- Quite possibly the best 10,000 Maniacs live television performance...
10,000 Maniacs play Stockton Gala Days live on Late Night with David Letterman. This was the first time the entire band appeared on the show (previous appearances had only Natalie Merchant and Robert Buck perform with Paul Shaffer's band). This was also the final 10,000 Maniacs appearance on Late Night. Taped and aired on June 23, 1993. - เพลง
Incredible moment in music-on-live-TV history; one of their best songs, and there's no way it could have been done better. Just terrific.
My favourite Maniacs song, great fiddle playing, with Natalie in fine form.
Fiddler is the singer I think now.
Very cool, thanks for posting. I saw them 17 days earlier at The Woodlands (Houston) on June 6, 1993. Still one of my favorite albums and bands of all time.
Finally get to see Robert for a entire song
Captured lightening in a bottle with this one!
Good Lord, she was so beautiful...
She still looks pretty good, despite obviously being older
Wow! Natalie is just out of this world here...
Never appreciated her gifts in the moment
Looking back now?
Wow. I have never seen her have an off performance
This is the performance that made me a 10,000 Maniacs fan!
Beautiful Natalie 💕
I always feel this was their peak, this specific performance. But what a way to peak. Totally amazing.
Dave was always the biggest Champion of Natalie, particularly after she went solo. He had a huge crush on her and was in awe of her talent.
Yep, Dave was obviously in love with her. Can’t blame him.
@@MISTERFANCYPANTS1000 agree totally. Still have a crush on her.
I haven’t seen her on his show anytime in the past 20 years, including during the Leave Your Sleep tour. I wonder why they didn’t remain close?
His shown went off the air and she has not been releasing much.
The body language when the song ends is nuts.. Natalie with two hands.. then he's super close but she nudges closer before he goes for the small hug and she raises to the big hug. She must have really liked Letterman. I can't imagine anyone else getting a hug like that 4:23
Four minutes of pure joy!
❤
"We had to lay down where they grow!"
"Here we go"
Fitting words from Letterman.
Your channel's video of this performance has the best sound. Congratulations.
please notice Natalie is dancing to the violin notes
How couldn't we notice? That's her move
Their best song.
Amazing!
No tats, no skank act. Just a great voice from a feminine woman with a fantastic band.
Is that the later singer with them?
no, still Natalie here
I think he means “Is the woman on the violin their current singer, Mary?”
Mary Ramsey looks like Annie Hall with that stylish hat on. Oh yeah, and she sounds great playing with the other superb musicians in the band.
Yes, that is Mary Ramsey on the violin. She replaced Natalie on vocals when Natalie left to go solo.
@@nealm6764 then the band went to shit unfortunately
kind of a pre dave mathews band sound isnt it?
Beauty.❤
