We are two Americans living in Germany and today we visited Europa Park! Umm...Disney...is that you? We had heard so many comparisons to Disney and how the park was in many ways influenced by Disney, but also developed its own unique style and theming and is known as one of the best parks in the world. We will say this...it did NOT disappoint! Come along with us as we spend the day at Europa park!
Note: We do say Europa Park properly later in the vlog!

Slinky Dog Dash is actually a Mack Ride ☺️ (Mack = owners of the Europa Park and rollercoaster manufacturer). The Europa Park is pretty much their testing ground and showcase for new products.

That’s awesome! We love Slinky Dog and it’s so cool hearing about where all the Mack rides pop up around the world and Disney! Really cool how the park has developed from the concept of a testing ground/showcase. It’s really something special!

The entrance avenue you started in is the German area. Each building represents a German state (indicated by the giant state flags) and a German architectural style from different regions and time periods.
My favourite indoor ride in the entire park is the voletarium. It’s located in the German area right next to the entrance.

    • @CompassChronicleTravels

Oh how cool is that!! We didn’t know that so next time we go we will have to really take a look at that. What a wonderful idea! We loved Voletarium as well. Always been a fan of the glider style rides and the theming throughout the line is excellent! 👌🏼

What clearly speaks for Europa Park are the prices. On average, they are only 1/3 of what you pay at Disney in America. Another plus point, in my opinion, is the family-friendliness of Europa Park. In addition, it is allowed to bring your own food and drinks and, unlike Disney, there are also some nice resting places within the park where you can enjoy your food. What I also prefer is the natural character of the park. The planting does not look as planned as in Disney. This has a huge advantage, especially in summer, as you can find natural shade everywhere, which is not the case at Disney. Even the hotels located in the park are simply top class and in their restaurants even star cuisine is offered - and all this at a relatively low price compared to Disney.

    • @CompassChronicleTravels
      @CompassChronicleTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +9

100% we agree with all of this! It is a WONDERFUL park. Definitely more shady areas, natural beauty, and overall WAY more affordable. We stayed at Colosseo and absolutely loved it. The food has been wonderful, just as you said. Family friendly for sure and the operations were also incredibly efficient. We prefer it already and can’t wait to go again!

Funfact FYI, Mr. Franz Mack worked with ALL European countries together. The Swiss (Wallis) village is originally from Switzerland. As Co-commenter asmodon pointed out, the Macks want to be as precise as possible.
The italian Part (where you got the churros) was build with the help of the italian artisans and builders, as was the hotel Colosseum, artistsans came all the way from Rome to help build it. Children were asked to design their beds, what they should look like.
In Russia you see the Mir space station, it was originally the training ground for the cosmonauts in Russia. Etc...
Here in the Park, you learn about Europe and a bit of history, as well.
Next time trie out the food stalls with the European specialities. For Example in the Wallis village you can order a big or small portion of Raclette, a Swiss cheese warmed and eaten with pickles and bread. Just for starters.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING INTERESTED IN OUR CULTUR HERE. OOHHH, I forgot, Walt Disney took his inspirations from good old Europe, not the other way round.
Europa Park was originally inspired by Disney land, but the Macks wanted something more original.
You two Dears, be safe and sound.

Wow! Loveeee that Franz Mack worked with local artisans and builders!! That is such a great way to show respect for all the cultures and bring something truly special to the guests! Can't wait to go back and really take that part of it in! We will look for those stalls too! And yes! We had heard that Walt was inspired by a few places, namely Trivoli Gardens (which looks beautiful) so maybe we will get there as well. Thank you for welcoming us here! "Disney...is that you?" Weird question, because...
Considering that many, many Disney movies are European tales...
Even the "Disney-Castle" is based on a German castle.

Haha yes they are based on European tales. We love it! We were more referring to the similarities we have heard about/seen at the Disney parks. Piraten in Batavia vs Pirates of the Caribbean, voletarium vs soarin, the country theme vs at Epcot, etc. But we loved seeing the Grimms fairy tale section and want to explore that in more detail in the future because it’s great seeing the original works or earlier adaptations brought to life! 💕

Its great to see you enjoyed your time at europa park. Theres some other great parks in Germany with their own quirks and themes if you're not opposed to travelling. Phantasialand near cologne has even more immersive lands/theming with more of a fantasy angle and is actually older than europa park, but a greater focus on thrill rides and Movie Park near Essen is home to what is probably best described as a charming "budget" universal studios type experience. During the halloween season the halloween horror festival they put on is absolutely amazing, its the largest Halloween event in europe but still such a charming and well done halloween event, probably my favourite season to visit the park with all the additional decorations, shows and walkthrough experiences.

Germany would come after all these other countries. As you can see. Florida has this thing called sunny weather and warm ocean waters. That most germans love. Really, having to have a umbrella and coat on when going to Disney world in florida is something you won't see in america. Because of warm weather in florida. Along with nice beaches. Look at videos on haulover inlet in florida. That should tell you why everyone loves sunny warm weather and going out on the ocean.

They aren´t Holograms in Disney Parks that are some mirror magic tricks they using some animatronic puppets with magic mirror tricks that let´s them look like Ghosts. And Europa Parks seems nice but they are more kinda a ripoff compared to Disney. Like the wannabe Epcot thing they having there I guess.
But it seems to be still a nice Park to visit if you forget about the rip-offs and focusing on the unique Rides they having there.

    • @CompassChronicleTravels

ah yes I had forgot that about the mirrors! Think I heard that once a long, long time ago. What a cool concept!! We actually prefer Europa after being a few times. There is quite a bit unique on its own and it's SO much more affordable. Walt was also heavily inspired by parks in Europe (like Trivoli Gardens...which we would LOVE to see as well for that reason) as well as European fairy tales, and some Disney parks have rides designed by the Mack family. So there is a lot of sharing going on but it's kind of cool because you get to see so many interpretations of these creative concepts through time. Highly recommend it!

@@YukiTheOkami yeah I think a lot of things get missed sometimes (purely innocently, of course) in the states because the country itself is so massive that we really spend most the time learning about the US history specifically. Personally, I would have liked to learn more world history but that just wasn't the reality. We are eager learners though, so we don't mind being gently taught things. We certainly don't intend to get things wrong or think America is responsible for everything. We can't speak for everyone, of course, but we definitely don't operate under that impression. As for the screen, sometimes it just happens. We try and be as good with attention to detail in our edits, but when the videos get this lengthy the editing can be quite taxing and accidents happen. I think I added it to the chapters on the scrolling bar to ensure it was somewhere within the video though as back up. They're really helpful to have there for when mishaps occur.
