I ride a 2007 990 adventure. Had the rear brake fluid boil on a really slow and hard ride. The line runs quite close to the exhaust on the way to the abs module under the seat. I added some heat shielding and havent had a problem since. Maybe the heat caused your orings to start failing
Hey thanks for the tip! I had a good look under mine today and found some of the body plastics are melted from the exhaust heat (i'm in tropical Malaysia...) so will wrap the pipes with heat shielding this week. Also I reckon my brake fluid was boiling also, upon bleeding I found inside the unit evidence of cooked oil.
Yes! That was the second option i had to this. I might actually replace/upgrade the rear break at some point but thats a later video:) thanks for sharing!
Indeed a very common problem😯 my fix didnt last too long tho. For a more permanent solution i think im going to remove the lid or change the whole fluid container🤔🤔
@@OakstreaMC yeah I got to one trail today and started leaking again. Gonna find a better fitting o ring or get someone to weld a bit of metal over the whole and be done with it….

My 990 SMR would do that. I rebuilt the master cylinder and polished the inside of the master cylinder as there was pitting in it. Sorted mine

Dont use grease to lube the seal! Just use brake fluid ...... its sticking because it needs cleaning properly.

I have a 2010 KTM 990 that just left a nice puddle of brake fluid on it's parking spot - same thing - the little plastic sight window leaking!
