    Just my take on the situation: the black car moved to the right, which gave me the false split second impression of him making space for me to overtake. In reality, he most likely positioned himself for the left hand corner and turned in. My fault is to assume things and being eager to pass in a dangerous section. His fault is to not look in the mirrors. Touristenfahrten (public road) rules say the traffic needs to stay right to allow faster traffic to overtake on the left. So legally speaking he was at fault. In my opinion it is 50-50.

    As someone who in the majority of cases is against regulation, because in 99% of the cases it's damaging overregulation, I'm very much in favor of requiring Ring drivers to have absolved a short training course consisting of track knowledge and basic track driving skills such as "eyes on the road, and anytime you can afford looking away briefly, eyes on the rear mirror".

    • @comedicsketches

      "absolved"

    • @meatybtz
      @meatybtz 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +6

      Isn't eye scanning (mirror scanning) a basic automotive operation skill, even on normal roads. Your eyes should always be moving between the various mirrors and the road. Not just when you are changing lanes. It's about situational awareness. It's not about moving your head or not paying attention to what is in front of you it's a systematic scanning of your environment. Something that has saved my butt on normal US Highways more than once when a speed-racer overtakes at +40-60mph over the speed of traffic so they come out of nowhere relative and if you are not keeping up that constant awareness you won't be able to react to them. I am no angel having done +100mph over speed of traffic. But I understood the nature of the relative differences in speed and other drivers that are on the road 1mile out, as that was my gap-close so I was keeping track of what everyone was doing in front that far out to prevent sudden surprises on overtake. I won't do something that stupid again. But I can't stand in an ivory tower because I did do something that stupid. I think on the 'ring folks get tunnel vision. It's kind of thing that inexperienced drivers in high speed road course traffic experience. They are so focused on their own positioning and how to attack the next corner their awareness narrows dangerously down.

    • @meatybtz
      @meatybtz 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@stoneeh You should be paying attention equally on a normal road. It could save your life there. The difference in the ring is that you have a low experience driver trying to drive to the limits of his car. Which is where problems start. I am sorry. I've done historic racing and many other road courses in my life. I don't accept the blaze driving of Americans and certainly expect better of Germans.
      As for the speed differential it's kind of my pet peeve about the Ring. Speed differentials are trouble. Slow cars should not be on the track with really fast cars and low experience drivers should not be on the track with high experience drivers. They need to be grouped by class as in speed and experience to reduce the speed differential problem. It is extremely dangerous, period, to have a 100+km/h differential between cars sharing a road or track. This is regardless of driver skill and experience.
      I feel it's a miracle that there are not really bad multi-car wrecks there more often. When you've got a GT3 doing 240km/h coming into a turn with a 3 or 4 car traffic packet doing maybe 100km/h tops, there may simply be no time to react, even with a professional driver's reflexes. This applies to both the faster car and the slower cars, neither may be able to even have the reflexes to react.

    People are too fast to judge the Opel driver for not using his mirrors. It was clearly a very busy day, look at all the traffic in front of the Opel. The lesson to take here is not to assume too easily and too eagerly the driver in front has seen you unless the use their indicators. With all the traffic in front, it was unnecessary to make a dive in Schwedenkreuz. The overtaking car has the responsibility to make a safe pass, ESPECIALLY during a Touristenfahrten day.

    Carry big pace on TF and you will get issues like this. To expect novices to do everything right is not what good drivers do. Up to the fast drivers to drive for the slow ones, always has been and always will be.. The gap looked like it was going to close, it did and that happened. Of course the other guy should have been more aware, but it could well have been his first ever lap with zero experience. Easy talking as many commentators do on here (but most have never track, ringed or raced so are utterly clueless) about what he should have done, but you know well Misha that many or most drivers in TF are not high standard, highly experienced track guys and girls. we do track days for a reason and even then you can still get bad track errors but the risk is smaller. TF = High Risk TF.= Novice Hell . Only as you asked :)

    I like you Misha and know that you are "good" guy.
    If you're asking, there's a little "BUT." From a racing perspective, if they hit you, it's a 50/50 situation. The first 50% is on black car because you had nowhere to evade, and the other 50% is on you because your front axle wasn’t aligned with their seat, meaning they were the leading car and dictated the racing line. From the perspective of free driving, it’s highly debatable. Of course, the rule is to stay on the right and check the mirrors, but every petrolhead on the track knows that the ideal and safe racing line (especially in fast corners) doesn’t always follow the right edge of the track.
    Considering the fact that you’re a professional, more of the responsibility lies on your side for interpreting their slight move to the right as an evasive maneuver. Personally, I would have waited for an indicator or simply wouldn’t have forced my way through at that speed and in that location. Mitigating circumstance: you handled the "crisis situation" brilliantly, so no big deal... I’ll just add that sometimes slower is better than faster, especially when it’s not about a trophy.

    IMHO the Opel was after an overtake and moving to the right to prepare for Schwedenkreuz. You were just covered by the bump when he started to brake to enter the corner.
    He might have lost sight of you for a brief moment, and next thing he knew, you were next to him. He indicated no intentions to let you pass, so it's unfounded to assume.
    I don't think anyone would take the right side of Schwedenkreuz on a 'fast' lap. For most TF drivers this corner is of pucker-factor grade so next to no one will check mirrors here.
    Most TF drivers have less experience so if seasoned TFers push them, some will go beyond their limits. This is something to expect and a responsiblity of those more experienced.

      I've noticed Misha is often a touch slow out the gate compared to other cars - maybe still feeling out the car a bit before pushing it, generally the section around 6:08 up the hill gives a good indication of how legit the power really is.

    The Corsa just wasn't using their mirrors. It isn't hard to see a bright green object that literally had the nose next to the driver's door. They had a lot of space in front of them so people defending the Corsa for that seem wrong in my opinion. It was busy around that area but not at the corner of the near miss. And the fact they don't pull to the side on the next downhill further shows they were not checking behind. To be fair, they did not use their signals to let Misha through but that also makes me think they did not intend for Misha to overtake later on either. They may have just been trying to take a racing line there.

      He was focused on taking the 100mph+ corner not his mirrors. I'm not saying the corsa is innocent but it's a public road open to amateurs, it's to be expected.

    I feel like you though he saw you, but he had to take that line for the corner . So basicly , you came in hot, he didnt see you , you reaction was extremely calm and good, so he should be more aware on track for other cars, and you, i guess you could prevent such close calls by not pushing as much. But as i said, you handled it so good, its like nothing happend .

    Same as the road, never assume - it makes an ass(outof)u+me! You drive the ring so much that sometimes you get overconfident with passing people who don’t have a clue what they are doing, just expect the worst Misha never forget.

    50 50. Perhaps Mischa was too confident going in and taking it for granted the Corsa driver had seen him, and the Corsa driver for poor situational awareness and not looking in the mirrors. Good reaction by Mischa saved it.

    At that corner, given the bankment of the road almost 90% of drivers are gonna go left to hit that apex naturally. He would'nt have seen you as you were already in his blind spot after the crest. So you being a ring expert and this being TF, I would expect you to slow down rather than trying to pass him at that spot.

  • @WeirdBrick
    @WeirdBrick 29 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

    Misha presuming someone had seen him nearly killed someone here. This would have been a train wreck and to live with that would be awful just because you couldn’t be patient for one second. If you’re not 100% sure you stay behind.
    If this was the first instance like this I wouldn’t say this but it regularly happens where he dives up the inside when the other car has clearly not given way. He’s literally bullying his way through.
    And when Misha is the lead car in this situation he most definitely doesn’t give way instantly! There’s been times he’s held faster cars up for 5-6 corners so the move over if you’re slower clearly applies different meanings when he’s driving..
    I love the channel, I love his content, passion and drive but he and others like him need to be far more cautious in the future.

    Maybe the driver of the black car was committed to that line to make the turn. Coming off throttle and braking to let you by may have unsettled the car and caused loss of control. I think you in the more capable car should have waited until after the turn to line him up.

    I’d say he should be looking. It’s just like the autobahn expect there’s certain sections where you really aren’t supposed to pass unless you’re super quick. But in this case this if your driving style is always changing as it should, you need to keep an eye out for driving lanes n nuances around to avoid stuff like this. It’s just the hill they drove up on and driver going kinda wide a tiny bit. If you come wide then short look 👀
