As a former motor officer, I was trained to mount/dismount from the right side of the bike. Hold the front brake lever with your left hand, and swing your left leg over the seat (let your backrest down first of course). I understand you're trying to keep from scuffing the seat. You look to be somewhat struggling. By holding the front brake lever, the bike won't roll any. Have a safe trip, great video sir!!
Hi Chris, I also use the SENA Impulse on my GW. If you connect your iPhone with the helmet thru the SENA Motorcycle App, you will be able to change a lot of settings. Also you can switch the VOX-Operating Mode to Off. Try this. Normally that should stop the nuisance warnings.
Great to see you out on your beautiful new Goldwing. It sucks riding in hi winds but it happens from time to time. My oneX2 quits from time to time. I think it actually overheats. Never did get it figures out. Ride Safe out there.
Might I suggest to mount the bike from the high side using the foot peg/floorboard. When the bike is on its kickstand, and the wheel is turned to the left, place your right foot on right foot peg/floorboard and grab the right handlebar along with a fistful of brake. At the same time grab the left handlebar and step up. With your torso now much higher throwing your left leg over takes less effort. This also makes it easier to clear a backrest, trunk, or gear with the left leg.
Here in the north country the days are getting very long and warm is 70F if we’re lucky. Now is our riding season for the next 4 months! Remember Cruiseman not to stop close behind any transport trucks on an overpass!
You said the tube drink wasn’t ideal - but I think the way you did it was perfect - that way you don’t need to ride with the tube smashed against the helmet and your face for the 99.9% of time you’re not drinking. Ride on! 🤘🏻☮️
We have used Waze in our Honda Accord with Apple CarPlay for years. It became our go to for navigation when we saw how other Wazers warn of road hazards. Waze has also routed us around many traffic jams and road closures. I’m looking forward to hearing your take on it.
I had to laugh when I saw you grab your pant leg to help pull your leg over….that’s exactly what I have to do sometimes! And only $3.15/gal….wow…we’re at $4.29 here in Oregon, and I understand my area is the least. Safe riding!
I dont motovlog but I do use camera to record my rides using a DJI 3 and was looking at 360 hot sure yet , I might get a DJI4 and use both , never had an issue with the DJI to date after 1 year. Going for a nice long ride next 3 days with my harley buddy , a Can-am ryker and an Harley odd team Alain & Yellow
I guess that R/ L mounting method needs to added to all the other stupid stuff we argue about: Oil - Kill Switches - Tire Pressures - How to break in the bike, etc.? Mounting the bike: Does the 5'6" rider do it the same as the 6'6" rider?
I also get the same message from my Sena headset. I have tried to reduce the VOX sensitivity. It seems to happen when there is a strong wind. I will be interested in hearing what you discover.
I have my carlink working great now. I turn on my headset before turning on the bike, then when I start the bike, I make sure my bluetooth on my iPhone is connected to the bike. Then it takes a min or so, but it links up every time. Also make sure you don't have a bluetooth connection for your headset that is separate. I deleted my bluetooth connection for my Sena. That seemed to be an issue before that made the connecting to the bike spotty.
I said "I make sure my bluetooth on my iPhone is connected to the bike." What I meant to say was that I make sure the phone is bluetooth'd to the Carlink. sorry
Always Enjoy your videos. Now with the 2024 Goldwing. I'm looking forward to your new content on this bike. I did look seriously at buying a Honda Goldwing because of you. Here's the but my 2017 Indian Roadmaster Classic and I have been together from day one. Thanks
I love these bikes. The only concern for me is the lack of range, which at this point is a deal breaker for me. I can ride over 300 miles on one tank on my GSA and do so often. Honda needs to address ss this issue. Safe travels.
I’m one of those riders that likes to get off and stretch every so often and the range on my ‘19 is even more than my 65 year old body likes to handle, plus it gives my brain a bit of a break as I always ride with my head on a constant swivel. The 275 mile range is fine with me.
Its the cruising at 75 that's really killing your mpg. I do 75 on the way to work every day and that's about what I get for mpg. What seat are you on? Stock? Looks like stock but not sure if you've got a RDL or wingsoft. I have an ultimate on the way and am looking forward to it
Chris why didn’t take 180 mineral wells and palo pinto etc ,instead of 20 to Midland and Odessa ,makes far more interesting ride ,Chris Hurst Texas 🇬🇧 ,try make breakfast sometime in near future ,hopefully meetup
I’m in Hurst too Chris. We can ride up to breakfast sometime. I’m in the hood behind the famous bakery on the corner of harwood & hurstview. Meet there some morning.

Waze is too busy for me and with adds. Although sometimes I use it to know if cops are out hiding. X3 - can be it is overheating? Do you keep it on stand-by or do instant on/off?
I have not been getting any ads. X3 could be overheating, but I have also had it freeze indoors at 75 degrees. It has shut down circuitry in case of overheating without corrupting files.
I always enjoy your road trips. Wish you had more of them. What kind of water system are you using do you? Do you have any plans to come back to Southern Honda for maintenance and maybe a meet and greet again
Good Evening Cruiseman, sorry to see the X3 froze on your journey. I have the same camera, but it has not had the same utilization yours has. Do you think the outside air temperature and hot winds caused it to overheat. I don’t know which microphone is picking up the bike mechanicals and exhaust, but it sounds really good. I saw another commenter asked about how you attach your camera to your helmet chin piece. Is it one of the standard curved GoPro mount plastic pieces or have you found something different? As far as mounting/dismounting the bike, I use the driver foot pegs or in my case, Goldstrike three rail floor boards. I’ll mount/dismount when bike is on center or side stand, fold the driver backrest and swing my leg over the pax seat, making sure I don’t hit the pax armrests or backrest. I’m also leaning forward over the instrument pod as I do this. I’m only 5’11” tall, but I’m heavy and can’t pick my leg up and over the seat anymore. The last thing I want to do is scuff my RDL seat. By the way your brother’s car looks identical to the 2001 Black Corvette with polished wheels I had in the early 2000’s. Great reliable car with excellent gas mileage. Safe trip home.
I suppose it's because I spend a lot more time on two-lane roads, but I don't think I've ever gotten less than 50 mpg on my 2020 with the manual transmission, usually around 52-53. I see and read about numbers considerably lower, like your numbers. I pretty much always ride in tour mode. Guess I'm going to have to take an interstate road trip to find out if that's the difference. Not really an interstate highway fan though.
gday mate we are paying 2.19 a litre here in aus i think a gallon is 4.5 litres so you cant complain about that price . what is wrong with your leg did you injure yourself ?
I started following your channel because we both owned the 2018. I also did a lot of the same modifications that you shared on the channel. At least you kept the Sena Impulse helmet : ) I noticed you still have that silly sticker on your fuel door, LOL. I'll keep following but I am NOT going to buy a new GW. How did you mount the GoPro to your helmet, and what mount did you use for your mirror 360 camera? Cheers.
Question I have 2018 GW/DCT-Tour is there a big difference between 2018 to 2024 GW/DCT-tour I was thinking about upgrading but a still love 💗 my 2018 GW What is your thoughts on opinion?
You may have convinced me to throw a leg over a goldwing in the near future. I'm a new rider on one of the newer honda Shadows, and I'm addicted to riding. I mainly purchased it because of its affordability, and my lack of riding experience. 1 month and 1,200 miles in, and I'm hoping to build my confidence further to be able to try out a gold wing in a year or 2. I love the shadow, but i can't ride for more than 2 hours without needing to get off the bike and walk around. Does the wing have that much more comfort to help with that? I mainly commute to work, and enjoy riding all over East Texas on the weekends. Everything I've read so far is saying it's the gold standard of touring and reliability. Love your content. Stay safe!
I rode my new to me 21 to New Mexico recently and I found the seating position was very cramped. I am 6’3” and I also fo7nd the bars way to low even with risers. But that DCT is the bomb. Got to figure out the comfort stuff
I solved that problem with a Corbin seat that sits me 2” further back to fit my 6’5” self. Also a Klock Werks recurve windshield. Once these were in place, the handlebar position was ok,at least for me.
Quick question about your purchase from Southern Honda in CHA - (if you can share ) - did they charge you a freight charge? Any other charges - markups? When I bought my 23 DCT Tour in NJ, they charged me all of the above. I paid it...and I regret that big time. Again, congrats on the new machine. As always, I love your channel. Thanks!
You can activate wayz on your phone very easily and the rivco highway pegs do not flex at all you probably could stand on them 5 way adjustable nice video ride safe good travels
I never was so sleepy and bored riding from DFW to Midland, which (sorry) I coined the worlds most ugly city. No redeeming values, just smelly, hot, windy and miserable! Being from such a cold land I found 80F heat so opressive and I know it can and does get MUCH hotter there!

Like getting on a horse - left foot on left peg, stand up and swing right leg over the saddle.
Yup, You know what they call people without beards.
Not when your wife is on the back. At my age I am starting to struggle to get on the bike when there are two of us
It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.
Hi Chris, I also use the SENA Impulse on my GW. If you connect your iPhone with the helmet thru the SENA Motorcycle App, you will be able to change a lot of settings. Also you can switch the VOX-Operating Mode to Off. Try this. Normally that should stop the nuisance warnings.
looks like a nice ride. I lived in Midland in 1978, worked for Schlumberger.
In the police department we always put our gas cap on the left foot peg...that way you'll never ride off without it. ;)
Great to see you out on your beautiful new Goldwing. It sucks riding in hi winds but it happens from time to time. My oneX2 quits from time to time. I think it actually overheats. Never did get it figures out. Ride Safe out there.
When you get to Pilot in Big Spring be careful with trucks backing up 😂😂have a great trip
I was VERY careful.
We always stop at Allens Family Dining in Sweetwater when we ride thru. Highly recommend.

Especially with my F4 Customs sail installed.

You have to do a factory reset then it will default to VOX turned off.
