    If you open up the sampler and then minimize the full MainStage window behind the sampler that should fix your drag & drop files issue. Hope that is helpful to you!

    Thanks for this tutorial, it’s a good one, I would love to know how to reverse a piano in these Sampler in order to use it at any song. I tried but this Sampler is so different from the previous one.
    Thanks a lot.

      Thanks for the kind words!
      To reverse a sample you’ll need to open the “mapping” window and click the button on the top right with a “Z” on it. In that area you’ll see all the samples and a button that says “reverse” if you click that so that it turns yellow then the sample will play in reverse.

    this video is super helpful. love that i found this.
    question for anyone who does see this, say i have two samples on one key, i want sample 1 to fire right away, but sample 2 to fire 4 seconds AFTER the key is struck.
    How would you add delay to a sample, if possible?

    • @CatherallAudio
      @CatherallAudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m glad the video was helpful!
      For a situation like that I would create the sample with the desired space in Logic. When bouncing you can place the audio sample in measure 2 of your Logic timeline, and then when bouncing have it start from measure 1 so it’ll have the desired space. If you want more space beforehand then you can keep moving the audio file further back in the timeline.

    Finder Window: It looks to me like this is a MainStage or Recent OS thing to stay on top. I use CMD TAB to shift through windows. ( I have the finder windows open in BG at top left) Then, with the Finder on top, as I drag a the samples toward the sampler -wait/hold for about a second - the windows shift and I can drag to the sampler. *I'm pretty sure this is all customizable within OSX/Finder view options but at a glance, I don't see it. Hope this helps!

    Does it have to be triggered by a key or can I trigger the sample from a pad? My controller is the Arturia 88 mk 2.

    • @CatherallAudio
      @CatherallAudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is possible to trigger from a pad. You can add drum pads to your workspace from the layout mode and see what MIDI notes they're triggering and drop the samples on those MID notes in the mapping pane of the interface.

    Does anybody know if you can load quick sampler from logic into MainStage sampler

    • @CatherallAudio
      @CatherallAudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you save the sampler as a preset from the top left drop-down menu then you can recall that inside of the mainstage sampler.

    My sampler is not playing when I click the key (with mouse) trigger/hear the sound when I upload. Is there a setting that I have to change in order to do this?

    • @CatherallAudio
      @CatherallAudio  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You may need to check that the sample is set to 1-shot. You could also double check that you placed the samples on the intended octave that you wanted to trigger.

    Thanks so much for putting this out there!! Super helpful!! 1 question - I've loaded a long (30 second) sample with one shot. Is there a way for me to stop the sample midway if need be? Thanks in advance!!

    I know this is old, but if you drag the file over the MainStage window and hold it there for a second, the sampler will pop back up and you can drop it where you'd like.

    Can you tell me how to stop a looped sample? I am using the "AU Sampler" and can't figure out other than muting the channel strip, how to stop a looped sample. Thanks in advance for the help!

    Maybe I am missing something obvious, but it's just not working. It appears that I am loading wav files successfully into the mapping window, and the yellow column is assigned to a key, but when I try to trigger it, I get no sound. I am using a malletstation, so maybe it doesn't work the same as a keyboard synth. But, if I switch to another patch like glockenspiel or marimba, it works fine. When I go back to this one, no sound. It does keep saying "metronome," at the top instead of "instrument." I keep thinking maybe that's the problem, but I don't know how to change that. Any suggestions?

    • @CatherallAudio
      @CatherallAudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its possible that you loaded the sampler on the metronome channel strip?
      You should also check if you have the samples set as "one-shot" or not. If its not set as a "one-shot" then that could cause the problem you're experiencing.

    • @christopherdockulp
      @christopherdockulp หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CatherallAudio Thank you! I was adding an untitled patch, which didn’t have an instrument assigned. I had to add new patch with channel strip. I don’t know if that detail was mentioned, but I missed it. Problem solved!

    Is there a feature that stops the sampler from playing a longer sample twice if it has already been triggered? This is just in case of a live situation where I want to avoid it being triggered twice if I accidentally hit the same note twice. I hope my question makes sense, thanks for the vid.

    • @CatherallAudio
      @CatherallAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      The sampler itself doesn't have any built in functionality to prevent that. Its definitely a scary problem that can come up.
      There is a workaround. It takes some setup so it may or may not be worth it depending on the severity and how common this problem is. If you look up 441k on gumroad.com they have a plugin called "Note Gate" that will only allow a specific note to be triggered once on a patch and then it won't trigger again until you change patches.

    Can you load SF2 files into MainStage and use them?

    • @CatherallAudio

      You can use sforzando inside of MainStage as a plug-in for your SF2 files.

    So… now that I put my sampler together… the keys don’t trigger any sound. Even though I see the audio files in the mapping area. What is the final step to actually hear the sounds upon triggering??

    • @CatherallAudio
      @CatherallAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Once the samples are loaded into the sampler you should be able to immediately trigger them and hear the playback. There are a couple troubleshooting steps you can go through to check.
      - If you look at the mapping pane on the sampler window, when you press a key you should see that note light up to ensure that you're triggering the correct note that the sample is mapped to
      - Check the speaker icon in the top right of edit mode to ensure the concert isn't muted
      - Check that the sampler channel strip isn't muted

    Can you load the samples on the drum pads?

    • @CatherallAudio
      @CatherallAudio  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, if your MIDI controller has drum pads the signal will often be sent as "regular" MIDI notes. I suggest bringing in drum pads in layout mode and then assign them to the drum pads on your MIDI controller. Then find out what notes they are and drop the samples on those specific notes.
