- On this adventure, we're heading down to the south shore to a town called Middleboro where we meet Bob Florio from Adams Refinishing, a truck painter for over 40 years. There, we discuss plans for my new truck with owner Anthony Carrillo, check it out!
My wife's grandparents started that shop. Top notch😎
That's really cool!
A.C. seems like a man of his word and a damn solid set of gentlemen to work for. You are a lucky man Mike, to have people that value and reward your work ethic and commitment to the company is almost a thing of the past.
I'm very lucky to work with such a great family!
That whole family seems like a stand-up crew. Love the attitude and equipment.
That is a unique job you have Mike like myself you came from freight and you know how crappy those big freight carriers are you would never get the opportunity to help spec out a new Semi Tractor that is so rare Cum Loudi !!
Who ever is going to get your truck your driving now is going to be almost as lucky as you in getting the new one. In going through the process with you from the time you set down and ordered your new truck to the tour of the factory to getting it in and now seeing the process in getting the custom painting done to match the classic Cardillo paint scheme. Which I really like a lot because it is old school at it's finest. My opinion when trucks had character. Hopefully you will take us along to see the custom pin stripping done as well. Mike you are one lucky guy to have a company that has not only recognized how great of an employee you are but to present you with a brand new truck as well. Most companies in my opinion could care less. Have you ever heard of a company that was out of Eddystone, Pa. named Robbins? The owner was just like your companies owner and would go out of his way to make the driver super happy with his truck like you boss does. My brother drove for Robbins for many years (mid 70's through mid 90's) when I was very young he started with them and I would go out with him all the time. Robbins had the blue and white 1979, 359 Peterbilt that was in Smokey and the Bandit part 2 in the draw bridge scene. Which was my brothers truck at the time before they bought him a brand new W900 which was Robbins green and gold strips. There company colors. Sorry about the book I just wrote but can't wait to see the next step in the new truck process. Congratulations again on the beautiful new KW.
Wow Chris this meant a lot to me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on my process. I don't remember Robbins but I do remember Joe Klecko in your brother's big ride!
Im from Pa. Aswell I remember that old blue Peterbilt with the white stripes Robbin,s transport saw it many of times in eddystone Pa. Marcus Hook also going down 495 in Delaware! every where I saw it. I drove for Apple House Trucking out of Scranton Pa. They had the nicest truck,s on the road at one time. The owner was a old school truck driver and he would often run one of his trucks down to Fla. And back up to the northeast. A well known man throughout the country he could really order a nice KW to his liking,s! Then he would have his own garage put his Patented paint scheme, put on it! Sadly he passed away a few years ago and the company no longer exists.
Painters and tradesman that have experience and been in business a long time are hard to come by!
I know you're right!
My dad told me when I was younger that the swan on the hood mean you finally paid the truck off and fully own it
He's right.
I drive past that place every day. I saw it sitting out front, that is a beautiful truck!!
Thanks Greg
Nice new beautiful rig Man you've earned it ain't too many genuine cats around like you anymore
I appreciate that Larry thank you
YW
As a long time subscriber I got to say that Mike has come along way in a good way 😊😊😊😊

HE SAID TWO TRUCKS, I would love to see another video of you guys going thru the specs again when that time comes
I'll make as many videos as I can.
The old truck is still a beauty!
Sure is!
You're lucky to get a new truck good for you. I wouldn't worry about moving the tanks two inches forward
Thank you
Love the White buttons ! Old school cool !!!
Thank you for understanding that. 😁
A lot of good looking Pete's!
Hello my favorite old school singing trucker! You certainly know good looking Peterbilts!
Badass I can’t wait to see you trucking brother
You and me both!
I can't wait to see it completely done! It's going to look great hope to see it around the Groton area working when i take a trip back home !
Hope you enjoy it!
The interior looks awesome Mike
Mike i was thinking the same thing as you and anthony i was like thats a french truck and thats a ryco you must be over the moon excited for your truck because just watching im so excited i cant wait to see the finished product so happy for you buddy
Thanks Nick I'm happy for your support!
Kinda excited to see how this new truck turns out. Best of luck Mike.
Me too!
Mike now the real fun begins LOL
Oh yeah buddy!💯
The new seats are more forward. We have been getting the base plate to move back even just a few inches
Good to know thanks, I was thinking they're just not broken in yet.
Is the seat against the wall already? Some seats you have bolts on the tracks you can move the seat back
Everyone has their opinions and it is what it is…but if that’s what YOU like…then that’s what matters! Believe me there’s WAAAYYY worse trucks out there as far as looks or mechanics goes….very nice truck Mike….can’t wait to see it finished and on the payroll!
This is very true!👍💯
Great video Mike. New truck looks good now it's going be awesome when finished !!
Thanks Pete for your support! Nice to talk with you this week, enjoy your home time and say hello to the misses.
@@TheBostonTrucker 👍
Mike a lot of the comments are saying how lucky you are. You are blessed you are not going to beat that old school Italian upbringing there is nothing that compares I miss it you picked the rite people to put your loyalty and ethics to work for. Give your Father and Mother a big hug they did a good job. can't wait to see the truck the only thing I am not liking is paint on the tanks 👍😎👍
Still need to decide on the quarter fenders. Brunt! Dane Scott owes Anthony a cup of coffee! Anthony is a big kid! Start it up in the guy's shop! You can tell he's completely into trucks and has great pride in his trucks. Did he say "" Trucks""!?!
“He’s got a goose on his thing too” 😂
🤣🤣🤣
I like driving in the Cold when you got a good heater 😅
Bob is the real deal!
Sure is 💯
That is a very nice Pete Roger 😊
17:51 well that truck has a free flowing exhaust. Listen to that turbo!!
😂😂😂 I like how you said you were going to bust Anthony’s balls about being late.
Then he says “ohh you’ll quit again?”
Hilarious
PS- I definitely agree about moving the tanks forward. Now is the time.
He's funny! I don't know what I was thinking. 🤦
I look at your boss mike and all I can see is a young Tony great guys both of them
That's a good thing!
Those stickers are there for you read Mike your the operator you must execute those procedures with dudilligence expedentually
I hate reading!🤷
Great video, love watching customization of trucks!
Glad you enjoyed!
Love it
Thank you
Hai, was een interessante vlog mooi te zien wat de spuiterij allemaal kan doen, hoop dat jou truck helemaal naar jou wenswordt gespoten heb ervan genoten bedankt en tot de volgende vlog gr carel uit Nederland
@thebostontrucker you guys need to do a diecast run of the new truck and trailer, I think they would sell!
Love it 👍💯
Awesome video, Mike.....hey, your "thank you" light button is on the end of turn signal lever.....blinks lights whether they are on or off......also, push lever down to flash your headlights, when headlights are off.....it won't flash the high beams like a car will but will just turn them off/on for a sec.....you'll see what I'm talking about once ya start messing around with it 👍🏻👍🏻.... excited for you 👍🏻👍🏻....oh yea, get ya some window chops on your side windows since visors are gone.....id paint the backside of visor also....just a thought
Oh okay, yes mine now has the thank you lights on the indicator as well.
I like those backlight on the supreme fuel truck that’s cool that they switch colors
Yeah really cool lights
Dual revs lites are what they're called
Legendary black fenders would pretty cool!
True it would
😂😂😂😂23:07 Anthony definitely didn't want to get into the conversation about the dummy stacks. Quick change of subject back to painting the truck 😂.
That's just how he is, we're a lot alike.
@@TheBostonTruckeryou could always get it hooked up. Wouldn't take much just some flex pipe and a y joint more or less.
PS also ignore negative comments from anyone saying oh I don't like this or that cause at the end of the day it's your truck and the way you like it. They can do what they want to there's. Everyone has different tastes. Looks like a beautiful truck Mike congrats 👏
Mike you might want to consider window chops for your doors being as you have no sun visor it will keep the morning sun out of your eyes. You can get chrome or have them painted they look pretty cool. Personally i would leave the DEF tank chrome but im all about the chrome myself. The truck looks awesome be glad to see the finished product 👍👍👍
I don’t like window chops. I would leave DEF cover chrome, tank’s black, ends polished ,to match the front fenders.
I'm not a chops fan, probably tint them and I'm leaving the DEF tank as is.
It'll look good when it's done.
Fine lookin Truck there Mike . just thinking of the Kenworth legendary crushed glass . Would look good in lettering and pinstripe ,would have a different look than flake . 77 here today AZ desert .our 3 days of freezing nites are over till next winter . U are lucky to have owners that care about excellence . I could tell U about bad employer some other time .have a good one .
Thank you so much, enjoy that warm weather! I've never worked for someone id consider a bad boss but I've a few bad coworkers over the years
Mike got to get that other stack working nice truck
Why though?
@@TheBostonTrucker got to have it come on now
When I was in high school, shout out to Shawsheen Vocational Technical High School in Billerica Massachusetts. My trade was autobody. I believe Rose went to the tech also. But in a good quality paint job, isn't the paint. Its what's under the paint that matters. A good custom hot rod,or truck might have thousands of man hours in body work. But the paint itself might take an hour.plus buffing to a mirror finish takes time.
You make a very good point!
Nice looking truck Mike. Are you painting the tanks for less maintenance? I had black tanks on my Superliner and always wanted polished aluminum..Bob is a man of many talents. Painting those big trucks is a ton of work. The local paint shop painted my Mack, I did the body work and prep, under there supervision! Lol Your hood ornament should be a chrome go pro…thanks.
Less maintenance possibly, I've never minded polishing but I'm feeling my body is telling me things about my future already.
@@TheBostonTrucker I can relate to that! Wait till you get to my age, 63. I hand wax everything, pickup, cars, even my lawn tractors..lol Tough work getting old!
Hey Mike ! Surprised you never heard of the legendary paint colors. I've seen them on "The Kenworth Guy", which is a very informative channel and Andy uses a lot of Shift products on the Kenworths he sells. I've also seen a lot of legendary colors on the Peterbilts on "SEMI Casual" which is another good source of custom goodies. I'm sure you've seen Bill Rethwisch's 389 called "Legendary" at all the big truck shows. Legendary black and red with tanker to match. That was quite the build.
I'm sure somebody must make some cab panels for the back of the cab. Have you considered putting a nice headache rack on there ? Can't wait to see the finished product , I'm sure it will look great !!! 👍🏾
I watch Kenworth Guy sometimes and fun fact, I worked with Bill Rethwisch before he owned any trucks, great guy!
Just a thought maybe some mudflaps somewhere in front of the tanks to protect the paint on the ends if you decide to paint them and pinstripe
There will be mud flaps just not sure where yet but it's a good tip. Thanks
The ryco truck in the back round. 🔥
Except it's not Ryco but my next video will be from Ryco.
@@TheBostonTrucker wow I definitely thought it was. French has incredible fleet of equipment. I’m local 4. I’d love to get in with them.
I really liked the red bumper on the French truck.
That truck is sweet Mike and your bosses are VERY cool to let you make it even sweeter. I think you’re gonna eventually miss the sun visors though. Also it kinda sucks that KW has finally given up on the dual exhaust even on the W9’s…we’ve had a fake stack on a lot of the other models but not the W9…
I'm definitely going to miss them! I already do just thinking about it!🤦🤣
The aero cab W900L is the only one with 2 real stacks, as far as I know. Everything else, including the flat glass W9L, has a fake stack.
@@TheBostonTrucker Belmor makes a nice "chop top" style vent visor that helps block some of the sun from the sides, and makes it so you can crack the window in the rain. They have a smoked version so you can still see unlike the stainless ones that a lot of guys have. Also that 4th switch on the dash is for the trailer clearance lights.
Sweet Ride !! You talked about carpet for truck shows. How about VCT so it's easier to keep clean. The wood steering wheel is classic, not as classic as bakelite but add a touch of class. It's not mine so it don't matter. You make it nice for you in your office Mike.
I never heard of them but I'll look them up. Thanks
I personally like the interior. I see your vision with the hood. Can’t wait to see it done! So, with three new trucks is yours being being sold now?
I'm really happy to hear that. Yes, mine will be sold. Maybe.
It cost extra but next time you order a truck, ask to do a frame layout, better chance of getting your tank and brackets spaces more to your liking
I was given schematics in an email that I approved but in my head it looked different, it'll be all good when done.
@TheBostonTrucker either way it's a great looking truck
Not into the dummy stack. But I'm a one stack guy. I keep them cut short too, too many jobs where I have to get under low stuff
👍👍
I wish you would reconsider painting your tanks . I think they would look much better polished
What's weird is I've never been a big fan of painted tanks! I've bumped my head a bunch of times lately when on the lowboy and maybe that has to do with my decision to go that route. It'll look good when it's all done, you'll see. Or it'll look like a circus freak! 🤷
I like polished, but it is a lot of work when you get older. The last one I spec’d was black with polished ends. That would look good with the black front fenders
I’m sure it will look fine you’re truck always does
Be cool to see shtube do all your accessories
I'd love that, I don't think my bosses would go for that but I'll definitely be running it by them.
Your like a kid in a candy store. I have to admit I’m pretty jealous.
I'm a kid at heart, I can't believe anyone listens to me. 😁
NEW volvo vnl 860 ~~ wow~~🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
🤣🤣🤣
Center of tank red straps and ends polished
👍👍
I think it's about $800 but it allows you to place cross members where you want them , within reason because the engineering department at paccar will approve certain placement, but I can help tighten up tank spacing etc etc
I never heard of this, im intrigued but we're gonna leave it.
How did I miss the Boston Trucker coming down to where I live? Lol I’ll have to keep an eye out for the rig
Next video from Ryco 💯
Can’t wait!!! It’s a truck show every morning when they roll out see them every morning
Semi casual makes a def tank that is hidden under the hood, it’s a smaller tank but it looks better because you can’t see the tank.
I see that! Thanks
A lot of different companies make the hidden def tanks in different sizes.
Blinky light button is on the end of your signal arm (stick) left side of steering wheel
have bob paint inside stacks black .. (i'll bet youd be the only one) lol good luck ! better stock up on turbo and black smoke footage now! but new is new gotta move forward ! good work mike. and skinny jeans too!
I mentioned that to him off camera, he didn't like that idea, said it's the first thing that'll get the DOT's attention but I'll prob do it anyways. 😁👍
bob knows his s$#t something you only get by putting the hours in!! good luck on your venture! tell anthony stock up on the hoodies.
Oh Mike! You are looking like my kids in the candy store! It’s just soooo hard to make a decision! Lol
It's very hard, do I go with the peanut butter cups or the Kit Kat?
@@TheBostonTruckerThats an easy one! Both! Lol
Could you have had a slightly longer cab? This one seems so tight. In case I missed it, what brand engine and hp did you go with? What size rear drive?
What is the average life span for your truck?
I grew up in Middleboro, Adams always has nice trucks there
Hi Tom 👋
@@TheBostonTrucker hey Mike. I love the flat glass on your new truck. I think when i was a kid Adams used to do bulk hauling and they restored the fleet.
Why the dummy stack? Going with exhaust underneath instead of stacks? Is that legendary paint like Imron? ""Sparkles"" in the light. That empty space on the dash needs a pyrometer . AKA exhaust temperature. Very cool and old school. If you can get one.
The fuel tank's really stand out against the red frame. If it were me I wouldn't paint them !
Thank you
Great to have a boss that wants to accessorize more than the driver. Are the bottoms on the upholstery bigger on the new truck.
He's the guy who buys all the chrome that he can put on the truck!
You could add window chops to help with the lack of a sunvisor
We'll see, might tint.
Truck is gonna look awesome Mike! Where can I get one of those Cardillo Hoodies that AC has? Do you guys sell them?
Thank you! They don't sell merch but hopefully someday soon. Get a job here and get all the hoodies you want to wear! 💯
Definitely do the legendary paint that's what mine is
Not this time.
Tell Anthony to order an 18 speed Kenworth , I’ll come drive for him ! And that Pete is sweet ! Highway princesses…. Haha them fuel haulers are going to be on you now lols 😎🍺♥️
This will probably the last manual he ever buys
@@TheBostonTrucker …..😢🍺😎
Red is good, it wards off the evil eye
Hahaha
I love the truck but I think painting the tanks your going to regret it
Your old truck looks so nice because of all the polished aluminum and chrome I has
We shall see
Hi Mike! I'm super curious but don't want to cross the personal line regarding financials. Do I have this right in thinking Anthony Cardillo has invested company money in you and the new truck including the customizations being done to it in exchange for your 6-7 day a week commitment and performance in terms of making his successful company money? Does he do that for all his driver's or just a select few dedicated and committed tenured driver's? No matter the case, Anthony seems to be a Blessing to the industry and a 1% of the 1% of terrific Bosses to work for. Love your work and love your youtube content! Thanks for doing what you do.
We didn't have trucks or bosses like that growing up in North Quincy in the 80's.
You're not crossing any lines and that's an interesting way of putting things. I'm committed and he knows it and trust me that I'll take care of his trucks because I have a track record so that's really all it is.
You don't need sun visors, that's what the big visor and window chops are for.
10-4 driver
Hey Mike how about black Rino bed liner coating on the ends of the tanks for durability.
But I want them shiny
U can put body panels on back of cab . Semi casual does that mike
I'm going to do that.
my fave is legendary black cherry 🔥
Oh copy that
I ordered a brand new KWOPPER W900L in 1993 one of the first truck,s off the assembly line in Washington State. with a Black lilac Pearl paint job, had to have the back of the cab repainted after 2 months the paint never dried correctly you could take your finger nail and scrape the paint right off it in many spots. Under warranty they repainted it the 2nd time came out great. One of the nicest paint color I've ever seen. Always driver's were asking me what color is that 👍🏼
Why on the current rig are the fender mounted turn signals side clearance lights facing the hood and not outwards?? Prefer the chrome over the light??
I'm pretty sure it was an oversight by a former mechanic who didn't know better and I didn't realize it until weeks later. 🤦🤷
Red is my least favourite color ever…. But this truck is gonna look great once it’s done. Love the ideas!
Right on! Thank you
I would change the passenger side fuel tank and move def tank behind fuel tank.
But that costs $$$$
To much money, it'll be fine.
One of the pitfalls of ordering a new truck and not checking specs after the engineers get done changing things . The salesman gets notified and has to sign off on changes and should have kept you in the loop .still a very nice truck.
They kept me in the loop, I saw the plans but I'm not an architect so maybe I saw them differently.
I think the truck scene must be completely different up there. I live in south jersey I don't ever see customized trucks. Up there everyone has a distinct look on their trucks and can be identified by color of red. Wish this culture was more prevalent here.
I'm surprised to hear that, I thought I remember seeing some nice rigs back when I worked out of Glassboro and Westampton but that was a long time ago.
Mike any news on if you current truck will be the next spare truck
Selling it.
I have all the chrome buttons in my daily driver
I can't wait to see what the 2 new trucks are, a tractor and a triaxle? Did Anthony have his skinny jeans on? Asking for a friend!
3 new tractors all Kenworths
Two more trucks? The plot thickens...
Yes sir, 3 new ones on total.
