    Thanks for doing notification. So much on TH-cam is now outdated, nice straightforward presentation. Looking forward to Actionable notifications.

    great stuff, i am just now diving into notifications on my install, got the basics but wasn't following the template syntax very well. excellent info.

    Awesome video! Would love to know when alarm sensor is tripped, it will announce the sensor name that was triggered. Basically because I have many sensors, I want to just create one automation that will pass though the entity that is tripped.

      I'm working on a New Home Assistant Burglar Alarm Video, this is one of my goals for that video.

    Has things changed as I can't find services or a call function in dev tools?

    Great overview. Given the mobile is a central part of a home automation system is it possible to create notifications that stay in the foreground until acknowledged? I'm just starting this out but a notification disappears after a few seconds and unless you're on the phone you miss it. If it's a critical notification that's no good.
    So hence the idea of having it stick in the foreground until acknowledged. Had a crack at sticky and persistent but without luck

      @HiveMindAutomation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll have to look into that, but I think the persistence limitations come from iOS not from Home Assistant.

    Call phone number using the companion app from inside ha and also end call. Also sip calling would be nice and then auto connect to the Google mini conference call

      I haven't looked into the Phone Call functionality within Home Assistant yet. I know it's a thing, and you can also add Text Message Functionality with the right integration to control your smart home via SMS.
      I'll look into the calling integrations.

    I've just started learning about Home Assistant and this video helped a bunch, thanks! Did the Actionable Notifications video not happen or am I blind and don't see it?

      I haven't gotten to Actionable notifications just yet. It's in the backlog.

    11:!5 is their a workaround for iphone to automaticly expand to fullscreen instead of keep pressing the notification?

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm still working on a video about "Actionable" notifications, cause I've not yet wrapped my head around them properly.
      Theoretically, there should be a way to have the notification take you straight to the camera feed instead of just launching the HA app.
      I'll hopefully have an answer soon.

    Nice overview. Hard to see anything you are doing on screen though, would be nice if you had a blog post or better (closer) view so we can see what you are typing. Also I am running the latest version of HASIO and the companion app but I do not have the same options as you under notifications, I only have Channels, History and rate limit? I am using Android, you know the better option..LOL. are the sounds only available on IOS maybe? For a future vid it would be nice to see you set up a morning brief, i.e. when you walk into the kitchen, bathroom whatever your voice assistant will automatically tell you the days weather, commute time. reminders. etc. but it would only execute once a day between the hours of X -Y and would be started by a motion sensor or presence device in that room for example. Thanks! Yes I am working on that and would love to see how you do it :)

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I thought of the Morning brief as I was shooting, so it'll probably be a thing coming soon. I'll figure out what I want in it and then build something out.
      Apologies for the screen size.
      I thought of it during the edit but never did anything with the thought. I need to sort out my capture settings properly.
      I'm pretty sure the sounds may only be available on iOS, which gives me cause to doubt your statement of Android being the better option. :P

      Oh and the blog posts are something I'm working on for 2023. My placeholder website is currently a static page in an AWS S3 Bucket but I've been building out a Wordpress thing since mid-December so when I'm ready I'll migrate across to that and the plan is to have an accompanying blog for each video.

    Great tutorial! When I wore my Apple watch it just played a generic notification sound not the *.caf I selected. Besides that, the notification works fine on the phone if I don't wear the watch. Please advise.

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you can't change the Notification sound on the Watch as far as I can tell, it's always going to be the generic sound, because the watch is getting the notification from the phone app

    For the US audience, translate "open/close brackets" at 6:38 to "open/close parenthesis" 🙂Not that I had trouble with this at all....

  • @AndrewGlasgow2020

    So what do I do when no test notification arrives? The companion app is working fine and I checked the name of the phone in the Companion app settings; notifications are enabled on the phone for HA ...

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I know nothing else about your setup, so I really have no idea.... There's way too many variables without more info.
      I'm assuming either your Home Assistant is available on the internet or your phone is on the same network?

    Thank you for this video! I'm really struggling to get any notifications to my Samsung Mobile I see it in HA but it does not seem to sync correctly as th battery is never the same and I get no notification to work on it, is there anything else I might need to check or fix for this mobile to be linked to HA thanks!

      I'm not an Android user so I really don't know how the Android App works.
      I'd probably start by resetting the app and then re-connecting it to home assistant to make sure the connection is "clean"
      There will almost always be a "Delay" in the entities updating from the phone to Home Assistant, but if you've got the HASS app open - even in the background - it should only be a few seconds difference.
      If you've reset the app previously or changed phones since you first set it up, it's also worth making sure you don't have stale "Devices" in your Home Assistant for an old device that might no longer be in use.

    How do you display The iphone app on the PC
    Bille

      I'm not sure I understand the question?
      I screen record on my iPhone and then overlay the recordings in my editing software.
      There's some 3rd party applications you can get for Windows if you want to use your PC as an AirPlay endpoint, and for macOS, modern macs can already be an Airplay receiver by default, but there's other applications like Reflector, or even QuickTime Player that can either use a tethered connection or an Airplay connection for recording and Demos.

      @@HiveMindAutomation it looks like you have a preview of the iOS app in the left side off the screen

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah, so I Screen record on the iPhone into a seperate file and handle the overlay in my editing software.

    in your doorbell example you use "Doorbell.caf" but the Home Assistant companion app doco says it needs to be a 32bit 48KHz .wav file. Where/how did you get the .caf file to work?

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The iOS System Sounds just work. I can only assume that they're just WAVs inside a .CAF container.

      @@HiveMindAutomation oh they're inbuilt system sounds, gotcha. i haven't actually gone through the full list yet, i'm having way too much fun with Text-to-speech with my Homepod Mini haha!
