OMG. The guitar work. Forget about it. Absolute sublimity.
Classy, sweet, beautiful, well spoken. That's Natalie Merchant! ❤
1:00:17 Natalie Merchant on guitar
How does nobody see her do magic ✨
SUCH JOY !!!
Beautiful music and voice but somehow she seems so fragile Wonderful guitarist....
Beautiful and owner of a wonderful voice.
É tudo tão bonito, tão emocionante!
Que grande banda! E que cantora e intérprete fantástica!
Long ago, 1976-1979, I would regularly go to Anderson Fair in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston to see Eric perform. Fond memories. Goodnight Irene.
did she call them " the public television of pop music" ? I'm sorry guys, she obviously meant it as a compliment.
My first time viewing this video. Beautiful. Most interesting to me was her duets with Susan McKeown. Their voices matched beautifully. Susan sounded like second Natalie in the room.
❤ second song
The Horseflies were a band from Ithaca, another Upstate New York/Western New York college town. (Well worth checking out!). Delighted when 10KM covered their most atypical song, delighted it has stood the test of time. Thank you all involved. 😎😎
I seen the years before in St Louis at Mississippi Nights and Tracy Chapman open for them what a night
Haven't hear heard voice in years. Loved her sound.
Who in music today has as much heart and soul as Natalie Merchant?
Quintessential breakfast nook music!
Babe.
I dont mean to demean her as an artist. I think she is amazing but, I'm sorry. She is the most beautiful human to ever live.
She sucked solo. Not one good song.
I’m guessing the guitarist was a big reason why she left. His belligerent, over the top histrionics were not fitting for the songs. He may have been an integral part of the songwriting, but he seemed to push his ego out there to try to rise up to Natalie’s level in the band. And dude, that wasn’t happening.
An absolutely breathtaking artist
Check out the bit at minute 4:14 to 5:08 here. Great guitar and dance movement. I even love the duck dance; it's special funk. What a creative little honey she is.
I went to concert 10,000 maniacs opening for REM circa 1985, didnt know much about either band, but now I do. So many bands that I didnt appreciate enough at the time. So many comments appreciating the past, getting older with these music memories helps make it through this soulless world we live in now.
Por Dios, ¡qué mujer! Ese baile, esa sonrisa... absolutamente cautivadora.
She was born in Jamestown, New York. The hometown of Lucille Ball and Roger Goodell. What a talented lady. One of the best songs not of that great year, 1992 but the entire decade. You should of heard them on Letterman back in May. Their first TV performance. She did Carnival in 1995 off the next album on the Late Show with David Letterman on CBS. Give me chills and tears. 👍😃
Every band, if they're so Fortune, has a 'Sgt. Peppers'...Our Time In Eden was theirs. 💚
First time seeing this. Has instantly become one of my favorite videos on TH-cam.
Unmatched storytelling from the best of the lilith generation, no one can compare with her wit & grace.
Yes! She has that inner focus intensity of the 60s Folk Divas like Buffy Sainte Marie, Mary Travers etc ❤
Jen Turner is certainly one of the most underrated guitarists of all time
I was there at the Greek Theater! Thank you so much for posting this! Camper Van Beethoven opened for them. However, I distinctly remember the elephant banner behind the band…not the one from In My Tribe. But then, it was long ago…
When band kids crush it.
Natalie dances like Elaine from Seinfeld.
the interview portion was great! so informative. much learnd
One of the very best ever - the power of Natalie Merchant, in her prime
My son’s Mom turned me on to 10,000 Maniacs. Their music made me fall in Love with her all the more.
Id forgotten how cool it was to be in the 90s.
Always loved her voice and woke up to her CD's years...
Doesn’t get much better, let’s hear it for the band as well!
What a magnificent woman and performer! This just makes me melt!
5:05 she was trying to get the guitarist to laugh 😂
We're u in Schenectady
MAGNIFICENT ❤
I had good taste for a 15-year-old. Geez. I'm so glad this is what was influencing me in my formative years.
Thank you for sharing this video! I wish I'd seen a show on this tour! I was just a little too young. Later I saw her on the Tigerlily tour.
They were spectacular, Natalie - a Goddess, or as she says, a Wonder
Agree 1000%. I heard her respond to a guy in the audience that yell at her in between songs --- "Natalie...I love you" and she responds, by saying ---- "That's because you don't KNOW me." Classic Natalie. The band was amazing. RIP Rob Buck....guy could make his guitar hum and roar.
Chicks rock!
If I only knew that “these days” would become “those days”…man, do I miss this time.
Gahhh I love them sooo much
