I just finished the Dempster. My key piece of advice...do NOT hurry. Take your time. There is so much to see. If you have time to stay a few days in an awesome spot...do it.

I live 16 kilometers from the start of the Dempster Highway. I know it can be challenging but it's not as bad as everybody thinks, and definitely not as bad as it used to be when the road was covered in chert. I have been a fan of itchy Boots since she first started in fact, so quite a few years now. Living in the Yukon, I am much more of a snowmobile rider now. it is the easiest way to get around up here!

Didn't imagine I'd be called 'brave' - doesn't always feel like it - but I sure do appreciate it! BTW just wait for next episode - you'll love Greg's musings and ponderings...

I love your banter between each other and it’s funny that I thought you must come across Itchy boots. Love your honesty about the Dempster. looking forward to the next one🏍

Banter is definitely part of our special sauce 🤣. As you reach further and further north, it starts to become like a bottle neck. More and more likely you will cross paths with others in the area. Great happenstance to run across her in such a bustling metropolis...!

Loved the video, amazing ride. Felt bad to see the crash and glad that Moxie was ok :) Maybe will copycat your ride someday- but I have a big heavy Bandit 1250s- hopefully will get a small adv machine or replace the Bandit with a Tiger or something. But thanks for sharing your journeys and wish you all the best with the fundraising. Subscribed!!!

Happy that your road crossed Noraly's, so now I can follow you on your ride! Hope you will be able to continue your planned routes around Africa and into Europe next year's summer, exiting! Greetings from the Netherlands🚐🏍🏍🛵🚲🐕

Yeah, what a fortunate thing to come across her on the road - and in such a tiny town like Chicken, Alaska! We have every plan an intention of traveling through Africa and Europe - but first we're on the way south to Antarctica - tip to tip, top to bottom!

I listened to your explanation about your anxiety surrounding the Dempster and I fully understand. I think the build up and stories prepare one for a total nightmare. In July '22 I did have a pretty good crash, just south of Fort McPherson that ended my journey north but it wouldn't stop me from trying again. Your videos are beautifully produced and I was able to give my wife a good idea of what I experienced and I appreciate that. Good luck with the rest of your trip!

Just stumbled over this channel and still don’t know what it is about, but love the editing of it. Nice changes between talking and landscape footage. 👍 I’m currently travelling with my motorcycle here in Chile and just recently got my visa for the USA, so now I’m dreaming of doing the Dempster Highway next year. May I ask you what time of the year you were touring this Highway?
Great video, thanks for sharing! Greetings Jens!

So thrilled you found us and I really appreciate the kind words. Congrats on your travels and on the plans to head up north next year. We rode the Dempster in late July and early August. It was a great time to go but the bad weather seems to come and go throughout the summer. We hit days of sunshine and days of rain and mud (stay tuned!). Good luck on your travels!

About a year ago we rode through New Mexico in a 1,000 mile dash in 24 hours to California. We called it an 'Iron Tail' ride 🤣. We have loads of other K9 Moto Cockpit riders in Texas and around the country so you might have spotted one of them?!?

Just curious if you had to make any special provisions to bring your dog into Canada?

    • @GoRUFFLY
      @GoRUFFLY  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

No special provisions at all. We had her rabies vaccine and shots up to date and documented on her health certificate. That should be sufficient although the customs agents never asked to see the documentation.

@@GoRUFFLY The agents were too busy petting and admiring the beautiful Moxi. She is so cute. I love Shepards and labs. 😊 I love that seat she has to ride on, although I was worried about her tail getting caught up in the back tire. But she seems to enjoy it.
I just found your channel today after your Dalton highway versus Dempster highway video showed up in my suggestion tab (whatever it’s called). I started watching your channel with the trip up the Dempster and I’m now on the bison video. I grew up in Alaska and have driven the Alcan 5 times, so I know about that area of Canada. I’ve never been on the Dalton or the Dempster, but I think you made a good choice going up the Dempster, even though it was a crappy road. I’m surprised they haven’t paved it yet. I admire your dedication going up there on motorcycles, very adventurous.
I look forward to watching the rest of your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing and stay safe on those motorcycles.
PS > I grew up riding dirt and street motorcycles but stopped years ago when it got too crazy and unsafe where I live. So I can relate to how much fun you are having. 😊
