You're so welcome! Making introductions clear is key, so I'm thrilled it landed well. Glad to have you on board - what are you most excited to learn more about?
very well tutorial. I need some advice on how to synchronize my chapters as they are all different colors how can I do this? and ,make them on the same page (left)
Hi thank you for this video, I'm really new with Indesign and this process. I'm wondering when setting the current page number why is it a letter? edit: I figured it out and followed all the steps. For my book I want an Intro blurb, a history of my topic blurb so like a few pages of this before chapters start plus a table of contents so I'm guessing I would just edit the header text box, sorry I'm so rusty at this
First of all, thank you for taking the time watching and commenting. I really appreciate it. Second, congratulations on starting to learn how to use Indesign (great tool). So, for your book, you create any pages that will be repeated many times in the Master Page section so you don't have to design them again and again. If you have a header to be used on all pages, design it in Master page. You can create table of contents in the Page Section. Hope this helps. 😀
You can write on any app you're used to - Affinity Publisher, Word, Google Docs, PP, Indesign, etc. Just make sure that you set up the document to fit your printer's guidelines. :) I personally use Indesign because I'm used to it and it's easier to manipulate stuff. :)
Free for creating books? If you want really good quality for your books, you have to invest a little on great softwares like Indesign or Affinity Publisher. :)You can create on Canva too - it's free - and has lots of templates but you have to do lots of stuff for setting up your document especially if you're printing books or doing print on demand. :) OR Designrr - has lots of templates as well.
Can you help me out? When I convert a document in InDesign into a pdf doc, there are 4 page that show up blank. When I look at them thru the page view, they are blank, but not normal view. Is that a setting somewhere that I can't find? It happened when I converted the pdf into word as well. uggh computers driving us nuts all of the time.
:) Hi Kaylene, when you save anything in Indesign, all pages will be saved (including those that are blank) unless you specified which ones are to be saved only. If you don't want blank pages, simply delete them from your page section. :)
@@travelingdesigner No, they aren't blank in my document looking at them normal size on my computer, but the page view looking at thumbnail size, they are blank. I don't want them blank. I want what is on the page to be converted to a pdf. uggh. Can you think of some setting where it makes them blank in the thumbnail sketch page view and it is converting from that instead of the normal size view which has the images I want. uggh computers.
I can't think of any reason why it's happening like that. Whatever you have in your pages section should be the same in your working section. If you double click on a page on the pages section, it will show up in your working section. See if it's blank or not. Apologies, I wish I'm able to see your set up..:)
Hey thanks for the reply 10:50@@travelingdesigner. I edit the master page, I add the text where the Chapters will be, but when I apply the master to any pages added, the ChapterText is uneditable(like it is an element, not editable text)
Oh, you want to edit the chapter text on the Page Section. :) Normally, you cannot because it's from the master however, there's a workaround on that. Just right-click on that page (from the page section) then click on OVERRIDE ALL PARENT PAGE ITEMS. :)
Great video and it helped my project to set up page numbers. It was a bit fast, and I had to pause and rewind a lot (I'm 62) and your version has 'master page' while the USA politically correct 2023 version now replaced the word 'master' for 'parent page' so some people don't get so offended. In the USA even the word 'master bedroom' now appears in new floor plans as 'primary'. Just nonsense
haha oh wow! :) Really? Oh well, the times we're in right now! :) Anyway, thank you so much for tuning in and sorry if it's fast. You can always slow down or make videos faster in YT - just click the gear icon (settings) and select your Playback Speed. :) Hope that helps. Happy new year to you and your family! Enjoy the rest of the year!!

Great. :) You can always create the chapter page in Master pages and use it for every chapters in your book. :)
Više nego odlično. Hvala vam.

Hi where's the part two? 😃
Is their a part 2?
Hi may I ask, why we don't put a bleed inside pages? What If I added a bleed for back up? Is it matter/ affect things?
Normally, you put bleed if you have images/graphics/photos that extend all the way to the edges of your template.
@@travelingdesigner I see, Thank you for the info. :)
Always a pleasure! :)
Thanks
Welcome 😀Thanks as well.
When I apply A Master to the remaining 9 pages (I select those 9 pages) and it applies to all 10. Weird
hmmm just change the other one to whatever master page it should be using. :)
can this be converted into a pdf? if so how?
When you create something on Indesign, you can always export it as PDF right away. :)
