FWIW if you need to insulate this more than it already is- say just for winter, go to Home Despot, or Lowes or where ever and by a $12 sheet of "Foam Insulating Sheathing", 4'x8'. Its basically Styrofoam with aluminum foil on it. Its the same stuff some folks use to line a Fed-Ex box to ship snakes. Cut it to fit the side slots and or the back slots if you want to cover it all and just tape it in place. Instant, cheap insulation that will hold heat and moisture.
Thanks Brian, I just try and help any one I can. I know when I was searching for racks for the first time I wish there was a video like this out there for me to watch. Haha that would be pretty sweet if they did send me a check lol. Have a good one, and thanks for your comment.
I appreciate the video's guide. Just got my Combo economy snake rack from animal plastics, 3 layer rack for $122, last Friday and needed a bit more help how to set it up, so that I don't set the pieces in the wrong place. Thank you.
i appreciate the response. yea the target website lists the latched sterilite tubs as 6hx16.88wx24.12l and AP site says the dimensions should be 6x17x23 1/2. so the target ones are a little longer which is what worries me. i think i will try emailing them and see where it gets me. again i appreciate the video and reply. keep up the good work!
Would it be fine to use a rheostat instead of the thermostat? It seems to work pretty well for me, the only difference that I found is that with the rheostat I had to pay attention to see whats the highest the temperature would go it each setting while the thermostat does in automatically. I would recommended a thermostat if you live in a place where it can get too hot or too cold at randomly since it would control the temperature with you having to do anything. Rheostats go for like $30 while thermostat go for over $100. ---For those who might have the same questions.
Heya, what is the model/make of the rack system you've just built? I'm thinking of doing 2 in each row (side by side) to house leopard geckos instead. Im in the UK do they ship over here? Many Thanks James
hey sinsity, great video as usual. very helpful for those thinking about purchasing this rack. which i am, but i do have a question. i heard word that sterilite changed the style and dimensions of their tubs that are used for housing snakes. the 28qt tubs my local target has arent the same dimensions listed on the AP site. did you come across this problem or nor of a way around it? thanks in advance.
I never say how much I spent on things on my channel...sorry I have the website in the description you can go to there website and find out there if you are interested
hummm I have never had a problem with tub sizes so???? I cant really answer that one. sorry. You can probably give AP a call and tell them what size the new tubs are and see if the website is just wrong or whats going on.
Just make sure that the watts your thermostat is labeled as is more or the same watts as the heat tape. I'm guessing you figured it out by now since this is old but if anyone else is needing to know...that's how you determine that. Example : if your thermostat says it goes to 100 watts and your heat tape says 80 watts than you are good to go
Love Animal Plastics. I replaced my home made racks with them and just flat out LOVE them.
