When you introduce the vertec to actual work it starts to fail. That fixed bollard where the tending pully used to be is a major design flaw. Unrealistic expectations of climbing on a new, fresh rope for each climb. Just throwing my line over a snowy limb made the rope too wet and dirty to work properly in the Vertec. To the point where tending rope slack became dangerous. Not sure how the device was field tested by Notch. My first use was a large Norway Maple removal and it failed miserably.

In the video I’m using Edelrid pure triple carabiner, and both in the video and at work this has not been a problem of what you’re talking about. I know and seen the problem you talking about and it’s been with some other carabiners.
And yes its weird that they didn’t see that problem before they started selling it, but with a thinner carabiner this is not a problem👌🏻

@@Arblifechannel I agree with ETSTreeCare. The Vertec does run very smoothly when descending, but I never had any problems with the descent performance of the RRP. I much prefer the ease of tending slack with a tending pulley at the bottom; this is what makes the RRP shine, in my opinion. The Vertec would be perfect if the pulley had remained. Maybe there's a chance they can offer an optional lower with an integrated pulley for those who want it to tend like the RRP. I really hope so.

@@johngiannetti. yeah, and they will probably come with an update very soon hopefully! Just a updated pulley or longer attachment point so it doesn’t get stuck like it does🙏🏻

cause you can’t fix stupid, they tried to improve that stupid rope runner pro design.. the akimbo and the rope runner pro are both garbage, and l have 2 of each thinking it was a good investment to buy 2 of each at the time (in case l really liked them), l used each device once and immediately thought they were garbage. l stick with what works without fail every time and that’s the unicender or hitch cords for me, all the other devices out there besides the unicender, petzl zigzag or hitch cords are complete garbage.

@@ztkrx 🤣 Already gave my vertec away. I thought the design changes made enough sense to finally give it a proper test since I had only ever tried other climbers set ups and wasn't about to take a deep dive into getting one "dialed" based on how shit they were. The performance of a well set up prusik system performs better in every way. The zig zag and uniscender a both kinda one trick pony's to me and find being able to throw a wrench on my system when necessary the best option for me.

Still don't get two systems like that... to have them that close, they must pretty much be on the same anchor. I know here the uk they implemented two because of anchor failure. Unless the tree is widespread, and you need another system for a better work position, etc, other than that, two on the same anchor is just ridiculous. There are two more tails to manage and more crap in your way. I don't bother unless absolutely necessary🤷🏻‍♂️

looks like it still runs a little once you stop descending

Yeah it was creeping little in the end because I was going up and down on the same spot on the rope. So it flattened out the rope little🤙🏻
