@@ianjardine7324 I just feel being that old, teachers, surely it would have come up at some point, even if they don't partake it's a pretty common word, I don't smoke, drink, do drugs but I know the basic terms/names, I just find it hard to believe they didn't know what it meant, even by context.

9 x 25 = 225. Add 100 = 325. 7 x 10 = 70, add it to 325 to get 395, the subtract 8 from that = 387. (Probably the only time I'll ever figure out one of these...) lol

Would have loved to see Johnathon get recruit . Rachael is pretty amazing , there are a lot more rounds in the afternoon show and it's rare or impossible for her to fail in 30 secs . You might be more familiar with ' joint' than ' spliff ' for Sean's mascot .

I just don't know how Rachel Riley works out these math problems. It is pretty amazing. who the hell knows what 43 * 9 is
9 * 40 = 360
9 * 3 = 27
360 + 27 = 387
Simple and quick when you break it down.
Just do 4.3 x 9. And then add the zero. Makes is easier.
@TheRedPeril I wish I had you as a maths teacher only got to grips with maths working as a barmaid. Now tills do it for you.

Now I've watched it....she didn't multiply, she divided. 3+8+7=18 Because 18 is divisible by 9 she knew 387 would be too.
I looked up "Germs and Gents", supposedly it comes from Milton Berle, who coined "Ladies and Germs" ...somehow it developed and was turned around.

I didn’t know what a spliff was either, but I instantly understood the joke just by watching what he was doing and his reference to it being an E-spliff. You constantly remind people that you are teachers and then never fail to prove how stupid you are, the poor children.
The phrase is ladies and germs. There is no phrase germs and gents. And a spliff is a joint so the e-spliff is like a vape or e-cigarette.
25 X 9 (225) + 100 (325) then add 7 x 10 (70) gives 395 and subtract the 8 for 387
You used all the numbers. Very nice. I took the easy route with:
25 + 8 + 10 = 43
43 x 9 = 387.
Looking at it a day late but with the numbers: as 387 can be divided by 9 to make 43, I just added 25 + 10 + 8.
So you say (25 + 10 + 8) x 9.
I probably took over 30 seconds though, and Rachel fills a dress ever so slightly better than this thin, baldy, 65 year old Irishman, so I'll eschew the adulation for this one. 🙃
