Hi. I just started to learn the 4x4. Must I learn the parity alg to solve the 4x4 with the beginner reduction method? I average 22 on 3x3 now I am trying to get into 4x4.
For Z perm you could use the 2e2e AUF and set up an H perm which can be done with your setup to J perm, ig you'd have to do an AUF to change the H perm to 2e2e but I think that's the closest we can get to it. And for E perm you can just set up to Z perm and do the same thing from there.
I want to thank J Perm (and my friend) for these tutorials because I've really advanced with my cubing in just 2 years. surprisingly learning JPerm through roux would help me advance my times from being >40 seconds to >20 seconds!
Since the cube forms a group under the operation of face turns and is algebraically closed by definition you should be able to “add” to any position that if you take the inverse, it ends up being the identity of the group + the “added moves”, the taking the inverse of those added moves should get you to the identity, which is the solved cube
The T perm and F perm ones really killed me hahaha Maybe a pointless video for algs, but I did quite a bit about how perms relate to each other. Have you ever considered a career in academic research?
Hey J perm ! For E and Z perm, here how you can do it : When u do N perm, you can turn it to get 2e2e2c2c, and with Y perm you can turn it into 2e4c, same as Z and E perm, so you can do a setup to Y perm, solve the Y perm with a setup to Jb perm, and undo setup. That would work. Same for the N perm version
If you limit yourself to one Jperm, I’m pretty sure those last cases are impossible. If you give yourself 2, you should be able to intersect the 3 cycles on both to get 2 2 cycles like you need.
If you have 4 corners ABCD, in cycles A B and CD, couldn’t you exchange the position of B and C to get A -> C -> D -> B -> A? effectively transforming a 2e2e into a 4e? Am I missing some theory?
That’s actually brilliant thinking, another method to approach them is for example for a U perm u will be intentionally messing up corners in set up moves in order to make it a jperm, btw I’ll make sure to find an alg for the 2 annoying plls
