  • China Mulls Delayed Retirement, Sparks Anger | Vantage with Palki Sharma
China plans to raise retirement age to combat its population woes. The country’s retirement age remains one of the lowest in the world. Life expectancy in the country has risen to 78 from just 36 in 1949, so the country wants to delay retirement. But the plan to raise retirement age has sparked anger in China. Delayed retirement helps the government but is it good for the people? Is increasing life span the best argument to delay retirement?

In India, the retirement age is between 56 and 60, and people are retiring because there are no jobs available for others. New job seekers are waiting for existing employees to retire in order to enter the workforce.

Same in China..Many men above 45 are unemployed or underemployed. There are limits to becoming delivery riders or e-hailing drivers. Sure, govt can raise retirement ages but they need to keep the jobs till retirement age 60 or 65 or 70.

I haven't worked since 1998. all I do is play computer games, watch netflix, surf the net, gym, eat, sleep, ride bike. no vices like smoking, drinking, drugs, gambling, etc. my monthly rent for a 35sqm furnished studio that comes with a swimming pool, and cable tv is 140 dollars. how do I do it on less than 900 usa dollars a month you ask? 70% of the people in the world make less than 1000 usa dollars a month. save enough money where the interest on your money is enough to live on each month. and you are good to go. how much money is needed? 200k usa dollars x 5% interest = 10k dollars a year in interest.

Why does India like to compare with China, but China doesn't care about India? China doesn't see India as a threat or something to aspire for, then the reason is simple. Talk to any one. For a vast majority of them, India is a low income country, with poverty and misery everywhere. Watching india's street children is heart breaking. That's literally how the ordinary people views India. Business people that travel to India but never eat outside the hotel or only do selectively because they feel it is too ‘unclean’. Just take an aerial view of Shanghai and compare it to Bombay and it doesn't take a genius to figure out why that is. Remember, China is a middle income country (think Turkey or Mexico), while India is a low income country (think Pakistan or Bangladesh).

India is the only bordering country for china that can damage china, our military and airforce are increasing constantly, US will obviously support India, India has good relation with russia so it will not blindly support china in a war.
Due to china's policy a lot of companies want to manufacture elsewhere, India is most suitable
That's why India is a threat to china

    Not interested
Your labeling stereotyping elderly people in general .
Your observations and opinions are Foolish misleading. Example covering the entire age range some people were not Foolish enough to take loans for college or houses they could not afford even if they found a job. Generalizeding that all elderly people are in decline incompetent is a irresponsible statement. It is a case by case observation. This article targets the elderly for potential ambulance medical customer abuse.

Yes, all fraud call centers are from India. India earns $100 billion a year by swindling the world. Indians are proud of it.
