Speaking of Otto Hightower, "How does he push this (getting the king to consider marrying his daughter) without being obvious?" He just did it. His comment about missing his own wife, the king having to marry for duty, and not envying the king having to choose to possibly marry a 12 year old girl to ensure an alliance, it's all subtle manipulation to get what Otto wants in the end, he's an amazing political player, Daemon is 100% right about him.
Feel like Otto hghtower is the single main villain in this show... not sure how he even became the kings hand but he started by creating a rift between daemon and the king and once he was gone he started to plot and gain more power for himself...
Yes, he made sure his daughter would be choosen in that scene, reacting to viserys choice as too much and having his daughter present a less than extreme option, I remember some youtube video analysing how trumpe used that, pushing his ideas to an extreme, so when he dialed it back it seemed better, Otto is the hand and he has the king on it
And then it's mirrored in Alicent's scene as well. She's good and kind and enjoys his company.

@@shadejackson1133 Otto became Jaehaerys' Hand in his later years when Jaehaerys was going senile. The King at that point was pretty much unable to rule, so Otto was basically ruling in his stead. Alicent actually attended the king in those years, acting basically like a nurse (she's older in the book). Viserys inherited Otto as Hand when he became king.
Daemon didn’t necessarily take his dragon as much as he brought it with him because it’s his.
Exactly you can’t take something if it belongs to you dragons are imprinted on the rider so you can’t just take a random dragon
I find it funny daemon threw a tantrum like a child just for visery's attention and he didn't even show up. Also him chucking the egg was hilarious.

He went with the intention of coming back unsuccessful in order to get Viserys to call for Daemon's death, or at least arrest

He went with the most powerful weapon he had: his words. Never in my life I've seen someone in the weaker side of a deal spit so much fire like Hightower lmao guess Daemons dragon came in thinking someone was getting toasted by a dragon. The man had nothing on his sleeve and still had more confidence than half of Westeros by the end of GoT

@@michaelhenry3234 Yeah I know. Still the level of sheer confidence when he is talking is fire. He is not only a schemer like Littlefinger, he is an absolute politician and master of oratory. Capable of delivering a speech and persuade anyone that he is in full control of the situation, or even speaking softly in private and basically gaslighting the king to marry his daughter. At no point Hightower mentions the idea directly, but he knows how to subtly make the king reach that conclusion and think he made that choice by himself. Just brilliant writing in those dialogues.
The little back and forth between Daemon and Criston was interesting. Daemon seemed to genuinely enjoy when Criston clapped back at him, I think he respected it.

Oh, the size of the dragons depends on how old they are, in the books, by the time Daenerys leaves Meereen, Drogon is barely big enough to ride. Caraxes is older than Syrax (Rhaenrya’s dragon). Each of the dragons will be the colors that GRRM assigned them in the books and in the behind the scenes, the showrunners mentioned that they gave the dragons different features and sounds to help tell them apart and flesh them out. Caraxes is actually deformed but looks wicked as hell, his nickname is the Bloodworm.

The bridge at Dragonstone is a real place. A now tourist attraction since Game of Thrones. Daemon didn't "take" Ceraxes. He's his dragon.
That red dragon is Caraxes, he is Daemon’s dragon. One dragon per rider, once they bond with a rider, that’s it, well until the rider’s or dragon’s death, which ever comes first. Viserys was the last to rider Balerion the Black Dread, which did factor into naming him heir, he rode another dragon after Balerion’s death.
Daenerys, in the books, has rider Drogon, meaning that they have bonded. Rhaegal and Viserion will probably not answer other anymore. They may follow Drogon, but if they find riders to bond with, the bond with Daenerys will be completely severed.
I think what you mean is that Viserys never ride another dragon after Balerion's death
Rhaegal did have a rider well at least in the show, Jon Snow(Aegon Targaryen) claimed him in the beginning of season 8 when his “Auntie Gf” gave him permission to ride him. He also fought only one battle with him against undead Viserion. Sad part is shortly after Viserion death Jon didn’t seem to care even if he only knew him for about a week or 2.
This episode had no deaths and no real fighting, but was still an amazing episode. Great character building and awesome setups needed for good storytelling. Rhaenyra is such boss.

Seeing how Otto Hightower acts as Hand of the King makes me look back at GoT Season 1 and realize again just how I’ll-suited Ned Stark was to be Hand. Ned was too good of a person for the conniving schemes that Hands apparently do.
Which is what got him and Robert killed.
Little finger and Lysa fucked the Starks. They killed the old hand and manipulated Eddard to investigate his old Lord's death and uncover Cerseis secret. He was too good though instead of killing her and her kids he and his family paid.
I feel like Viserys is the Ned Stark of this show.

The issue with him only having Rhaenyra means they’re basically ASKING for someone to assassinate her. If she dies, the realm’s back in chaos. If the king has more kids, male
or female, that can be back-up heirs, it means people are less likely to try shit. Plus it means even once Rhaenyra’s queen, they have more heirs in case she doesn’t have kids or something happens to her kids.
Rhaenyra knew her uncle wouldn’t hurt her..he didn’t do it because he didn’t want to lol. He cares about his family. Also it’s back in the day lol that age was common to get married especially when you consider it being political.
I’m pretty sure Caraxes is just Daemon’s dragon. Like he grew up with him and he’s his rider so he just gets to keep him.
Caraxes was actually hatched during the days of Daemon's Uncle Aemon, who rode him until he died on Tarth, Daemon claimed the Blood Wyrm sometime afterwards.

2nd episode of the series and these characters aren’t just pulling my heartstrings they’re actually making me shed tears.
Like Rheanyra I also lost my mom far too soon, and while the pain has gotten easier to bear, like Viserys said it’s a pain that will *never* go away. This is the reason I loved Game Of Thrones, not only for the large scale battles or political machinations, but especially these genuine and beautiful moments of love, friendship and family.

When Viserys announced his wedding to Alicent the next day after the two of them spoke, Alicent was wearing the same dress as the previous night. She definitely slept with Viserys that night, and he announced the marriage out of guilt.
Well to be historically accurate she probably wears the dress several days in a row. But yeah we do see her dad basically tell her “go sleep with him” so that did happen anyway.

Works when thinking about it defensively, only four or five abreast can march along the causeway at a time, which makes it easier for a dragon to fly along and burn them all.
17:17. And she's called his bluff. Daemon loves his family too much to kill them, plus he doesn't want to be a kinslayer, as that'd bring the entire Seven Kingdoms down on him if it came to war, especially the North.

You guys seem to have forgotten we've been to that stairway at Dragonstone many times before. And it's not a bridge, it's sitting on a ridge of the mountain. And while it's a set and CGI here, each time it was in GoT it was on a real location in Spain, so it actually exists.

Tbh in all sense of the game everyone but those in Otto’s pocket supports Corlys’ match over Otto. It’s the perfect match of money power and bloodline with lots of “breeding years” to come. The only reason it was Otto’s win was because he had his daughter pull a Margery and sleep with him before the announcement. That and basically shoving her at him to build a relationship beforehand. By all means it’s a bad decision by the king that is would make the realm poorer and rife with conflict. You don’t piss off you’re mega rich master of ships when he’s the reason you’re economy is still working.

I feel like I know where shit is going. My guess is the battle lines for the inevitable civil war will be Rhaenyra, Daemon, Velaryons vs. Viserys male heir, Alicent, Otto etc. Obviously, they'll each have their own allies and supporters but I feel like those are the principle players.
Well, give it some time, the teams will be filled up with more folks soon enough. Hate to say that the princes are all probably going to be a bit younger than in the books though, Daeron, Tessarion's rider, is probably only gonna be 13, if that.

Dragons can have more than one rider during *their* lifetime, just one rider as that one lives. Balerion himself had Aegon, Maegor, and Viserys as his riders, and many of the dragons during the Dance will eventually have new riders.

Princess Rhaenys' nickname "The Queen Who Never Was" was created out of respect for her (and as a slight dig toward the verdict of the Great Council). Rhaenys actually chose Corlys Velaryon, her husband, herself (he was quite a bit older than she was) when she was 16, secured the permission of her grandfather (King Jaehaerys) and married him, making a grand entrance to their wedding by flying in on her dragon Meleys (who is called "The Red Queen").

Right now the king is in between a rock and a hard place but honestly he put himself there. Wasting time and efforts and even your wife’s life in search of a son when you had a perfectly good heir sitting there all the time. Had he rewrote the law to where no one would question his daughter as heir And acknowledged her as a capable and possible leader for the rest of the realm before hand he wouldn’t be having to choose between wedding a 12-year-old or a 16-year-old. He could’ve rewritten the law but what he really should’ve done was a) build a better relationship with his brother b) get a concubine after his wife’s SEVERAL miscarriages or c) both. If he rewrote the law earlier it could’ve enticed his sisters supporters to war but he could’ve tweaked some laws here and there that gave women higher standing over the years to prep for the social change.
