Hey very impressive mix. I can hear each instrument equally well within their own ranges. I like how the Bass Guitar is a little bit on top but not interfering too much with kick or guitar. are you clipping it a little bit on the input? very nice. great vocal balance and effects. what processing are you running on vocals? plosives and sibilance are very well tamed. overall world class mix , bravo
thank you @Stanley. We were using a Millennia pre amp for the bass but like most musicians once u sound check they will change their gain.. I compress it only for peaks. The vocal goes straight to the compressor after Eq and I have an eq on both the Reverb and delay to make them pop.
Did you sit in the room at the time this was recorded? No. Ok. Because this is a live-mix and not mixed after the show. Depending on the configuration of their PA this must have sounded great this way.
@@markalexwhite we are listening to his headphone output. Maybe the kick was also routed to a set of subs, which is a common technique in for live sound. Therefore its not in the Stereo Out that we are listening to.
@@markalexwhite I'm not the one to judge the sound, coming out from a headphone out which isn't meant to record high-quality live-mixes ;) You just can't compare a live-mixed version with the version that was mixed afterwards. That's why i never record stereo-mixes of my live shows. Because of the aux-sub-feed technique the mix will def. lack punch, instruments and frequencies. Also it depends a lot on the room acoustics. Maybe the kick itself was already pretty punchy on its own and didn't need a lot of lower mids or thump. I assume the bass was on DI and pretty quiet on stage, so he got him louder. ;)
Hey. Great Mix! We are thinking of getting a Soundcraft Vi6 for our broadcast mix. Our plan is have the board receive audio from the Dante network. Any suggestions on how to do that?
That isn't a church - that's a country club. Think of how many people in need in their community could be helped if they sold that console and stopped paying the musicians. Play or free - it's worship not charity. All feel good - no theology.

No punch in the kick drum - bass guitar smothering it!
