  • Surrey RCMP have announced charges in a tragic sexual extortion case involving a 14-year-old boy. Police say the former student athlete took his own life after he was blackmailed by an online scammer in Nigeria. As Jon Hernandez reports, this is just one of a growing number of sextortion cases.

Absolutely disgusted by the inept and complete lack of cyber awareness by law enforcement in Canada. These crimes have gone on way too long.

Sadly, I have had Nigerian folks tell me they left because of the corruption and such. I can’t say “nothing” good comes out of Nigeria, but I definitely have my concerns, based on what some actual Nigerians have shared with me.

I think parents should be cool and say EVEN IF YOU ENDED UP IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS, TELL ME! YOU WON'T BE IN TROUBLE and mean it!

And parents should make there kids very aware to never send those pics to anyone....especially someone you have never met in person and trust. Even then things can go bad.

To make life less of a minefield for youth we should ENSURE safe housing, clean water, healthy food, quality education, and full health care for EVERYONE (including some forms of ethical sexual health care at the appropriate age), while planning future development to be in harmony with the Earth and with each other. So kids and adults could earn a living wage from a place where they feel safe and loved, working toward an ensured basic standard of living while achieving self actualization in the process. Our commodified survival warps the hell out of humanity.

This reminds me of Mar2022 where a 17 year old guy named Jordan Demay in Michigan(if I remember correctly) was blackmailed by 3 Nigerian brothers $10,000 after making a fake insta account named Dani Roberts and flirted with Jordan by asking for his nude photo. Jordan later commit suicide because the trios threatened to send his images, texts to his friends, family and school. Later on, fbi tracked the bros, were arrested and sentenced to prison 30-35 years.
