Do you guys think it's balanced? I know Rohan went a bit aggro with his troops and later the cavalry but they wiped out a whole army early on, and Isenguard's equip wasn't working forcing them too take more damage and it was still quite a close battle, what did Rohan have left, 2 spears and Cav gen? Amazing battle none-the-less though.
I’ve been looking into Total War Attila and Total War Medieval 2 coming from Rome 2, hopefully the ai can play well with these mods because I’m too antisocial to play against other people lol
@@jordyj4126 what's your specs? when it got out, it was so poorly optimized, the devs issued a statement that it was designed for "future" gpus. utter bullshit, but to run any total war while enjoying the battles, you need a gaming rig.
I mean, you aren't strictly wrong, in the sense that "magically tortured elves" are the root source of all orcs/goblins, back when Melkor created their species. But the Uruk-hai, specifically, were said to be orcs combined with men, through the sorcery of Saruman. In fact, when "Sharky" takes over the Shire, he has a goon squad of "goblin-men," who appear to be a variation of this same combination, but these ones have more man than orc in them, whereas the Uruk-hai are more orc than man. They couldn't each be individual corrupted elves, for the simple fact that there aren't enough elves left in Middle Earth for Saruman to build an army by capturing and converting them one-to-one. Even if Saruman did try, once more than a couple dozen elves went missing, people like Galadriel and Elrond would notice that their people were being systematically kidnapped. You definitely aren't going to be able to create the thousands of Uruk-hai that attack Helm's Deep without sacking Lothlorien or something of that scale.
@@boosterh1113 you are 100% correct. I forgot they were merged with men, not elves, and that makes a lot more sense given the populations - which is something I was kinda questioning when I posted. Thanks for the correction!
1:38 the battle is actually quite lore friendly as in the books Isengard do attack Edoras while the Rohan army is at Helm's Deep. Edoras is defended by Grimbold and his soldiers and they are victorious. We just don't hear much about it and it isn't covered at all in the films. Edit: This is false information but maybe could have happened???? You never know
@@confusedfrodo I think they were mustering in Edoras but Gandalf was suspecting an attack and got them to move to Dunharrow. Then Gandalf went to relieve Helm's Deep
I like to think that you're really only seeing the king's hall & the front gates in the movies. Edoras is supposed to be a city, so of course there would be more to it. Housing, artisans, shops, a marketplace, et cetera. Maybe you're actually seeing the whole city in the game
In the movie they did wrong by Edoras. They kinda made it look like a small cliff that is outside my house with a hut on top of it, with barely 10-15 houses in it a just a couple of roads. It is depicted way better in the books.
Should've had the Isengard armies closer together and the siege equipment working would've turned the tide. Isengard definitely would've won then I think.
I feel like realistically, this map is much more realistic then the movie, it's much bigger to house the amount of troops that arrived during the battle of minis tirith, and WE SEE FARM LAND TO FEED THE PPL OF ROHAN
Rohan is one of the largest nations in Middle Earth. Rohan is not just Edoras. Those riders came from all over Rohan, not just Edoras. I love the movies, but you don't get the full scope of the world until you look at some maps from the books. Rohan has more than enough land to house and feed 6k Rohirrim.
@@AzureSkyNG2 That is a very good argument many people would assume, however Edoras is the capital of Rohan and/is supposed to be the biggest city in the lands of Rohan. Being the biggest city of a nation means a bigger population which means attraction of trades, goods, etc. It's also supposed to be the most secure city of the nation (which you can find historically in many capitals around Europe like Paris). The movies depicted this horribly. Even if Rohan was more spread out, there should still be fields of farms around the city, this was seen in every large capital cities around the world. Thus I wait to be proven right.
@@AzureSkyNG2 plus Rohan being a calvary nation should of had fields of horses roaming around outside the capital, It is overall the capital, which would had have its security and resources as a capital should have if there were fields of agriculture.
there is no option where 2-3 units that are halved to regroup and merge them into 1 new unit? I think that would be a good option and a realistic option?
I think Siege Towers and Battering Rams are waaaaaaaaay too prevalent in Total War and sadly this makes defending walls very uncommon which is totally unrealistic
To be honest this battle lacked some of the finesse of more experienced players and show through their aggressive tactics and the many faults on both sides, attackers held to much in reserve, the defenders tried to hold the same space for too long and both sides regularly pushed units to far leaving them exposed to counter attacks. That aggressive play at the beginning was well done. But the Rohan players then failed to rally the cavalry and perform harassing attacks on the reserve attack forces despite the fact the attackers remaining cavalry was outmatched significantly.
well they did bring lots of good things when they conquered places, e.g. aquaducts and protection from less kind invaders etc. There is one scene in Life of Brian which highlights this for me (admittedly it isn't the most historically accurate film but still..)
@@confusedfrodo I agree they did good things, but it's kinda hard to say they're the good guys when they are practicing imperialism. The closest they came to being the "good guys" was against her various invaders and only then because when you take a city, the citizens were harmed the most. I would argue that there has been very few times where any nation has had enough moralistic high ground to be called good.

Uruk-hai be like: I once had a hen who could count her own eggs. She was a mathemachicken.
General :- dies.
Isengard :- Calm .
Pikemen :- Dies .
Uruk hai and total Isengard army :- Man we dead .

Kudos to the players who play as the attackers thay never give up even thou the siege equimnt has glitch they still played it very well
Yeah, the siege equipment can be a pain in the ass in Atilla
