Because, for the first ever time we have a region with 16 team as well as having 3 international tournaments, they need to take a year to experiment and figure out they best way to make it work.
The biggest change of all is that the dynamic of NA changes completely. Being the third best team is no longer acceptable. 3rd now is same as last. Which makes rosters like C9 quite confusing, 3rd gets you 0 international appearances.
Ok but, to be fair we have historically blown hard at worlds and don't really deserve 3 slots. Our 3rd seeds losing to wild card teams etc. So at this point why not just give the wildcards another slot? It sucks coming after flyquests performance but, we were too shit for too long lol. Even if fly managed to beat gen G and t1 and make it to finals it wouldn't change anything sadly. NA threw a shit ton of money at lcs spent way too much on everything, and it didn't pan out. Plus we still sucked, flyquest was really impressive this year especially the NA talents but it doesn't matter. Too little too late.

Well, you aren’t losing any slots in practice really as the top 3 teams make it into worlds directly (no more play-ins), so this year NA+SA had TL, FLY, Pain as their 3 teams and they will get 3 teams in next year. Now if both 100T and Pain had both got in this year, it would be a different story. But it was also possible to have both 100T and pain NOT make it and only have 2 NA teams in worlds main event this year.

NA's best worlds performance in years, literally competing with two of the best teams in the world in best of series, and riot takes a sword to NA for a region that is so bad its accomplished absolutely nothing its entire existence and has even been considered the worst wildcard region almost every year which is an actual astonishing accomplishment. To me it communicates that they don't believe in the quality of the sport or the level of the leagues enough to let the sport speak for itself. You want 4 seeds, then tell them to win MSI or at least being the 2nd best region, LPL/LCK lost their 4th seeds, too, only MSI grants you 1 and only 1 seed 4 will make it to the WC Main Stage. Since a long time ago NA shouldn't have more than 1 or 2 seeds.
NA is 10/2 vs SA at internationals and has never dropped a game to Brazil. The only reason the sample size is so low is because Brazil never even makes it to NA in playins 90% of the time. They always got knocked out first.

The relegation system is kinda fucked, if the guest team is a middle of the pack team or better and still gets relegatet on a bad day. Fans wont like that and the league will get a lot of shit for it

Then don’t be a middle of the pack team. Relegation makes the league competitive, keeps the players/teams on their toes and makes them worry and ACTUALLY care about playing well. Don’t want to be relegated? Then don’t put the team in a possible situation of being relegated, bad days or not.
You should imagine worse: the guest team made Worlds (top 3 LTA) but still has to fight relegation after Worlds to play on a completely new patch and lost your spot while an other partner team being bottom feeder all season still stays. I don't want this kind of relegation that can potentially screw a good team.

Merging it with OCE, taking their players, because limited local talent. NACL lost to Latin American teams, BR 2 won, NACL 2 second, LAN 3rd, BR 1 4th, NACL 1 5th, LAS 6th. R7 beat 100, PNG lost 2-0 to TL, but it made TL sweat a lot, plus not a great match, a lot of action, but decided by whom made less mistakes. FLY Vs TL, FLY having a lead and still letting TL taking objectives for free, no macro. Losing to minions in the last LCS ever, just because bad decisions. GEN barely winning 2-3 it says more how bad GEN was than FLY being good, losing to a team without macro and waiting for FLY to run out of comps to win. FLY didn't even have cross mapping, winning teamfights or lane it was why they won 2. Even back in 2012 at IPL5, 6 NA teams, none in the top 4.

The relegation system is kinda fucked, if the guest team is a middle of the pack team or better and still gets relegatet on a bad day. Fans wont like that and the league will get a lot of shit for it
Wild how people are so split on this. Other guy believes the removal of Relegation is killing the esport, while this guy thinks fans will hate it being brought back.
Then don’t be a middle of the pack team. Relegation makes the league competitive, keeps the players/teams on their toes and makes them worry and ACTUALLY care about playing well. Don’t want to be relegated? Then don’t put the team in a possible situation of being relegated, bad days or not.
You should imagine worse: the guest team made Worlds (top 3 LTA) but still has to fight relegation after Worlds to play on a completely new patch and lost your spot while an other partner team being bottom feeder all season still stays. I don't want this kind of relegation that can potentially screw a good team.
@ @ key word is “potentially.” That’s relegation, it provides competition. If a team is tier 1 then prove that they’re better than tier 2 and don’t get relegated. It’s an (e)SPORT, emphasis on SPORT, not a popularity contest of which teams people want in the league. Especially with fearless, patches shouldn’t have too much of an impact on teams if they have deep champ pools. Don’t know the patch, then ban meta champs. Simple.
@@wehttam6988 You don't get it's not full relegation in any league, the only team that can get relegated is DSG in the North, the rest even if finishing last, they won't get relegated, DSG can do well and they're supposed to be the only team sent to a promotion/relegation match. 100 spot belongs to Riot, 100 wanted to get out, but Riot paid for that spot and Riot told them to stay and use it, in 2026 Riot will give that spot to anyone they want.

Having a bad day might mean objecgively worse teams go to worlds. So you could have 2 100Thieves teams there from this region that don't actually deserve to go. If you're a super casual this is probably fine but anyone who at all cares about quality knows this is ass and the death knell of pro lol

If 100T were actually a sick team and beat a good C9 then they would have made new fans at least but by the looks of it, it just seems very high potential to piss of many people. Mark Z even said this in his interview. Riot didn't want to risk Brazil getting left out of worlds for the first few years by just losing to NA teams, so they put in the forced slot to make sure Brazil gets to go to worlds.

In LCK and LPL challengers it is super entertaining to watch and the standings were relative to the standings without fearless draft. Yes it will be super rough in the beginning, just like anything. Full fearless exposes the frauds and one tricks. Makes the players need to get better at more champs and play different styles. Which will just make them better in the long run.
This format and system is garbage. I hate this and Riot games. Now Brazil’s garbage teams have an automatic qualifier to worlds over a NA team that would obviously beat them. Bull shit

The delusion. NA never deserved more than 1 seed, only reason Riot did everything for it, it's because US views get paid well, if not since years ago, it'd have been demoted. Merging it with OCE, taking their players, because limited local talent. NACL lost to Latin American teams, BR 2 won, NACL 2 second, LAN 3rd, BR 1 4th, NACL 1 5th, LAS 6th.
R7 beat 100, PNG lost 2-0 to TL, but it made TL sweat a lot, plus not a great match, a lot of action, but decided by whom made less mistakes. FLY Vs TL, FLY having a lead and still letting TL taking objectives for free, no macro. Losing to minions in the last LCS ever, just because bad decisions.
GEN barely winning 2-3 it says more how bad GEN was than FLY being good, losing to a team without macro and waiting for FLY to run out of comps to win. FLY didn't even have cross mapping, winning teamfights or lane it was why they won 2.
Even back in 2012 at IPL5, 6 NA teams, none in the top 4.

Worlds has never been about the best 20 teams in the world competing. It has always been about the best 1-4 teams from each region competing. Riot wants to include the LTA South in that inclusion and that's fine.
