I bought it earlier. Initial impressions of the 707: It looks great (the red is a bit bright, but I can live with it). It would have been nice to have rustier wheels, like the ATS patch did, but perhaps someone will do a wheel patch for this. The sounds are brilliant (as you'd expect). The feel is HUGELY different. It's no longer a rocket ship. It feels "heavy" in a good way. Functionality is great as usual. The only things I wish it had: A TMS, GSM-R, a way to see what destination you've set from within the cab. I'm not sure where a driver sees this on the real unit (is it part of the TMS?). Those are my only gripes. I've not tried the 700 or 717 yet
Alan thomson can ask you something? Where you got the scenario of the Ac Power scenario? Cause i just can play With dc power scenarios and i hava ecml south but i dont find any scenarios for the class 700 on ac power.
Great overview Alan definitely makes it worth buying the 700 in my view now

The pantograph light on a 700 will stay on when the train is in DC mode

My problem with this pack is its just not worth 15 quid. That combined with the original addon is 2 pounds more than the baseline price of the 185 but if you compare both of those products, just look at the amount of more functionality you guys managed with said 185s - there's barely any comparison. To me, the 15 pounds being asked would be justified with a working TMS/GSMR and maybe attempting a few other systems. If AP couldn't get resources together for those items then fine, but don't change so much money for it. As a paying customer of AP, I couldn't justify this one as I could with others. Same problem with all of the recent unit EPs
Unfortunately development prices only go up I would have liked the GSMR TMS but I still think it’s worth the price.
2 sound sets alone is £10 then add the physics livery’s scenarios etc I can see the value of it from my perspective.
The 185 was a bargain to be honest it should have cost more
@@AlanThomsonsim Yeahh ofc the extra development would be required but the 158c EP is a prime example of pack that justify a higher price tag. That pack didn't have a two page bits and bobs section but it had much better functionality, viability and wayyy more liveries. As an FYI from a customer's perspective, the more the prices go up, the less customers will justify it, leading to less sales, leading to further rises. I wouldn't have paid a penny more for the 185 even if I think its a great train
@@railquest Are you factoring inflation though? Prices of everything have gone up a lot recently. You can't expect prices to stay the same forever.
@@mdhazeldine yeahh I fully agree. Personally though, I still wouldn't say it stands. The 158 wasnt the best example cos of its age but I suppose the 387 pack had so many more liveries, TMS, GSMR so forth etc. for only 2 pounds more and thats quite recent

A complaint id like to give to AP, is that It needs to be faster on DC mode , in reality it is slower than AC, But its too slow in game, the acceleration is on par with a class 455 in game.
I believe this was updated on launch day if you redownload the pack it will update it

@@AlanThomsonsim one more thing I've noticed is that you can't close the door from the cab by clicking on the "door close button" obvs you can press "R" but yeah. In general though it's a good pack imo. Just a few" bits a bobs "here to fix. Let's see what the future holds.
@@AlanThomsonsim i tested them out, they get to 100mph in 3 and a half minutes now, major improvement. Whereas before it took about over two minutes to get to 50mph, they were very fast to change the speed. I'm now fulfilled :^)

I'm new to this game on pc....how does the third party content work? Is it free or paid?
There are some free third party stuff but mostly it will have requirements that’s are payware.
There is also a plethora of payware third party routes and trains this pack is a payware pack

I can’t say I have seen this issue so you know what coaches are missing?
@@AlanThomsonsim I can’t remember exactly, TSO-TSOW-TSOLW I think. it’s weird, they’re visible in the editor but when you reload the game they’re invisible. Seen a few folk online with the same issue. It’s exactly the same with the 707 and 717. Have contacted AP but not heard back.
Had you already unpacked the .AP zip for the DTG 700? The AP installer used to work fine either way (.AP file packed or unpacked) but since the 800 EP, it seems there are problems if you have already unpacked the .AP file (I always unpack these on any addon). I had the missing carriage (and same with the 800 EP). If you re-install the DTG700 from Steam, don't unpack the .AP, then run the 700 EP installer, you'll hopefully find your okay. (This is what fixed it for me).

If i buy the enhancement pack and i see that there is not the ETCS available in it, it is the worst enhancement pack ever made !
