Every IAS or upsc CSE qualified officers are very joyous while giving these type of motivational speeches but this is the person who was average student like me and I can see on his face that he must have faced much criticism by many people being avg student and aspiring for UPSC OR IAS. This is what motivates me. A true underdog. Nerves as cold as Antarctic ice. Focus, converging like a laser shooting out of an F-16 fighter jet's 20 mm cannon. Concentration, stronger than stones. And a Will, forged out of titanium.
He won the toughest battle one can fight. Battle against himself. Have a great and fulfilling life, Sir. It was your destiny to win. Dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same. You had a will to change your life, and you did. You're a titan yourself.
This is the best inspiring speech that I have ever came across. After watching this any1 having normal educational background not so strong or wealthy can also dream of clearing the toughest exam of India and start preparing to persue the dream into reality

This is the interview I was looking for! Otherwise IIT/IIM/St. stephen's profile demotivates me even before begining :(
This is truly inspiring. I spend hours whining about being unable to make it to good colleges. I often doubt my competencies. On top of that, the toppers' talk initiative turns out to be more demotivating than inspiring since every other topper is from reputed institutions and good backgrounds. It is when candidates like these show up that the one feels truly motivated. Learning to not let my past define me but how I treat my present.

Sadly with those percentage he calls himself average, then I must be in the below average category.
Still you can, just work hard in right direction and be serious while doing so. Numbers doesn't create personality , its past 10 years of your doing that makes your personality and upsc only select good personality. All the best bro!

Clearly UPSC in the very first attempt is no less than a herculean task! I refuse to believe that you are an average student. Your 12th scores show nothing, because there are students from IITs and Delhi university who clear the exam in the 2nd attempt or 3re attempt. Hats off to you and to your patience.
