A roof sealant with the word "turbo" in sounds like a marketing gimmick.
Doubtful the manufacturer is making a product that others are not for much less money.
$200+ for a gallon of roof sealant sounds like a ripoff to me.

There are those too, doubting everything, even when the evidence presents itself

removing the burrs is also very important. The burrs start to rust and accelerate the corrosion on the sheet

I've got an old garage that the builders used nails to secure the metal roof. I believe the washers rusted out so now there's water leaking in the garage. Would you recommend replacing all the nails with screws and then using the sealer or just go straight for the sealer?

Replace the screw, the reason why is because since that screw was already been compromised most likely water already got in, thus the possibility of rusting is there. You dont want to seal something that has corrosion it will only get worst.

I thought to myself “finally he’s fixing something correctly” then out came the turbo seal 😂

Well, that is my go-to product. I wish I knew about Turbo Poly Seal many years ago. My motto was always that I can fix any roof, no need for replacement. So my business was based on repairs. I did not have the knowledge of other products. If I only knew. I could have made some money with all the repairs. Most roofers just want to replace, and not repair.

@smudger304 do tell, for this newbie, what's considered "correct" approach

@@mknoyce 1) never wire-wheel the paint coating off of a roofing panel. 2) if you scratch the panel while removing an old screw, repair it correctly by cleaning, prime coat, finish coat. 3) never smear mastic over a roof screw. What's shown in this video is the wrong way to replace metal roof panel screws. Do it right the first time.

I find it interesting a number of flat roofs shown in your videos are secured with screws in the pans.
The rain water flows along these pans and anywhere you pierce the pan with a screw has the potential to eventually leak. In Australia our roofing systems use a concealed bracket secured to each roof batten usually at 900mm spacing. The bracket clips over the edge of the roof sheet at the side lap and is secured with screws into the metal or timber batten. The next roof sheet is then pressed down onto the same bracket and is snapped / locked securely in place.
This process is continued along the entire roof. It’s very fast system and the pans remain free of any screws.
    Thanks for the video.

from what your explaining it sounds like a standing seem roof this is just a metal roof or something like kingspan roof.

    Takes more mat. and time,But,
    ,predrill screws 1/2"+ -
,with caulk gun insert nozzle ,squeeze trigger lol, now set washer screw,
Now the joist is sealed and waterproofed at joist screw threads and joist to roofing
Increasing screw size is useless if the original screw hole is water rotted.
seal all exterior screw holes before final torque down .
Our 40' x 100' barn roofing is 20yrs old, Not a single screw has failed ,we used 5200 marine caulk,Sika flex marine caulking is long life quality, also .

After applying Turbo Poly Seal, in the event that the screws need to be removed, can you simply remove them or do you need to wire wheel them first?

    • @textowle9118
      @textowle9118 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      wire wheeling on metal roofing
      Bad Idea.
Nut driver will grab head when pressure applied
      Keep it simple,
      Build for tomorrow,not today .
