Sweet! The Temptations were awesome -- "My Girl", "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", "Get Ready", "The Way You Do the Things You Do", "Papa Was A Rollin Stone", "(I Know) I'm Losing You", "Ball of Confusion", "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)", "I Can't Get Next to You", "Cloud Nine" along with many others. The Temptations were so great even The Rolling Stones covered their songs "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" in 1974 and "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" in 1978. The Four Tops were another great Motown act in the same style as The Temptations -- "Baby I Need Your Loving", "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)", "It's The Same Old Song", "Bernadette", "Ask The Lonely", "Reach Out, I'll Be There", "Standing in the Shadows of Love" -- Check them out too when you can.
one of the top if not the top voices to come out of Motown EVER. Saw the Temps once , opened for the Supremes, big mistake. The Supremes should have opened up for them.
I was at the Motown Museum in Detroit a few years back and they said that the studio piano was broken. They said it was last used by the Temptations (this was in the Studio part). When Paul McCartney came to town that summer for a show, he found out about the piano and had it sent it to Steinway & Sons in New York to have it repaired. There is a TH-cam video about it. What a nice gesture to keep the music alive. Everyone loves Motown and songs like this are why!
Asia & BJ, I'd recommend their "My Girl" and "I Can't Get Next to You" next! They are part of what made 60s/early 70s music great!!! David Ruffin on lead vocals for this one!
One of the greatest groups of the 60s!!! Every song is worth listening to!! An excellent live version of one of their best, I Wish It Would Rain, is available on youtube. My Girl was probably their biggest hit. The Temps also did some songs with their female counterparts at Motown, The Supremes -- the absolute GOAT among girl groups. I'm Gonna Make You Love Me is probably the best of their collaborations. And if you haven't yet listened to The Supremes, put them high up on your MUST LISTEN TO list!!! My favorite of theirs is My World Is Empty Without You. Where Did Our Love Go was their first hit in 1964. I Hear A Symphony is another great one. Can't go wrong with The Temps, The Supremes, or any of their other Motown family!!
Original Temptations gold! The original 5 nailed it every time... Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams and David Ruffin.. bless these men! I know the names because I lived it! Thank you for posting this!
The Temptations were pioneers and a cornerstone of the foundation of Motown sound. David Ruffin was the singer on this song, but Dennis Edwards was the front man on later songs, Ball of Confusion and Papa was a rolling Stone
Saw the Temptations at The Motown Tribute at the Greek Theatre many years ago!! My friend was a musician so we had pretty good seats. Crowd went crazy when Stevie Wonder walked in to take his seat! Great moment & great memory!! Spinners, O’Jays, Stylistics ….
Been watching y'all for a while now and you have become two of my favorites. What impresses me most is how much you have grown since a year ago. The music takes me back to different, and I must say, happier times. You can't possibly know what a treat it is to watch people like yourselves hear for the first time the music I loved so much when I wore a younger man's clothes.
Davis Ruffin was the vocal acrobat of his day. His voice was not as sultry as Marvin and Sam Cook but his ability to jump all over the vocal chart in one song was second to none.
Temptations are the shit! Massive talent, impeccable vocals, top notch performers. Legends pure and simple. 🙏😍 Follow the suggestions below and dive on in 👍 oh, the days of romantic lyrics 💞 O'Jays right behind them - check out "for the love of Money"
Bj I love your reactions and comments❤️ got me smiling & laughing😂 I don’t think you need to worry about Asia’s DNA when it comes to anything Motown cos it’s right there in her smile and then the beat drops and boom💥 she’s all up in the groove!! Can you feel it???😂haha I certainly can. Love this💞
I love The Temptations and all Motown music, I miss this kind of music! My older brother and sister would have friends over and play their “45” records and we all would dance and sing
Remember riding around in my '57 Chevy listening to the Temps on my 8 track tape player. My absolute favorite Motown group and David Ruffin RIP was the best!
You should react to the Rolling Stones' version of this song too. They also covered "My Girl", "Just My Imagination" and one other Temptations' song that is escaping me now.
papa was a rolling stone from Soul Train. Not only The Temptations biggest hit, but considered the best song from early 70s funk.Have you guys done it yet?
The Temptations and The Four Tops started all that....the dance moves....the vocals......the style of clothing......R & B......that has been defined as "The Motown Sound" it was the Temptations....being very successful in 1964 that other companies started looking and signing other acts similar to them to make money ...of course.....
Thanks for the trip down memory lane with this 1966 Whitfield and Holland Jr classic. Hit the Billboard Pop Chart peaked at number 13 a nd was number one for No.1 for eight non-consecutive weeks on the Billboard R&B Chart.
I am old as dirt - but I stil lsay the music I had in High School is the best the very best. Dances on Friday and Saturday night with 45's. Motown, Beatles, Stones. righteous brothers Just the best

Great song. Happy to see you two review some soul classics. A soul classic you've most likely heard I'd like you to review is: Sitting On the Dock of the Bay. Ottis Redding. The Soul music of the 1960's and 1970's List could go on forever.

I wish it would rain.
David Ruffin was one of the greatest soul singers of all time. No cap!
one of the top if not the top voices to come out of Motown EVER. Saw the Temps once , opened for the Supremes, big mistake. The Supremes should have opened up for them.
The Temptations are legendary! Papa Was a Rolling Stone is one of my all time favorites.
Motown is a huge piece of America's the catalog of music. So good.
Motown.I was 10 in 1964 so I got it all.
Can’t put into words the good times we experienced back in the glorious 60’s,and Motown was front and centre.
I was at the Motown Museum in Detroit a few years back and they said that the studio piano was broken. They said it was last used by the Temptations (this was in the Studio part). Check out their signature ballad, “My Girl,” which begins with one of the most iconic bass lines in recorded music history!
This is the MEAT of Motown! David Ruffin deserved to be the center of attention. Just an AMAZING singer!
Love the Temps, one of Motown's best groups. This is one of my favorites, along with "Get Ready", "I Can't Get Next To You" and "I'm Losing You".
Thank you so much for this. Temptations are a American jewel.
I love the Temptations! They were at their best in the early years when David Ruffin (leading on this song) and Eddie Kendricks was there! ❤️❤️
My all time favorite group of all time. Their music is timeless and forever. Temptations Forever!

Classic Motown. Love that music.
One of my all-time favorite groups; and I primarily listen to metal. David Ruffin is the man. Singing like his, inspired metal vocals.
Papa Was a Rolling Stone is gem!
A classic that's still grooved too!
Temptations are with the most legendary performers in history! Have so many hits and you might not even realize it's them..Ruffin is legend 😎
Legends. Their songs are on so many Hollywood movies.
Yes, they are the full package so not only sang but danced and always looking sharp and good-looking!
If David Ruffin read the newspaper out loud it would move me , nobody sang songs with more believability, passion, imho the greatest soul singer
The LEGENDARY Iconic Temptations
When you look in the dictionary for the definition of "iconic" this is one of the songs listed!
Been watching y'all for a while now and you have become two of my favorites. What impresses me most is how much you have grown since a year ago. I grew up with Motown Soul and these guys were at the top! Thanks for taking me back! :)
There is a fabulous video. Temptations dancing is classic. Squats I sure can’t do anymore.
Davis Ruffin was the vocal acrobat of his day. His voice was not as sultry as Marvin and Sam Cook but his ability to jump all over the vocal chart in one song was second to none.
Classic gold. When men had no problem expressing they hurt too.
I Wish It Would Rain is a must listen
