I came across this bridge exactly 20 years ago while passing through the area. For 20 years I've wondered what it was used for. I can get some sleep now because now I know. Thanks! 🤣
My dad and my grandpa both worked on the J.K. Roebling bridge. My grandfather's name was Jack Koors anyway I remember stories when I was a kid about a set of stairs inside of that bridge that led down into the original cofferdam and supposedly my dad found a book down there that J.K Roebling himself left, i dont know if it's that true or not. My aunt Jackie, who recently passed away a few months ago has some of the old lights off the bridge, they are about 2 to 3 ft tall she had 1 red 1 blue 1 and 1 white...anyways there is tons of good history around here. Seems like americans have forgot the first shot that rang out fired by a british soldier killed a colonist, and he was a black man! His name was Crispus Attucks and he is quite possibly the first American that died to make this country free country seperate from british rule! 🇺🇸
Great video but i got spooked at the title...my house is literally right there next to the golf course..if they make that a pedestrian bridge that would be fantastic shortcut on a bike to newport shopping center....you should go up to the garden of hope and do a video, its beautiful up there. 🇺🇸 idk tho after i thought about it a min the first 2 things you reach on the other side of the Licking River across from this golf course is a strip club called the playpen and a bar called Bobby Mackey's with a supposed portal to hell in the basement, so maybe that's not such a good idea after all. 🇺🇸
@@historyinyourownbackyard2363 its a place up on a hill in Covington at the end of w.16th st, you can google directions...its where they used to hold church service when the town was first established it's beautiful and there is a replica of Jesus's tomb up there it used to be fixed up a long time ago as a matter of fact my dad married my stepmom up there anyway there's some really good stories about when they first built it it kept sliding down the hill but they prayed and prayed and God sent an angel that showed them how to build it to where it wouldn't fall down the hill every time it rained I have a book somewhere about angels and the story is in the book of the garden of hope angel. They say that this Carpenter / Builder showed up out of nowhere help them build it and then disappeared.
