I didn’t use replacement quarters, because I wanted to add the flared lip for a little more tire coverage and to add a little shape to the sides of the truck. With the exception of one supplier, all of the rockers I found were in 18 or 20 ga metal and fairly expensive for what you actually get. They aren’t that hard to make and I wanted fairly thick metal, so they will last basically forever now. Thanks for watching!
It very well could be hiding some missing body line, but no that trim or most likely something very similar has been on the truck as far back as I can remember. May be that my Grandfather put it on originally or possibly even the dealer when he bought it. I’m going to try to find a new version of the same and replace it. I do know the driver door came off of a donor truck we had in the mid 80’s and so that trim was either reinstalled or replaced at that time. Thanks for watching, I’ll look and see if there is a body line hidden under the trim (or if it was bonded over by the last body shop.)
So just out of curiosity why didn't you just skin in a new rocker and quarters. I always find it quicker to throw panels at it vs patching?
