I drive the 2004 model. It is a very comfortable, quiet, good looking car. Maintenace is cheap, my mechanic loves it because it's very easy to work on. It feels sporty and has a very agressive design for a family sedan which i love as a young man. It has great handling during sharp turns. It's what i like to call a "sheep in wolf's clothing". The gear changes are swift despite the heavy flywheel and every passenger i've ever had says something along the lines of "That is a nice Mazda!/It drives very comfortably" and truly, it is probably the best car you can buy in that price range. Everyone loves it. My only two complaints are: 1. Big blind spots in the rear and front, making it difficult to park without some kind of parking assistance. It is very difficult to tell the distance between the bumper and a wall which is why i have to leave the driver's seat to personally inspect the distance between the bumper and a curb, for example. I thought it was just because i lack experience but i once had the joy of driving a friend's Golf 4 and that car was so easy to park compared to mine it felt like kid's game. If you're a learner driver like me i recommend you invest in parking assistance. 2. Its suspension is low and hard which makes for an uncomfortable driving experience on roads with many potholes and irregularities. Which is understandable, this being a City oriented car, but even on a flat dirt road i can hear the bottom scape the ground which just sends shivers down my spine, and even small changes in elevation on the road feel like the car just got hit by a rocket. On one occasion i went to a fairly remote area for a camping trip. On my way back noticed that the entire bottom of my bumper was all scraped up although i basically crawled the whole way there. My aunt drives an Opel Meriva and her car, drives like a jeep compared to my Mazda although the two cars are similar in height. I've had to on many occasions look at a road and go "Yeah, i won't be able to drive through there" which is is just embarrassing.
same here! - i mainly complain about the lack of power in the low range tho (but its so fucking cheap to run- 300km for 17.5 euro when it runs on lpg) - but the bumpers front and back are really hard to not scrape- because they are so far off the view (im accustomed to a mazda tribute- a literal box on wheels). the suspension is kinda hard but its a plus- it feels sporty and helps in handling corners like an absolute animal- although my tires are shit and i've lost traction about 3 times in the last year
Thank you for your experience, you should open a TH-cam channel to give your insight to other buyers or drivers, you literally save me for buying that i should go for kia rio instead.
Very good the test. Specially the test on reverse gear. Despite the weight the car accelerates very well. Mazda is a good brand of car. I like your videos because you don't have fear to accelerate. And you are a good pilot, you change the gears very well. Thank you. God bless you
I have an “11” Mazda 3 GT (Grand touring / 2.5 L) Dual exhaust, Dual overhead cam sunroof, electric seats and warmers, etc. All the bells and whistles.....and FastAF !!!
Had one of these. ABS and traction control module failed and the dashboard started melting. But I really miss driving it, great gearbox, engine was fairly flexible and the handling was agile, it felt like a small sports car.
Damn. Im still using mine (2011) and the only thing that ever broke was my bulb and relay. I want to buy a new one but really trying hard to find a reason why.
@@hxsm8090 Had the 2011, after 44.000 km the ECU broke, the mechanics and an expert of the insurance had the car for 6 months in the garage, they couldn't figure out what it was. Yeah, the costs were a nightmare. Sold it right after the car was repared. I could not take the risk.
I have the same car had it for many years now..incredibly reliable with regular oil changes they can last a lifetime..The 1.6 is a smooth,.peppy engine but needs to be worked quite hard to get the best from it.. it's VVT and loves to be revved hard..
I like your selection of what could be called "real" cars being tested, just a couple of general suggestions: when testing "elasticity" you should do 60-100 or 80-120 in top gear (for manual gearbox of course) in addition to acceleration from 80-120 as example of overtake manoeuvre, also real consuption would be interesting, at typical 80 km/h, 100 km/h and 130 km/h continious speeds, this will give good overview of how economical a car really is.
It seems like a weird beginner car to me. I have a first gen Mazda3 with the same engine. The steering wheel is stiff, shifter is precise, clutch is hard and the gas pedal is very sensitive. It took me while to get used to it after moving on from my first car, but I must admit that I saw a few used as driving school vehicles where I live as well. As a side note: I love this car, it handles like a fwd miata sedan and I looooove revving this engine to get the most out of it :D. Really zippy and fun vehicle
@@zaxlorax7605 I am also glad that my first car as a learner's car was a mazda 3 sedan, it is straightforward and easy to drive. The large blind spot was also perfect for practice.
There is a lot only 105hp can do. Though you could of changed later into 3rd on the elasticity test, because we have the same model and goes up to 120km h in 2nd gear ;)
hello and thanks for nice videos,I have the same version of this car mk2 but hatchback and 2.0l auto.BUT!; it doesnt perform like that! and im assure you I’ve done any service to this car and its in good shape and condition.but if I want to compare it to this video...I dont know what to tell! the results are kind of the same...maybe because of automatic gearbox or 17’ rims??
@@sebastianm3908 just in case you are still wondering, I have the same engine (1.6MZR) in my Mazda3 and I average about 6,9l/100km. I mostly do short trips to work (15km one way) and longer trips to my school (100km one way).
good review but i feel its a waste of space.. there is time for you to actually talk to us about what you feel when you drive. i cant feel that video..
that's what I like about you. Testing the cars to their limits Good Job and Well Done.

Hello, right now very popular used car in Poland - my sister also got it :D
Nice vid !! Cheers !!
Thanks to you, I don t have to rev the crap out of my car to know where the rpm limitator is =) (6:01, 6750-ish rpm)
What really helps this car is its drag coefficient being soooo small for its league.
100 hp more than enough!
Enough speed to get in trouble really.
first ! good vidéo and good car !
Nice video!!😆will you also drive a ford cmax 1.6 TDCi??
those brakes are actually really good
Love the channel and the video's.
I would like to see in the near future a vid. with the mazda3 MPS or 6 MPS, not a lot of them left.
Cheers !
No turbo 100km/h 2nd gear crazy car
Waiting more of reverse top speeds on manual cars!
Nice looking little Mazda. Everything else just basic, simple and nothing special... And not in a bad way, if that's what you look for a car.

This is the specification used as a driving school car in Japan.
I didn't think it could go more than 200 km/h
