    Let's have a conversation about Reylo here in the comments! Keep it clean and be respectful! I think we're being set up to think that Rey can redeem Kylo, but is that really the way it will go down? Would that be too predictable? I really want to hear everyone's thoughts! - Josh

      For me personally I would love it if Rey either redeemed Ben to the light side or they both would become grey Jedi, where neither would completely go to the other side but understand each side more and test it, while keeping their bond and love for each other strong.

      Rey and Ben already fall in love since episode VIII, but the fact Is they are enemies, the both want to turn the other in this own way.

      As of right now, Ben and Rey can be considered the symbolic balance of the Force that must be achieved by the end of this trilogy. However, it’s how they will achieve this balance that will ultimately determine their fates in Episode IX. To me, there are at least 3 ideas on how things will go for these two, keep in mind that this is all just speculation.
      1. Ben finally redeems himself and helps Rey save the galaxy. From there they... well... “live happily ever after”, with their love representing the Balance. Whether they live in exile or not remains to be seen.
      2. Ben is redeemed and helps Rey, but he dies in the final battle. But not before Ben and Rey have a moment of “intimacy”, which culminates with Rey getting pregnant with Ben’s child. Making their child the Balance.
      3. Ben is not redeemed and fights against Rey, even though they accept that they love each other. In the end both of them die, ending the eternal conflict between Light and Dark. For with their deaths the Darkness falls and Light diminishes with it, bringing Balance back to the galaxy.
      Personally I’m rooting for the first idea. ; )

      I've wondered about this, too. J.J. showed them in Rey's Force vision in TFA. Remember, she was an adult confronted by the knights and saw Kylo kill one of them. We know from the rest of her vision that she saw into the future (encountering Kylo in the snowy forest). EIX could return to that confrontation with the Knights and Rey, and could give us the moment when Kylo is forced to choose her over his followers.

      That man Kylo killed was identified as a clan leader by Pablo Hidalgo but I definitely agree that it was a future vision and I really hope JJ incorporates that scene into the film. It would be a huge waste to mention and show a flash scene of such a fascinating group and then never use them at all.

    I also agree that Rey will help to redeem Kylo Ren into Ben Solo, *but* Kylo can only save his own soul by his own means. Similar to Vader when he decided to throw his Master away to save his son, it's ultimately up to Kylo to do the same for himself.
    I imagine there might be a conflict in Episode IX where Rey is in mortal danger and Kylo has to make the decision himself to save her, possibly killing himself in the process, but considering Kylo is the last Skywalker still alive (because Leia is confirmed to *not* return in Episode IX, she will be gone by the start of the film) I don't think J.J. will kill him off so easily, or kill him at all.
    J.J. is an optimist, and he *wants* a happy fairy tale ending for this final saga. He doesn't want to leave a bitter taste in the audience's mouths for the end of this. Revenge of the Sith had a bittersweet ending but only because we knew that the rest of the story had a happy ending later on, although the OT did also have a sort of bittersweet ending as well with Vader sacrificing himself. But ultimately I think that Episode IX *will* be a good and happy ending, with the Force being in balance, the wars *finally* ending after three generations, and Rey and Kylo living out their lives together, possibly(?) continuing the Skywalker lineage. There really is no other alternative. This saga *has* to end good otherwise people will be even more pissed than they were at TLJ. (I love that film by the way, although I do see its problems, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the good stuff).

      In nearly every convincing redemption scenario, Kylo dies. I do see one where Rey loses a hand, and Kylo, realizing that he can’t kill Rey, abandons the First Order, rescues her from the devastation, and after dropping her off with her friends, heads off into to the unknown-because-you know-he’s a war criminal. However, difficult it is to see; always in motion the future is.

    • @kimwelch4652
      @kimwelch4652 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Okay, there is one scenario where Kylo loses a hand, and starts yelling for Rey to finish him off, but Rey refuses, and when Kylo demands to know why she won’t kill him, she kisses him. His response should be “Oh”. At which point, they escape to the unknown regions together in the Falcon since he's a war criminal. However, I'm not sure the redemption in this one is all that convincing.

    • @ArmindaHeart
      @ArmindaHeart 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Kim Welch - Redemption is nigh! Lol! Redemption always means a physical or internal change in a hero’s journey, but that doesn’t mean a missing hand or anything as a copy cat to the previous films. A physical change could be Rey Pregnant and and an internal change for Kylo (since he’s already sliced up by his true love! Lol!) could be his mind being scarred from being owned by Snoke and all the trauma he created. Like Bilbo Baggins being messed up for life for the burden he had to carry. Bilbo became a hero after struggling with good and evil for so long, and he returned home not the same hobbit at all. Could be the same for Ben. Light to dark, then dark to light. Ben will have to save himself or die as a knight of the darkness. I doubt the latter will happen. Believe it: Ben will be our hero! Can’t wait!!

    • @kimwelch4652
      @kimwelch4652 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I was just thinking of the LOTR analogy. The losing a hand thing is a Skywalker tradition. Anakin lost a hand before he turned to the dark, Luke lost a hand before he could become a Jedi. Vader lost a hand-again-before his redemption. Somebody has to lose a hand, otherwise it’s just not going to work. If you’re comparing to Lord of The Rings, then think of Rey as Frodo, Kylo/Ben as Gollum/Sméagol, and Finn as Sam, which is another reason Finn ends up with a bunch of kids. This analogy doesn’t bode well for Kylo, and Rey should end up broken or emotionally wounded as well. Rey has to redeem Kylo one way or another since he represents her own potential future, if she were to let herself slip into the dark. This is why their bond is so strong.

    • @indigodragon0613

      DragonRebelRose I agree except I don’t think Ben can die without Rey dying as well. They represent the balance of the force. If one were to die, so must the other. They’re force bonded too so a death would be agonizing to the other if not deadly.

  • @indigodragon0613
    @indigodragon0613 7 ปีที่แล้ว +199

    I think Ben is already in love with Rey. I think Rey cares for him but not to the point of love yet, although she’s definitely attracted to him. In 9, there are really only 2 ways their stories can end. With both of them alive or both of them dead. They are the physical representations of the balance of the force. One cannot survive without the other. They’re force bonded as well so the death of on3 would be agonizing if not deadly to the other.

      Agreed 100%. When one dies (even if Rey is pregnant) there would not be balance. Like when Padme died and then Anakin. When one dies there is not balance. They must either both die or both live. Rey would be lost without him and vice versa.

    • @aboycalledfish
      @aboycalledfish 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      "One cannot survive without the other"
      My instinct: "this isn't fuckin' Harry Potter!"
      My higher mind: "Yeah both of them totally have to stay alive because if one of them dies the force would just birth a new dark side or light side user to compensate. Kind of like how in the Last Airbender the bad guys couldn't kill Ang because they knew he would just be reborn into a new Avatar and it would start the cycle all over again"

    • @indigodragon0613
      @indigodragon0613 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Kimi Skywalker Agreed. Kylo is just a persona anyways. He’s a defense mechanism created by Ben in response to constant psychological abuse by Snoke.

      Jennifer Brousseau Yup. I was also thinking when I realized something. They either will both be grey, or one will be light and one will be dark. If that occurred, then one person turning to the other side of the force will trigger the other as well to counter balance the change. There’s a really interesting dynamic that I can’t wait to see explored.

    Well, JJ Abrams started Reylo, Rian J. expanded or hinted more on it in TLJ; so I hope we get a good resolution in the last film. Their dynamic was the most interesting in TLJ. Maybe Rey and Kylo will be the ones to finally bring balance to the Force.

    Anyone who hasn't quite figured out the subtext of all TFA scenes between Kylo and rey - trust me trust me trust me - there is an attraction there. And now with TLJ it's more front burner with obvious strong feelings between them. If you need proof just realize how much screen time is given to these two- they wouldn't focus so much on their connection if this dynamic wasn't important or central. Maybe those who can't see their angsty desire have little experience in sexual attraction themselves - like they're too young or not experienced enough to pick up on it. It's there - I promise.

    Speaking of Skywalker's legacy, I read somewhere that Disney's gonna end it in e9. Still, I am quite optimistic Ben and Rey will end up together, but not as Jedi, just Force users. Remember Kylo's quote "It's time to let old things die. Snoke, Skywalker, the Sith, the Jedi, the Rebels..."
    After all the pain and suffering the Skywalkers had gone through, their descendants deserve a peaceful life.

    I love the idea that this sequel trilogy is doing a reverse Anakin and Padme saga. If this is the final trilogy for the Skywalkers then it makes sense for their story to heal the wounds inflicted by the initial romantic couple. There are so many parallels already. And we have the first story in this trilogy where the Skywalker is on the dark side, in some part due to failure by his family. He has to save himself for his redemption to be fully earned, but Rey will be a significant motivation. This is the opposite of Anakin, where his fear of losing his love drove him to the dark, but love of family saved him. And I do believe the story will end with the hint of children, thus leaving an open door for Lucas Films to have additional Skywalkers.

    • @elfsong713
      @elfsong713 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      blackeyedlily I am right with you there! I don't think it would be wise for Disney to straight up end the Skywalker family tree. To use love as redemption rather than a cause for a fall, and to upend the "love is forbidden" teachings of the Jedi would be an interesting turn.

    • @thethoughtcriminal8786
      @thethoughtcriminal8786 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +blackeyedlily. How romantic, how sweet....but this requires you to be diluted to three important facts. Kylo murdered his father in cold blood, and he tried to murder his uncle, and is scheming to kill Rey and his mother. Do you understand, the guy is a sociopath. Unlike Vader who hates himself for what he has done, Kylo feels no remorse. He actually does not feel that he is evil enough. You don't get the thrust a lightsabre through your fathers chest and then get to tell yourself that "oh no, I might be a good guy?" No, you are not. This is nihilism. Star Wars is a story about family, but Kylo murdered his family. And Disney, destroyed Luke Skywalker's legacy, so that people like you can find him to be a more sympathetic character. Luke would never attempt to murder his own nephew ever, and if you knew Star Wars, you would understand that. But don't worry, I'm sure you are going to get your Twilight in Space ending, or you 50 Shades of Rape, because Disney is marketing Star Wars to little girls now and they don't care about what came before. If Disney wants to end the Skywalker bloodline, they will do it.

    • @Dropthesoapto
      @Dropthesoapto 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you go see the scene where he kills his father you'll see that he regrets it immediately, which is in accord with the way the character was written. Deeply divided btw two poles. Furthermore, we later learn that he learned well his lesson when he had his own mother within his hand's reach and in the end he couldn't/decided not to kill her. And didn't kill Rey either, this time he protected someone he deemed important. He didn't kill his father lightly, he was persuaded that was absolutely necessary to complete his training. He's a religious fanatic. He was turned into this by that highly powerful one who has been raising him since his adolescence when his family failed to protect him. So, i believe he did it under fervent religious zeal and his actions afterwards toward his mother and Rey seem indicate this. At least until he felt deeply betrayed by Rey and goes on a spiral again. But in the end with the dices in his hand and seeing Rey slamming the door in his face, his facial expression showed how tight his heart was. He has a heart and was precisely that fact that was making master Snoke growing impatient with him. I think he's a bit narcissistic, he comes from power and afluency, a prince, so sometimes he behaves like a prick and for years was under snoke influence and power but I don't see him as psycopath.

    Awesome video! As a fairly casual audience member, I picked up on their romantic connection almost immediately & it was definitely the best part of the movie for me. At the end of the movie, when you see Rey shutting the door, it felt to me like the part of a story where a separation logically takes place and they're going to attempt to ignore each other for a while. But then I started thinking, how cool would it be if, at the beginning of Episode IX, you see both sides fighting like before, and you see Rey with her rebel friends and Kylo as supreme leader basically doing the good vs evil thing publicly, but then several minutes in, you see Rey alone and then she's talking with Kylo as if they're just continuing an ongoing conversation and you realize that the force connections have still been happening the whole time?! Maybe it's not the most logical step but it seems like a fun way to fake out the audience. :D

    Rey and Kylo will realize there is grey in the balance not exactly him turning to the light. Think about the Jounral of the Whills is cannon in TFA novelization and it's says, " First comes the day then comes the night after the darkness shines through the light the difference they say is only made right by the resolving of grey through refined jedi sight." It's even mentioned in rouge one briefly. George also said he wasn't focused on the journal of the Whills but it is mentioned alot in the Star Wars universe.

      Jay Jinn I think by the end of he will be. I think he will betray The First Order in the long run. I don't think he's without redemption. Snoke had been controlling he mind since he was child and he's not really dead if you ask me.

    • @Iden_Elihio_1999
      @Iden_Elihio_1999 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Jay Jinn The directors hinted constantly that he is a complex and conflicted character. There is a reason why we have things like Snoke saying he has compassi9k for Rey, saying that she feels there is light in him, Kylo being pulled to the light since the force awakens which is why he always like he is being, " torn apart" and Luke telling Leia in regards to Kylo, " nonone is ever really gone." Also Rian Johnson even stated if Vader can be redeemed why can't a conflicted characters who didn't choose the dark side before his uncle almost killed him. Also it makes sense why this would occur. The theme of balance and letting the last die is in the movie. Snoke: " Darkness rises and light to meet it" " I warned my young apprentice that as he grew stronger his equal in the light will rise" Luke: " powerful light power darkness" Rey: " light, darkness, the balance." The grey code symbol is even shown in the last jedi when Luke opens the Jedi text. Yea this route very likely...

      +Jae Jinn 1. he killed his pops cause he needs to stay and kill snoke, which makes him the strongest man alive morally.
      2. he killed billions cause they were all traitors of the empire, the republic ARE traitors.
      3. he killed the other padawans in the temple because they were PADAWANS of luke which means he probably didn't have a choice.
      my continuous kylo is a warrior not a petty politician, not a worthless nothing from jakku but a warrior.
      I'm sure he's still sorry for what he did despite all the cruelty but he still stands by his actions thusly forging him a man.

    If Rey and Kylo did conceive children in secret, it could be an interesting reversal of Anakin and Padme. Padme's pregnancy is what drove Anakin into the darkness, if Rey was pregnant then it could be what brings Kylo back from the darkness. Reylo babies don't have to happen at all in this trilogy, but it would be interesting if they happened in that way.

      They still have a long way to go. At the end of TLJ he was still full-on trying to kill her. Plus, he is an emotional mess. Would you want to have a long-term relationship with someone like that? He wants her to join him and when she won't he's right back to killing her.

      Sybille Stahl I see your point, but I did notice that instead of furthering the conversation while he had his hand extended to her.. she went for the lightsaber. They are both making these bad choices along their path to unity. He wants to see the old corrupt systems die off, and though his callousness about it is wrong, that is still in line with what Yoda and even Luke in his own way, about letting go of and moving beyond the past. Going straight for a weapon, when he is trying to connect, being vulnerable and even begging her to join him when he whispers ‘please’, would have felt like another betrayal. The same theme is echoed throughout. That line towards the end when Finn is knocked off his suicidal course, about winning the battle by saving what you love, rather than destroying what you hate. She made a wrong move there too by resorting straight to violence. He definitely has a long to go, but I think there are clear signs that they both have obstacles to overcome before they can bring any balance to the force.

      +JK FF You bring up good points. Rose does seem to be the one speaking for the director, doesn't she? 'Saving what you love,' against the arms dealers and the animal cruelty......
      I'll have to watch that scene again, after the fight with Snoke's guards, and see who goes for a weapon and when. I just remember the sneer he gives when she won't take his (still black gloved) hand. Reconsidering, I'm not sure he knew she was on the Falcon when he gave the enraged order to destroy it. And of course their relationship has to develop. Shall look forward to IX.

      JK FF I totally agree! I don’t see these movies ending in a way that would disfavor their relationship just because of all the evidence proven (and pretty obvious) in these two movies which lead me to believe that they will end up together. I mean I have been trying to not get my hopes up just because you never know what they are gonna do but we only have one more movie and I don’t think they will abandon what they have built up in the past two movies.

    Reylo was by far the best part of TLJ. Their relationship evolved in a huge way. It will need to evolve again in IX in such a way that we get satisfaction and closure. I badly want them to survive and continue the Skywalker line. I also need the story to make sense. I think a Kylo sacrifice is too Vadery (ROTJ). I also can’t envision a scenario where his many crimes are forgiven. Good thing I’m not writing it! I do think their bond thru the force will get stronger, to the point where they have no choice but to defend each other.

      PaulusAlone that's the point throughout the star wars movies it has been light vs dark. There is a reason why there was still war. There cant be balance when favoring one side or the other. This film is said to end the franchise tying everything and a "resolving of grey" whether or not you like it is the balance of light and dark, not killing each other for once and for all but finding an acceptance in a common ground. There is a reason why Luke said, " the jedi must end" Kylo saying ," let the past die" or Snoke saying," darkness rises and light to meet it" " Powerful light, powerful darkness" or how about " I warned my apprentice his equal in the light will rise. All these things are connected. The grey is even cannon, you can't escape it. The grey code symbol is shown in The Last Jedi, introduced in Rouge One and in the TFA novelization.

    • @PaulusAlone
      @PaulusAlone 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's actually Obi-wan Kenobi, paragon of Jedi values who says to Anakin Skywalker that "only a Sith Lord deals in absolutes" (or something very close to that) in Revenge of the Sith. But destroying the Jedi and Sith which are arguably the extremes of Light and Dark power is not the same as bringing balance. Turns out Anakin's "balance" was to destroy both Jedi and Sith and simply left a vacuum...as power usually does. I'm not trying to escape the grey and I get your point - Indeed I remember grey Jedi Jolee Bindo from KOTOR and his cautionary tale of training his Force sensitive lover, who then went darkside and tried to kill him, resulting in him tragically killing her! This greatly impressed me with these very moral choices...but it also proves you cannot escape the duality of life with it's love and hate. If you make Star Wars more mundanely real (and thus morally grey) it may fit in with what is 'trending' today but it will lose it's timeless mythological aspect...an aspect that good fairytale's also have. Mythology needs to 'define' its good and evil choices. The grey cannot become fudging and moral relativism based around catering to a niche audience who are shipping characters (as Twilight was guilty of) and that's what I'm seeing here. Maybe good writing can make these characters salvational to each other but there is the danger of losing the baby with the bath water if Disney jettisons anymore fundamentals of a good mythology which needs that light versus dark dynamic to inspire hope in the children who see it today! As I was inspired in my childhood... ^^

    I don't know why I ship them so much, but after TLJ I feel like there's a strong connection between both Rey and Ben. Ben/Kylo's character is that of a tragic villain I mean take this into consideration:
    -parents send you away (they thought he'd be Darth Vader 2)
    -(spoiler) your uncle nearly kills you
    -feeling betrayed by your family entirely
    -years of abuse and manipulation by Snoke
    -the aspiration to be as great as his own grandfather (Anakin)
    -and the feeling of being alone with no one, until Rey came along
    Reylo has to be endgame, it would be the perfect way to heal Ben's broken mind and give him a chance to be redeemed
    Edit 2/4/2018
    Like Luke stated that when he sensed Rey’s power he only felt such power once before (referring to Ben Solo), and Kylo told Rey that her parents gave her up and didn’t want her. As far as origins go, I think Rey was conceived by the force and her caretakers gave her up........like Anakin she was so strong in the force because the force itself is her parent. And her caretakers had her unexpectedly and didn’t want her.
    Another thing, Kylo did seem kind of manipulative himself in trying to get Rey to join him, but in his defense I think he kind of felt it was only fair.
    He just killed Snoke and risked his place in he First Order as well as his life.......when he said the word please, it only further cements the fact that besides power the only other thing he wants is Rey.
    MAKE IT CANON, REYLO FTW

    It's already happening. They've shared their fears and weaknesses with each other. She calls him by his name. He said "please" to her. They have cried/become highly emotional in each other's presence. They have provided comfort to each other. She understands him better, what has made him Kylo, and no longer calls him a monster. She looked at him with disappointment from the Falcon (that figurative door isn't shut forever. It's not what Hidalgo meant).
    I do believe that together they will reverse the damage that was done by Padme and Anakin. Love CAN save.

  • @amysmith7551
    @amysmith7551 7 ปีที่แล้ว +31

    I definitely think Reylo will continue in Episode IX. It would totally not make sense to just trash everything they have built up so far. I don’t even see Kylo as ruthless as Vader was. He shows conflict all the time in Episodes VII and VIII. I believe that Kylo will be redeemed because that is the only scenario that make sense. Even Luke says after he admits to Leia that he couldn’t save Ben that “No one is ever really gone”. His love for Rey will be instrumental in that. She is the only potential family he has left. Otherwise he would be truly gone. Both Ben and Rey clearly still have feelings for each other in that final force connection. I think Rey looks sad before she closes the door and Ben actually flinches when she does so. Like he knows he made a huge mistake. He thought being the Supreme Leader was what he wanted but it’s not. What he truly wants is family and love. The only way for him to get that is Rey. Rose even says to Finn “That’s how we win, not by fighting what we hate, by saving what we love.” Also after all the balance of the force, yin and yang, emphasis in TFA and TLJ, I just can’t see a scenario where either Rey or Kylo dies because then there would be no balance and a new dark or light would just rise again. That doesn’t bring the Skywalker saga to a satisfying end because they were supposed to bring balance to the Force. That’s why I think the Grey Jedi idea is so intriguing.
    I also am interested in how the Hux vs Ren dynamic will play out. Hux makes an attempt to go for his blaster when Kylo is passed out in the throne room so it’s clear he has it out for him. He also glances at Kylo when he is kneeling after the Force connection at the end with Rey when she closes the door to the MF. Hux is the General to the FO army and I think they would be more loyal to him than Kylo. I think Hux will put it together that there is no way Rey defeated Snoke, the Praetorian guard, and Kylo all by herself and then just somehow let Kylo live.

    I believe Rey will NOT be the one to redeem Ben Solo. Ben will redeem himself, similar to Vader. It wouldn't be good writing to have Rey be a tool used to redeem Ben. Instead, Rey will show Ben the path to the light side, but it is ultimately Ben's decision to walk that path.
    In TLJ, Rey already tried to bring Ben back to the light. That was her failure in this film. Luke himself said he wasn't there to save Ben's soul either. In the end, it is all up to Ben. Ben is free to make his own decision now that there is nobody left to order him around. It is all a matter of will & clarity.

    • @lasoldone260
      @lasoldone260 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, but I have a feeling Rey will have something to do with Kylo's redemption. Vader was redeemed because Luke helped him. Luke helped him by trying to get Vader to remember himself as Anakin, the loving son, husband and the chosen one. Yes, for Kylo to be redeemed, he will have to do it himself. He'll have to forgive himself for all that he's done, he has to let go of all the terrible things he's done in the past. Such as, killing his own father, because you can tell he regretted that, turning to the dark side.

  • @labelladawna4288

    For Kylo to be redeemed he has to believe he can be, forgive his self and forgive the past. From the beginning he feels it's too late for him. He's said it to Han, insinuated that to Rey. Luke wrote him off in one moment and eventually leia. I think right now Kylo still has bitterness with the resistance because of Leia , Snoke for his mistreatment of him, luke for not accepting him and trying to kill him in his sleep (even if for a brief moment) and Han for not saving him to begin with. Not excusing his fathers murder but saying that is how its looking to me. I think Killing Snoke was a power play it puts him in a high position to not be hurt again yet he couldn't predict the emotional outcome of the choices he's made. The opposite of love isn't hate but indifference and he's not indifferent to Leia,Luke,Han or Rey. I'm pretty sure by the time he killed Snoke he was fine with it making it appear to be indifference but he's still apart of the anger the bubbles over in Kylo. I think Rey could possibly be apart of his redemption but the choice to want redemption will totally be on him. I hope the writers go all out for Reylo and continue to build them up. That door can be reopened again.

      "From the beginning he feels it's too late for him." I like this explication on why Kylo keeps digging himself deeper. There is no way they will kill off the last Skywalker, esp one who has had a rough past. If they kill him off what's the lesson? You screw up and you're done forever? Yep, Reylo already happened. It’s definitely Juleo, where Juliet gets a sword and Romeo holds a grudge. The only question now is who loses a hand, and can Kylo actually survive the ending. If he does, he’ll be a war criminal, and have to go into exile. His survival is a very narrow and hard storyline. Most paths to his redemption, end in his death, but, he absolutely must be redeemed to satisfy the laws of storytelling. In any event, someone has to lose a hand-it’s the Skywalker way.

    Oh, it was Darth Traya/Kreia, who was Revan's first teacher :)
    As for Reylo, I am so, so happy that more and more people realize that it's happening. After TFA, Reylo shippers were mocked and called out for 'grasping at straws', because the beginning of this storyline was a bit too subtle for the casual audience, but it turned out that we were correct. I can't wait for more videos about Reylo, I hope neither of them dies, though. I lean towards reverse Anidala at the moment; after three movies of development and redeeming himself, it would be terrible to see Ben go Vader-style. And also, someone has to create that balance - I think that Rey and Kylo meeting half-way, embracing both sides of the Force, would be perfect for that.

    Reylo has to happen to some capacity in 9! We have been building toward and epic lightsaber duel against the two in 9. One thing all great Star Wars duels have in common is a deep emotional connection that gives it weight. There was Obi Wan and Anakin (brotherly love/teacher relationship) then in Rebels we see Vader vs Ashoka another (brother/sister type relationship/teacher) then in ROTJ we have Luke and Vader (father and Son). Since Rey isn’t related to Kylo then the way to make their fight have deep emotional weight is to make them deeply care/love the other. It is the only type of relationship that can give their fight weight since they aren’t related. Also when two actors have such chemistry why fight it...just go with it! Also it is a smart move for Disney because it will open the door to another Skywalker Saga down the road if they want to. Why shut the door on the Skywalkers when they are your biggest money maker and will always be? Reylo needs to happen to make this trilogy powerful!

    Since episode IX will be the last movie in the trilogy, I'm sure Kylo is going to be redeemed. JJ Abrams has been called back to film the new movie and knowing JJ, he wants to close off the saga with a happy ending instead of a sad one. I do think Rey will have something to do with Kylo's redemption, but in order for him to be redeemed, Kylo needs to make that his own choice. Like how Vader saved Luke from the Emperor, by throwing him off the edge. But the reason why Vader was able to do that was because Luke helped him remember himself as Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one, the loving husband, son and father he was before Padmé died. Vader had conflict in him and Luke helped him turn back the light side, just like how Rey was trying to help Kylo in The Last Jedi, because he was conflicted, didn't know which choice he made was right, how he said he was torn apart to his father, Han.

    Kylo might have a hard time keeping the First Order together, Hux at least thought about shooting him. This can contrast with Rey on the rise as the new Resistance/Rebellion organizes again. I want to see the “you have no part in this story” turn, so that suddenly Kylo is worried about having a place in Rey’s story.

    Could it be that Rey reads the Sacred Jedi Texts and rather innocently asks GhostLuke or GhostYoda or whoever is advising her, "hey...where's the part about 'no personal attachments'? I can't seem to find that." And whatever advisor either says, "Oh...that's an unofficial rule" or "oh...I didn't know that wasn't in there" or something like that. They'll then realize that personal connections are not only important, it's what will balance The Force.

    Ben is on the path to redemption. With that being said I do believe he will die metaphorically and then come back. For redemption purposes he needs to be on the brink of death. I think Rey will help him but, ultimately he needs to save himself. At the end of TLJ she looks at him like I love you but you need to get your shit together. Also, Rey and Ben are so intertwined that for balance to take place they both live or they both die. If Ben dies only the force is still unbalaced. I want Reylo babies but if it happens I can see it at the end of the film.
    Love the video! Can't wait for more Reylo vids!

    I'm torn about the theories around Kylo Ren's fate in Episode 9. I love this character and I'd prefer that he be redeemed and survive Episode 9. That way, the ending would be different than Darth Vader's fate, which we've already seen before. If Kylo Ren survives, it would also present the possibility of him appearing in future sequels and he could continue the Skywalker/Solo bloodline. I'm drawn to the theory in this video that Kylo Ren and Rey could conceive a child in Episode 9, but that would give the writers a chance to kill Kylo Ren off since the Skywalker/Solo bloodline is secure, which I'd be greatly saddened to see. I'd prefer Kylo Ren and Rey to live together and pass along their knowledge to future generations of Jedi.

    I can see Rey saving Ben from Hux, and her Resistance friends being sorely angry at her for doing so. I think both Rey and Ben will be needed to take down the First Order. And at the very end, I think they will both leave everything behind to begin a new life together. Maybe start training a new generation of Force users in the ways of Light AND Dark. Will they kiss? I don't think that's crucial to convey love. I can see them both boarding the Falcon, sitting in the cockpit, and squeezing hands in affection and support. And then they fly off into the twin sunsets of Tattooine. 💞💕💖

I wonder if the Knights of Ren will threaten/battle with Rey & Kylo must choose???? Somehow Rey has to bring Ben back to the Light - they must balance each other at least. Could they rule together and NOT be violent tyrant like Snoke? That would bring Peace.

    There's no time for playing games of trying to get each other come to the opposite side. If Fisher was alive, - maybe, but she is not, regrettably. Now Kylo Ren is loner than ever. His Mom will die in episode 9, but anyway, he will not go back just like that and admit that he has failed as a villain. He can only return if he assumes he has failed as a man and a son , or if Ray really falls for him, it will speed up the change in Kylo's thinking.

    If you're dying to know,
    Read on for what was pitched for 9 according to connected friend:
    Crawl: The resistance has had some success recruiting but limited in resources. Leia dead. The first order has no challengers. Kylo Ren is searching for Rey. While an unknown darkness lingers in unkown regions of the galaxy.
    Act 1
    -Opens with Kylo Ren being informed they have found the location of the falcon. Kylo is then visited by Luke ghost; consoles him about Leia and warns that "they are coming" and there would be great consequences for killing snoke (snoke & backstory reveals).
    -Scene blends to Rey having a dream foreshadowing horrific galactic destruction, knights of ren battling unfamiliar warriors, then a peaceful (pleasant? don't remember her exact words) Ben Solo holding an infant. Rey wakes to frantic warnings from Poe to get dressed, "First Order found us" kind of thing. Pursuit ensues. (I didn't ask, but my first thought was Rey and Poe were both getting dressed/naughty?)
    -Action scenes space escape.
    -Force Skype. Ben asks Rey to join him. Drama stuff.
    -Hux contacted by beings from unknown regions and he is told of the Snoke betrayal, Skywalkers and Kenobis are not to be underestimated, and told to do nothing but track Kylo until a new leader arrives. (Kenobi thing I am reluctant to believe would ever make the script, but yet I can also see an Obi-wan SW Story marketing ploy by Disney)
    -Action scenes of space escape.
    -Luke again visits Kylo. Rey is his only hope.
    -Rey is visited by ghost and told the Skywalkers will be critical. “But, Luke is gone. Ben is gone.” “There will be others. (something 'others')” (another child foreshadowing I guess)
    Act 2
    -Hux disobeys orders and arrests Kylo with big stormtrooper fight scene.
    -Force Skype: Ben again pleads to Rey to gather the knights of ren to join him, now to defend the galaxy.
    -Rey convinces friends to gather knights to help infiltrate first order and rescue Ben.
    -Multiple concurrent adventures ensue to gather knights, mixed with multiple force ghost visits
    (I can't remember this middle part of her description because of the Rey to the rescue thing)
    Act 3
    -New supreme leader arrives. Large action scenes:
    - Rey/knights, infiltrate, free Ben, and kill Hux
    -then battle the incoming supreme leader and her dark "jedi" guards in extreme force battle action with only Ben and Rey left standing (Rey loses limb?--she can't fight for some reason), Ben goes totally dark, force lightening, etc and wins;
    -They call in the small resistance and order the first order forces (witnesses to his display of power) to destroy the foreign armada resulting in epic space battle. They separate, Rey to Falcon, Ben to his fighter. (I assume Rey is rescued by Ben to get redemption points with Chewie, didn't get details from her)
    -All is destroyed, Rey and Ben survive with chewie, friends, the falcon, and a handful of resistance fighters as well.
    -Ends with friends out recruiting and Rey and Ben beginning to rebuild a new (Ren?) order to fight the unknown forces that will one day come for revenge and to enslave all in darkness.

    Honestly (and this may be wishful thinking), but I think Ben and Rey will live happily ever after. Not only because it’s Disney we’re talking about and they love that sort of stuff, but just all the themes and quotes in TLJ about the need for balance and righting past assumptions about the Sith and the Jedi and the Force, etc. I think this necessitates Ben living and getting a happy ending with Rey. Plus multiple SW materials (DataBank, novelizations) have mentioned how Rey and Ben’s destinies are intertwined, so I think whatever happens to Rey has to happen to Ben. Either they both die, having restored balance to the Force and peace to the galaxy, or they both live - the option I’m leaning towards because once again, this is Disney we’re talking about , and I also don’t think Lucasfilm is shortsighted enough to ever rule out the possibility of returning to the Skywalker family again.

    I suspect the Knigths of Ren along with General Hux will overthrow Keylo who is being completely torn apart by the Force. They will see the truth how Snoke died and the guards (Kylo chose Rey over Snoke). Rey will feel his pain and step in and save Ben Solo. The two of them together (A True Balance in the Force) will destroy the Knights of Ren and Hux. An epoch light saber battle between Force Users.

  • @GG-ci3ww
    @GG-ci3ww 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Here's mah theory (I'm new to Star Wars but these first two sequel movies have me newly OBSESSED): The working title of Ep. 9 is "Black Diamond", which I think has something to do with Snoke's big ol' black ring. I think Snoke is actually the Tarkin dude character from the original trilogy (look at a pic, also Disney released a book about that character very recently which is weird). I think he found that ring and it gave him force powers and he took over where the emperor left off. I think Hux grabbed the ring either when Kylo was knocked out or when he stormed off after the red room fight. Hux is going to figure out how to use the ring and become the big bad and somehow Ben and Rey are going to have to team up in some way. I think the knights of ren are going to be involved somehow too. Also, why would Disney spend millions of dollars to produce an action movie in which the protagonist and antagonist spend the entire 3 hour movie chatting via Skype, telling each other secrets, touching hands, and looking at each other naked if the romance isn't end game people are DELUSIONAL

    (3) In my opinion, Reylo will bring "balance to the Force" in SW IX.

    I agree, Reylo has been there since the beginning. When Kylo said “Don’t be afraid. I feel it too.” It was such an amazing scene. And when he removed his helmet, the look on her face was so telling. It was like she was shocked by how beautiful he actually is. They’re endgame. The two of them together will balance the force perfectly. They fit perfectly together. Ying and Yang. The dark in the light and the light in the dark. And seriously, The Last Jedi may be my favorite Star Wars movie thus far. Personally, I think it was fucking fantastic. The naysayers who complain that Kylo isn’t evil enough (of all things, why complain about that?). They need to realize that this is his redemption story. It’s actually canon. All of this is. This story won’t end the same way the others did.

    I thought it would have been interesting if Rey had taken Ben's hand in their final scene together in the Last Jedi. It would have been an unexpected twist and she would of course be redeemed and bring Kylo Ren back to the light. However, this is Disney and Rey is essentially A Disney princess in a Star Wars universe! She is not flawed basically perfect, and beautiful and will stay that way for the duration of the trilogy. I just don't see Disney making the bold move of Rey being tempted to the dark side because of love. Even though Luke when training her said she didn't even fight to get away from the dark. So, that leaves Kylo Ren to be the one who will have to change and I hope he doesn't become a weird sacrifice for all the good characters and dies in the end.

    Anybody else want to see Rey and Ben going up against each other in the final battle and then while they’re in the midst of battle they both realize they can’t kill the other and have a heated kiss instead. As for Rey being pregnant during episode 9, I don’t think that will happen because it would send the wrong message to little kids that it ok to get pregnant in order to get the guy you have feelings for to do something you want him to do. I don’t see Disney doing that during the movie. What I think might happen is Hux finds out that Kylo is really the one who kills Snoke and starts plotting to overthrow him. Or starts giving orders without Ben’s approval and attacks the resistance base and kills Leia and maybe hurts Rey pretty bad. I do believe Rey and Ben will end up lovers by the end of 9 because Rey learns how to balance the darkness within him and Ben leans how to let the light in. I don’t think they’ll kill him off because he’s the Skywalker and if Disney ever wants to expand on the Skywalker saga (and you know they will especially if the Skywalker-free trilogy doesn’t do well) then they would need a new generation of Skywalker babies to be at the center of the trilogy. Personally I’d love to a “ epilogue” after the final battle and before the end of the movie(maybe after a small time jump) where Rey and Ben are married and cooing over their newborn baby(nice parallel to ROTS), and maybe training the first generation of grey Jedi.
