Great video. I just replaced mine on my Samsung refrigerator. The part that was the most difficult was what some others ran into... removing the control panel. Here is what I did: Remove the philips head screw. Put on a pair of gloves. Put as many fingers that will fit into the chute where the ice comes out, in front of the water dispenser tube. Grip only the black plastic piece where the ridges are at and not the smooth round chute part. Pull out and slightly down and it should come out. It took a good steady pull with some force (hence the gloves) and not a jerk. Again, the key is to grab only the black plastic with the ridges where the ice comes out. No other tools were necessary other than a small screwdriver to lift the tab on the power quick connect. To replace the spring: Look at the hole on the left side of where the new plastic panel clicks into. There is kind of what looks like a numer nine shape in black plastic. Inside the square shape, above and slightly to the right of the large hole, there is a tiny rectangular hole. That is where the long spring end goes. Put the spring on the new panel first, aligning the small end of the spring in the slot in the panel (you'll see it) then angle the whole thing so that you can slip the long end of the spring into that tiny rectangular hole and then insert the peg from the panel into the big hole. Then push the other peg on the panel into the opposite hole. Gently prying the plastic helps, but I didn't need to. You might hear a snap. If you do it right, the spring will sit exactly where it needs to be and the panel spring back when pushed. Reattach the power quick connect and snap the control panel back into place. Replace the screw.
Simple and precise to the point of how to install the spring. Save me a lot of time trying install the spring. I didn't know there was a hole until I watch your video. For those that have a broken hinge tip, use super glue along with baking soda. It work really well and hold up very strong.
Its because of TH-camrs like you that I love TH-cam. There is a how to video for almost everything. I just replaced my Samsung fridge water lever thanks to your video. Thank you again.
Well done! Thank you! Had a handyman come out and he said he couldn't fix it (his company 'couldn't' source the lever). I ordered it on Amazon, then found your video. Did the temp fix while waiting for the part to arrive.
We just fixed our refrigerator by using your tutorial and we saved lots of $$! This tutorial is the best one I have ever seen and my husband and I didn't kill each other! You are the greatest instructor and gave us enough details to perform the task. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
This is by FAR the most comprehensive tutorial I found for this repair- thank you also for taking the extra step to answer in detail about taking off the panel. My ONLY regret was not hitting the 'show more' button and finding the white paddle that I needed until after I received a grey one I ordered. You have a new subscriber :) Thank you!
Thank you so much John, I ordered my part and you were great, wonderful detail. I was able to slow it up a bit for me and take some green shot snaps, because I would not be able to remember with all the interrupts in my home while trying to fix the level with all the small detail. Again, thank you so much!
This was great thanks to this i was able to fix my fridge. At first i broke the level trying to get it out. I bought the replacement and replaced but this did not work for me. Because of this video i pressed the button and water was coming out and after buying a second level thinking that the first one was defective i encounter the same problem thats when i realized that the problem was the switch Samsung 3405-001034 Switch-Micro after i changed and it work it fell so good. Thanks for your videos.
You are great! Your video was the one that most adequately walked us through the process. Thank you! Getting the spring in both the panel and the lever took finesse. We also had a time removing the panel from the door. One black tab inside cracked off but we were still able to tightly put it back in.
I guess you found the parts. I’m waiting on mine and just got installing the wire tie for a temporary fix. No one has said anything about unhooking the black hose that delivers the water to the glass in that area. Did you disconnect yours so you could get the entire panel on the county install the lever and spring?
@@jimmyyoung3534 the black hose fits into a little clip and comes out easily. I was able t do the repair on the counter top, totally remove from the fridge
👋As everyone says, this couldn't have been a better video on this very particular issue. Not only the full solution but a temporary Hack as well while you wait for the replacement parts‼ As others mentioned the panel was tricky mainly because it didn't seem to want to move and I didn't waat to break it but I just gave it a little persistence and a little wiggle and it just popped out eventually. Since it was tough I first tried to put the lever and spring in while the panel was in place but that was impossible, the panel has to be off to get eveything lined up and whatnot, and even then it took coordinated finesse. Will check you out first for all this stuff that happens!
Thank you for your detailed video. It was very helpful. The short-term fix is also a great idea. I will do that as well while I wait for the parts to arrive.
MANY of you are asking the same question. "More detail on pulling the unit out." - Here you go. FIRST, make sure to remove the single screw mentioned in the video (7:50). Second, and this is not mentioned in the video... gently push the water tube towards the back of the refrigerator until it pops out of the guide. This is not a crucial step. Even though I did not do this step, it did not break. However, I still think it's a good idea. Next, hold both your hands with palms facing you. Stick your pinky and ring fingers on each hand (4 in all) up into the circular area where the ice and water come from. Then place your thumbs on the refrigerator just to the left and right of the unit. This is where you get your leverage. Finally, give slow steady pressure focusing 1/2" up from the bottom. That is where the first tabs are located (1 on each side). Once you get those two popped out, continue pulling the bottom out as if it was hinged along the top. There is another tab on each side 1-1/4" from the top. The four side tabs are the main (i.e. Hardest to break free) holding tabs. It is definitely harder the first time the unit is removed. After that, you don't have to pull nearly as hard. There are three additional tabs along the top. (Glimpse at 12:28) 1 in the center and 1 on each side 1-1/2" in from the side. These don't appear to hold as tightly as the 4 tabs on the sides. Hope this helps! Maybe I need a separate video just on this step? Let me know in the comments.
Can you give a little more detail on how you pulled the unit out. Points of pressure for each hand and finger placement that worked for you. Are you pushing pulling any specific directions or in a specific sequence by hand or finger. Are you doing a twisting in any particular direction? Any details would help….
You sir get the prize. You convinced me to inspect my unit in order to provide the community more information. Check out my new comment pinned to the top of the comments.
Great video thank you for sharing. However just to add my experience here so that others don’t have to go through what I did. When my dispenser stopped working I researched online to see what it could be and everyone seemed to say it was the water inlet valve at the rear or a frozen pipe in the door (not likely in the newer fridges) going to the dispenser. After waiting 2 weeks for the inlet valve and after fitting it, it still didn’t work. I tried everything until I removed and emptied the water reservoir behind the salad crisper. When I reattached it I found the reservoir didn’t refill at all. So I checked that good pressure and water was going to the water inlet valve and it was fine. So I removed the clear/white pipe from the inlet valve at the rear that goes to the reservoir/tank and blew in to it but seemed like it was blocked. I then removed it from the reservoir/tank and pulled it out completely and blew into it. Nothing. It’s a 2 foot pipe and the air wouldn’t go through so I waited a few minutes as I thought it was frozen then suddenly it cleared. Voila! There you have it. Reattached everything, the pipe goes back in from inside the fridge easily, and the tank filled up and water and ice is now perfect. Just that 2 foot pipe! 😂
As others have indicated, it does take a good bit of force to get it out... especially the first time. Also, some have indicated that they broke a tab trying to get it out. However, there are six tabs and even with one broken, the unit was able to be replaced and it held in place. See comments from J.C. Poutsma
So I had the same problem you had ..all i bought was the lever..took it out did everything in the video I snapped it back in but now wen i press on the lever the lever stays pushed so water or ice will keep coming so I have to pull it back everytime now to make it stop..do u think I probably need to get a new spring? The old one looks fine doesn’t looks damage or anything ..wat you think??!
Double check to make sure you installed the spring properly... that would be my guess as to the cause. Other than that I would, obviously, try to figure out mechanically what's preventing it from returning to the proper position. Maybe try removing the spring and see if that helps you figure out if something else is blocking it. There really isn't anything other than the spring and the the two "pins" that slip into the holes on either side. Good luck.
How did you realize this was the problem? When i push my lever nothing happens, i suspect this is the same issue but want to be sure before taking it apart. Thanks
Very helpful video. Unfortunately it didnt work for me. My lever would not fit. I noticed the inside of my display looked different from all the ones i saw in other videos. Pretty sure my fridge came a scratch & dent store (recently moved in) and I'm guessing changed that part while refurbishing. I thought i would share in case anyone else ran into a similar situation. I ordered a different lever so hopefully this one will work.
Thank you for the video! Very informative and easy to follow. The only thing I went ahead and also did was replace the screw that was holding the display in the door. The original screw head was very rusty and was afraid I wouldn’t have been able to take it out later cause the head would probably broke off.
Best video ! Only problem we r having is getting the full screen part out. It doesn't budge. We have had two strong men in to remove it after unscrewing. Help!

I would call Samsung’s 800 number first. I’ve heard you can sometimes get some help from them especially if you haven’t owned it that long. Otherwise, just search TH-cam. I’ve see a lot of videos discuss the water line freezing.
Just look carefully at the video where I have it removed. Pay attention to the shoot where the ice comes out and note which piece is supposed to come out and which part isn’t. Then get a good grip and give it firm steady pressure until it pops out.
@@gailsboys I may be missing something, but the video explains how to replace a broken lever that has already fallen off. Can you explain what you are trying to accomplish?
I can't promise that you won't break it, but mine took a lot of force and it did not break anything. Others have reported that one or two of the plastic tabs broke, but it did not affect the operation of the refrigerator and it still locked back in place. Look at the tips I provided in the first comment in the list on this video.

Just look carefully at the video where I have it removed. Pay attention to the shoot where the ice comes out and note which piece is supposed to come out and which part isn’t. Then get a good grip and give it firm steady pressure until it pops out.
@@LifeHappensLetsFixIt how do you get the lever off to begin with and must it be removed to take the device off the door?
@@gailsboys I may be missing something, but the video explains how to replace a broken lever that has already fallen off. Can you explain what you are trying to accomplish?
Worst fridge ever... Gives me nothing but hell. Thank you though
I cannot get the assembly out ... I don't want to break it. 🤬
I can't promise that you won't break it, but mine took a lot of force and it did not break anything. Others have reported that one or two of the plastic tabs broke, but it did not affect the operation of the refrigerator and it still locked back in place. Look at the tips I provided in the first comment in the list on this video.
Samsung has by far the worst fridges on the market
Thanks for the guide. This helped a lot.
