using the FCR with the gun from the back seat feels like cheating. slave FCR to HMD, look at target, scan once, fire a burst, nts, fire again, repeat as needed... stupid fun to do. i love this helicopter.
Casmo as always you are giving us tutorials showing things that no one else is showing. I never thought about using the FCR with rockets and guns! No other FCR tutorial has shown linking the FCR to the P-HMD or how to pull coordinates in from the scan the FCR has done. Great videos and great information as always.
I wish DCS had better shrapnel , shockwave and damage model simulations sometimes it feels like rockets do nothing to even unarmored targets like trucks. it would also be super cool to get something like nails especially for apache (hopefully in the future?) good video casmo 👍
Regarding controlling yaw for rocket shots: another trick i have found is that if you get the yaw stabilized 'close enough' to aligned, while in forward flight, you can use very tiny cyclic adjustments to fine-tune the alignment without it wanting to 'rebound' the way it does when using the pedals, so you can hold the alignment for a longer salvo.
Appreciate your chill delivery and clear instruction. I'd love to get a bit more detail from you regarding switchology (IE, which buttons you are pressing and when) but yours are the definitive Apache videos IMHO. Keep up the great content!
Cheers casmo. The rest of the fcr functions seem to be penned in for the next update (hopefully), hope you have the time for another video when they drop as well!
@@CasmoTVinteresting. It felt like before, any time I would raise the collective while picking up she would just want to tip over. But I know nothing about how the real bird flys maybe that was more accurate.
Does the FCR also update for moving targets? or is it a one time scan and it doesn't track it anymore? This works fine i think for static targets, but moving targets is harder. In my mission i like set vehicles to move or follow a road because its more realistic, unless your hitting a base or camp off course. Edit: Lol nevermind, i watched your previous video about the FCR. Only static targets with single scan. Unless you use continues scan mode (which you don't recommend)
Thanks for the video; title is a bit misleading though, I thought that we got actual radar-guided rockets ^^ Just a question: how is this more precise for dumb munitions (rockets, 30mm) than lasing? When lasing, canon rounds go anywhere but on the target in my experience.
Not misleading at all. As to your question I don’t know how to answer cause I never claimed it was. You’re missing with the laser cause you’re not doing something correctly. Check my video about how to use the gun.
@@CasmoTV that I did. Unfortunately I always end up having rounds all over the place and none on target. This is in the CPG seat while my pilot tries to go straight to the target, with auto-lock activated and the laser firing.
I hate to say this. But I have decided to stop flying the Apache. I started dcs last year because I wanted to learn the F16 and the Apache. I have spent hundreds of hours with the F16 and have gotten very comfortable with everything but Tanking. I can get gas but it's still not pretty. So I started with the Apache. I focused on controlling it 1st. After a few weeks I was showing good progress. I jumped back in the F16 and started making horrible mistakes.
I tried to learn the Apache but it’s too complex. Even just the waypoint system with its different types of waypoints and subsets of those:each with its own code. All I wanted was to be able to put a spot in space and select “next waypoint” with a button like the F-16, F-18, etc Couldn’t ever get it to click with my brain
Wait so the Pylons are actually adjusting to what the FCR is telling them to aim at in order to hit the targets? I had no clue i loved the apache this much until now. Now i’ve got to buy it and learn helicopter flight
How accurately "aligned" were the FCR and TADS in real life. Say if you scanned and saved some targets then slaved the TADS to them, would they be bang on, require some adjustment or only be in the ballpark and require you to find them?
Does the Apache display targets through the HMD in the real world, like it would with the waypoint home plate? If so, do you know if that’s something that ED is developing?
Casmo - in real life does the HMD show a cursor on the target position? For example, if you are in the CPG seat and slew the TADS, can you as the CPG see where the TADS is looking on your HMD in real life? And same for FCR, in your last piece of the video you just had range and azimuth info of where to point the nose but you couldnt see visually on the HMD where the target was - should we expect that coming to DCS? Or is that not a feature in real life?

I didn't know you could use the Rockts and the Gun with the FCR. Thanks for the video!
The Apache just keeps getting cooler and cooler!
when i shoot the rockets it goes to the next target on the fcr, dosent stay fixed on that one. Help

Since I recently started to give my Apache a little love since a while, it's great to get some nice tutorials on point by you. Cheers Milan

I use this to relax after long days of work.
Epic - Loving the series and the flight mode is improved. Still doing the drills you showed me!
Nah the FM is shit now. Idk who keeps tweaking it but I’m walking away again.

Great video! So glad I just got an Apache collective to key up with all these key binds.
Thanks for the presentation! Love watching this module's development progression!👍
Your Apache videos are much appreciated!
This is a nice, kind comment.
Great video Casmo! thanks for dumbing down the apache for folks like me!
“I’ve only got two hands, forgive me.” 😂
OMG, I didnt even know it did that. Thats awesome. Thanks for the info!
damn, I wish for APKWS II system for Apache in DCS...
Cool. I will have to mess with the radar some now
Another great vid mate

Watch my video about rockets
QUESTION:
5:05 --- would it be a good technique to do one more radar scan after you begin your run in to update the range?
If you do that you run the risk of it selecting a different target as the primary
Hi Casmo, quick question: can the gun/rocket/missiles be fired while aircraft is on the ground with ground override button on?
How accurately "aligned" were the FCR and TADS in real life. Say if you scanned and saved some targets then slaved the TADS to them, would they be bang on, require some adjustment or only be in the ballpark and require you to find them?
Couldn’t say. We didn’t play with FCR in my day. Too busy looking for dudes who buried bombs and hid behind women and children.
Hey Casmo, have you ever made your own custom livery for Apache or have considered it? If so you should make a video on it.
No I haven’t. Not really in my wheel house of skills.
pretty new to dcs. but can u still use TADS while the FCR is on? I've tested this and cant seem to use it while scanning with FCR
No, each seat can only select one sight at a time.

Nope, I don’t like mods if I can avoid them
Is it weird flying with yourself in the front seat?
I never use George 🤷🏻♂️
