Small correction, just because knowledge is good. A smaller A/R will actually make more boost at high RPM, but have much lower airflow resulting in less horsepower. It makes more boost at high RPM because boost is a measure of restriction and a small a/r will result in exhaust restriction. There are many reasons for this, but this is enough detail for a youtube comment.
@@2011chitsazzadeha boost is a restriction at the intake side, a/r is on the exhaust one You will lose boost with a too small a/r because eventually the engine will be flowing more than the turbo

The cast iron is a heat sinc. Aluminum expands more than cast iron. So the Bearing is going to take more heat with the aluminum housing, hence the oil has to be cooled faster for the lighter housing to last.
Our housings are investment-cast Nitronic stainless alloys. They're not aluminum, and they have a much higher temperature threshold than the original cast-iron housings.
I know it's a little late now but for next time you should use a thin film of 3M weather stripping cement on you freeze plugs before install. That just helps with the seal. I am almost positive you will be okay, but just a little FYI for next time
I l-o-v-e following your channel. I'm an avid engineering nut and petrolhead. Therefore I ofcourse have a very soft spot for rotaries. I've had the good fortune of seeing the 787B up close and personal at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 1998 and saw it at full chat, piloted by non other then Johnny Herbert, powering it's way along the Tertre rouge section of Le Mans in 2011. That literally brought me to tears. That iconic car has a healthy 700hp... Yours is gonna have how much? I can't wait for this jewel of a motor to see it giving it's all. Oh, and did I mention I've allways seen the FD3S as one of THE most sexy body designs? Keep up the great work there mate!

Rob, I want to see you add a 3rd spark plug like Mazda's LMP1 Car. You get far more combustion of available fuel. Think about how much power they made NA! Pretty much anyone building a 4 rotor needs boost to exceed 450hp. They were able to hit almost 700 NA. That motor, in theory would easily reach 1500 Hp at 20-25 pounds of boost.

Keep in mind that A/R is just a ratio of the area vs the radius of the housing. Even though the Tial housing has a higher A/R it may not necessarily outflow the T6 housing that Garrett included on your turbo. I am not as familiar with the newer V-band housings from Tial, but it very well could be a similar housing flow-wise, or potentially something in between a T4 and a T6 housing. So you might get more response, at the cost of top end performance compared to your original housing, even though the A/R is greater.

AR actually moves the spool: a smaller ratio will spool quicker, but make less boost at high rpm, a bigger one is lazier, but will flow better
