I would love to have you teach in my school. The childlike enthusiasm you exude, that smile and friendly style sans ego make you a perfect children's friend and teacher. :)
You're a great teacher and a great artist. I can tell that music flows into each and every aspect of your life, which is absolutely brilliant. Please upload more of your artwork to enlighten us better.
Namaste Mam! One of the best video lectures in this series! Mam, it's awesome to feel the spark in your eyes, explanation of music in every day language, and untiring enthusiasm..love the language of Atana!!
OMG, ma'am you are an encyclopedia of music! Or more correctly, creative music! Especially that "Ataana" explanation... Only a creative person can imagine and explain like this!!! Awesome Ma'am 👏👏👏
I wondered why you don't mention film songs while explaining or demonstrating a raga.... Then i got the answer. The way u present the raga is suffice,it automatically makes me travel and match the songs ! 😍
Your knowledge of music amazes me! Bravo!! The effect of Raga also depends on the listener and his life's experiences! Bowli wakes me up, Hildolam energizes! Pantuvarali sympathizes with my depressed mood, Subhapanthuvarali brings tears, mohanam makes me loving. I love megh malhar when its raining, I need Atana when it is snowing, I listen to Purya Dhansree (pantuvarali) at sunset and Yaman in the night time!
I am not competent to comment here but having been lifted up in the arms of our MS amma when I was a child in Nungambakkam where they lived next door, I have grown up with music. I was thinking of Sindhubhairavi. Sindhubhairavi. There is something deeply and poignantly special about this raagam. Not just because this makes one melt. Even Mand raagam makes one melt. So does Hamir Kalyani with its double madhyamam and nishadham. What's special about Sindhubhairavi? It makes you melt, but in addition, it takes you to a state of existence before you were born. It is an evening raagam. A sandhyaaraagam. I also call it the raagam of death. Sindhubhairavi takes you floating into the sands of the western deserts, wafting past the Indus and into the Arabian dunes, the evening sun being an ever reassuring witness, as you close your eyes and leave the body. It's a powerful raagam. Immensely powerful raagam I have always associated with a peaceful end. I always have tears in my eyes when I sing Sindhubhairavi. Very few raagams can do that. Technically, Sindhubhairavi is a raagam of all the swaras, allowing extreme freedom. It is a Varjas, meaning it thrives on deliberately skipping a swaram (in the avarohanam). I love Sindhubhairavi. Do you? :)
One of my favorites! I used to love Lalgudi's Thillana. It would be so rejuvenating!! And secondly, I would say that you are so lucky to have been even touched by MS Amma, I could fall at your feet, for it alone. 😊
OMG the conversation in Athana was so creatively hilarious!! Freakin awesome! Only you can do this! 😂 Thank you, please make more of these! I can listen to these forever!
Mam i feel the way you explain and perform to teach is very clear, even layman can understand the basics .. thank you so much for explaining in a way that anyone can understand.
Basically im a fine arts student also im learning 🎻 but u compare tha mood of ragas as painting and color palette thts was an amazing explanation mam. Thnq soooooo much.
I have heard in "Sampoorna Ramayana" that Dhanyasi is the raga for creating happiness mood.. There also seem to be exceptions such as the duet song "Vada maloare Thamizh thene" in Mukari !
As a veena student i always feel so happy to see your face expression in the stage and i use to think if there is a chance to meet you how you will express the music . That become real through cup o carnatic . Feeling really blessed mam . I need you blessing mam thank you

I remember GaneshKumaresh talking about Mukhari ; they demonstrated how the emotions of Mukhari changes based on the way it is presented. Also, in this episode you have proved that you are not only a great musician, you are an excellent presenter!
Dear mam, happy to listen to these lessons, am a music student could you pls teach us more like this ragas with moods and how to change them we are eagerly waiting mam. God bless you !!!
Wow ma'am! By chance came across this video and was just so intrigued just seeing the title of the video. Ragas affect my mooods so much and I have never seen an actual explanation for it anywhere! This was a really beautiful explanation. Thank you, take care ❤️☺️
Einstein once said "If you can't explain it, you haven't understood it". How many professional musicians can boast this much depth of understanding as Jayanthi Kumaresh?
Mam, what ragas does it become after changing the dha and ga from mohanam which you took as an example to explain change in raga once one swara is changed? How does one recognize the new raga that is being formed. Is there a way to figure it out?
When the Chathusruthi dhaivatham of Mohanam (D2) is changed to Suddha dhaivatham (D1), the raga changes to Vasanthi. You can find more about this raga here: th-cam.com/video/Cz5Qr8ZvnCo/w-d-xo.html

Suchitra Prabhu
The second one (change G3 to G2) is raag sivaranjani
When the Chathusruthi dhaivatham of Mohanam (D2) is changed to Suddha dhaivatham (D1), the raga changes to Vasanthi.
You can find more about this raga here:
