer, we're preconditioned to feel like we're doing something wrong, and should be worried about getting caught doing it. So, as stupid as it is, when we can, we feel like excited and rebellious children that are getting away with something that we shouldn't be.

    About that fake note question, you might not realize it, but you're basically doing a magic trick. In that situation, most people will subconciously percieve you as the authority and will go along, as long as it's acceptable. When you say "this is the Czech 1000 bill, RIGHT? Do you agree?" They aren't even really looking at the note, they are just being yes men, because of the situation.
