I tend toward over doing as well. Like you I get lost in the details and I think I need to, as you said, have a vision of what I want the project to end up as and what I want included. I have learned quite a bit from mistakes or I should say that I recognize that there is a mistake as I hadn’t intended the drawing to look like it did. I suppose I could research and find out how to not do it the same next time. Hahaha, what a great idea. I just want to say that I like these talks you give. They are encouraging without making me feel like I’m the only one missing a day drawing when I’ve promised myself I was going to draw daily. Thanks, I think you’re a very good teacher.
Fun video & thanks for taking us through your thought process as well as your sketch. This has been a fabulous class so far. I have been waiting since you started Sketchbook Skool for Nina to make an appearance and she did not disappoint! I have followed her for years and am a huge fan of her work. Thanks for all you guys do!
Hahahahah!! A magnet for weirdos!!! It might be worth it to do a little research about the history of the building. Great sketch, in any case. I really like how you're able to critique your own sketch, without actually caving to your inner critic!

Thanks for this! Very inspiring and makes me want to do some urban sketching! Love your honesty and just the way you express yourself in general.
Graham, I really enjoyed your verbal diary of your sketching time and your verbal critique and self analysis. I found it honest and open. Thank you.
Graham?
Haha. I meant Danny. I'm rubbish with names. And btw when I saw it had a reply from you I was SO excited. 😋
Heh heh. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I try not to beat myself up but I am always looking for ways to improve.
I really like the result. I love the green of the building with the lighter green of the tree. it is a great piece.

Holy cow! The metalwork around the building is made with thousands of keys!! Fascinating video and discussion. Nicely drawn sketch, too ;-)
Thanks! ;)
brightpurpleviking I just noticed they are all keys, too - WOW!
Hey, I thought this was a great urban sketch! Would love it if you did a few more of New York buildings! And those fire truck sounds outside, cool...!
Really lovely artwork

I too get overly ambitious. It is so good to know that even you do this.
Did you check Sagar`s work? It's great!
Nice!
No, you are!
