This song gave me such chills when I first heard it and HANS FREAKING ZIMMER?!? Two of my favorite things! Her and Finneas are so ridiculously talented
As a singer, I feel much more comfortable belting than doing this. This terrifies me...every little detail (good or bad) is amplified. It's like the difference between a big booming distorted guitar and a quiet arpeggiated clean guitar; distorted guitars are forgiving, but a clean guitar puts your playing under a microscope. I am amazed at Billie's control and musical maturity for her young age. She has SOOOO much vocal control smooth consistency.

Yes on the big belting comment. This is why for example I much prefer Laura Fabian's version of Adagio compared to Dimash's, Dimash is technically more impressive, but Laura really transmits the emotion much better. This is also why Angelina Jordan is blowing up right now.
And that’s why when she DOES belt the impact is there and you appreciate the contrast. It felt like a brilliantly harrowing emotional release.

Would be good if you can show examples of connected versus unconnected voices. At your expert level, that's probably easy to grasp but for nonexperts an example or two helps. Perhaps you can do your own voice. Great review, btw. Learned something new.

Actually not identical. Especially listen to the ending belt that has an extended flourish. As well as the timing being a bit different than the recorded version.
@@calclipx and there is a beautiful run after the belt in live version. I actually listen to live version more than to studio version.
That's really Billie singing.... I've heard other stuff (interviews, etc), where she sings live and her voice is always the same.... no autotune. Love her voice.
