These tips are all SO HELPFUL! With the company I work with, we do matterport tours for each property. It can be frustrating when there are people, pets, kids, and realtors walking around and talking as you try to get it done.

Good stuff as always Nathan! I usually start on the main floor, then 2nd floor, then basement, then I do backyard and front so I can go to the car and switch to the filming gear. It's definitely easier to plan when the house is vacant... but when you're trying to work around home owners, stagers and the realtors... that's tough! lol Thanks for all the info.

Two very relevant videos on the trot. I work outside the U.S and have had to develop a professional approach to shooting in every aspect of my business. It was, with amusement and not a little pleasure that the approach I independently took to approaching the shoot happened to be in line with your experienced thoughts. Only 10% of my business is lower end MLS, the rest is mid to high end business in real estate, rental and interior design. My advice? Learn, learn, learn, shoot, shoot a little more (then learn) Do your apprenticeship..........

Excellent tutorial Nathan. Anxiety management is an ongoing project. I shoot 360s and it seems every agent wants to watch me do the first sequence, from behind my back, obviously. Argh...

Great tips! I’ve definitely seen an improvement in both the quality of my work and my efficiency onsite by just planning the shoot a little better.

Love it! I shoot a lot in my neighborhood and sellers want to chat. Now I know how to politely limit that distraction!

Tip 4 would have saved me on a shoot if I had taken a tour of the property! Had a language/accent barrier, a person swirling their cell phone around like they were waltzing with it as they made their own videos and kept getting into my shots, and a very rushed pace (they allotted me less than an hour) at a large luxury property. So, after being told to only shoot the staged rooms but not to shoot the bedrooms, they were unhappy that I "missed" the main bedroom, which turned out to be staged. Tip 4 would definitely have prevented that in this case because it would have provided me with an opportunity to nail down their expectations better.

I always try to use a laundry room for a gear room because I rarely shoot them.
