Looking back on this scene years later, I fully understand Mylene now. I also still empathize with Zeke :( but Mylene wanted to transition into a new life by doing what was best for her and Zeke couldn’t grasp that here. He loved her and wanted to give her the world, no doubt. But because she loved and wanted good things for him too, it hurt her differently that he wasn’t putting that same effort into himself. Mylene eventually set her sights on prospering with or without Zeke. Very sad scene but full of a lot of honesty on both ends.
@@rashaadbrown175 seeing someone have so much potential literally throw it away is hard asf it’s hard wanting more for someone that don’t abt it for themselves she came off aggressive but she is getting hers and knows he is capable of getting his but he is not putting forth effort to get there. Her actions were because she saw so much in him just like his aunt, uncle and teacher. When she said she didn’t love him she didn’t really mean it she just wanted him to do right by himself.
I think she just wanted to do right for herself… "I want to be with a man who got goals, and have plans"… Zeke goals and plans was to make Mylene happy no matter what… And he got passion for writing and many things actually… I felt that shit because I’m that kind of dreamer too.. And I got my heart broken kinda the same way… By telling me i’m just a kid from the neighborhood, who has for only ambition loving people he cares the most about… After that, goals and plans… 🤷♂️
*SPOILERS* but... Watching this scene again after watching part 2 is even more heart breaking, cause if you pay attention, you realize that the piano melody that starts playing as he tells her how he feels is from "See You On The Other Side," which knowing where their relationship seems to be headed as they go off to pursue their own dreams at the end of the season... it just kind of foreshadows how tragic their relationship seems to be. They both obviously really do love each other, but they want different things out of life, and those paths seem to lead them away from each other. I mean, yeah, if he ends up pursuing a career in the music industry, they could still end up traveling in the same circles and being together, but for right now, it doesn't look like things are going their way.
jaxon3333 doesn't mean it was Mylene, Yolanda, and Regina. Could be any back up singers. Not like the lyrics would be some secret thing that no one else would be allowed to sing. Like, I'm not saying it's definitely not them, but it isn't necessarily definitely them either
She did love him as much as he did. But she wanted him to be the best he could be. She saw the greatness in him and if he didn’t see that she didn’t want to be with him until he unlocked his true potential. Which he did in season 2
My 3rd favorite Mylene/Ezekiel scene. My first being the poem, my second being the rooftop scene. Mylene was at her best when she was so sweet to Jackie and Zeke in the latter scene's episode, imo.
Years later this scene still breaks my soul ... she was so cold to him, knowing he's all he got in that world simce losing both parents .He poured his soil into her just to be called a boy from the neighborhood and she don't love him ... Love can be so cruel sometimes and this proved just that
This scene breaks my heart because I understand it so well. Both sides, the hurt the longing for them to stay but can’t do anything about it you feel like your losing control of everything. And the hurt from knowing you have to let someone go because you have to choose you and do better for you! The guilt, the heartbreak that you’ve ultimately caused yourself, the constant second guessing!
I felt bad for Zeke personally. Mylene acting like they grown ass adults. I understand she wants to be a singer and she wants everything planned out. But not everybody got to plan it out like she does. And it pisses me off how. She says she wants a man but she not even a full ass adult yet. Does she think being a women means sneaking out of her parents house to go to a strip club to go persuade a guy with money? Then she has the audacity to breal Zeke's heart. Thats wild to me
Courtney TD And not only that, but she was talking about how Zeke doesn't know what he wants, but from the show I felt like throughout the whole show Mylene acted like she didn't even know what she wanted the whole time
@liz c Mylene has me so mad to cuz fr this is so sweet and Zeke goes through so much for her and right like the main post said plans don't always go the way you wanted it but shit you hurt one of the only people who actually loved you for all of you and not just for fame or figure.
everyone saying Mylene was a bitch but honestly i feel for her. She was trying to shut him down as best as possible so he got the point. In her world, she's been told no by her father, and distanced from her dream of becoming a singer, and now that she finally has the opportunity for her wings to grow, she has another problem. Which is Zeke confessing his love for her. And in her mind that's just another chain to her leg, because she's trying to get out of the Bronx. She can't fall in love with a man who still doesn't see a future ahead of him. And don't say that's not true, because he specifically said that. I think the only reason she gave it in such a bitchy way was because she was trying to get him to understand that it's not going to happen. I also think in some way she felt like all she was saying was a lie, so to make HERSELF believe in her own words, she became harsh about it. Her story is a story about a girl wanting to use her wings and fly, and I think they gave nailed in perfectly. People who fight for their dreams don't want to be blind sighted by anything, and Zeke was definitely a blind spot. She would have to work around her dreams to make it work with him and she's been wanting this since a young age. But I do feel for Zeke tho. When she was giving it to him, I was like ouch.
I came back to this scene after watching the joker movie this October 2019 and it looks very similar to the scene where the joker dances down the stairs!
Smh. I can relate to the fact Zeke told her how he loves and feels for her but she wanna say she dont love him and he's a boy which is really heartbreaking 💔💔. Now most of these females wonder why a man is scared to show feeling or tell a female how he feels 😒💯
Serious question: Are those stairs the same stairs that were in the famous scene from the Joker? The ones by the corner of Jerome and Shakespeare Avenues, near the 167th Street Station for the 4 Train. Someone help me out.
As much as i hate to admit, Mylene was in the right at the time, he showed no prowess at the time 😢, this hurts me saying this cause i can relate to Zeke 😢

@@jedikobean2307 your point?

Hey, look, this was filmed before the joker made these stairs famous.

This scene made Zeke the joker
Who cares.
Ezekiel 😚😍😍
Why is she crying?! She broke his heart... Poor Zeke 😟😢💔
Because she knos she loves him too but she feels he not going to amount to nothing that's pretty much why she called him a boy
because she’s disappointed at the wasted potential Zeke has, at least before he found his calling as a wordsmith/rapper
And thus future was born
