This is an excellent guide. It came in handy when we were setting up a unit in addition to the training we received from our PD Nurse.

Thank you so much. I’ve been using my Amia for 1 year and yet I still learned new important information today

Can I ask, how was the experience? I am 42 and getting ready to have cath put in in prep incase I need it before a transplant / my donors are ready .

This cycler could be modern but, honestly it's annoying and loud. Not to mention that doesn't have a patient extension line, so in my case I can't reach my bathroom. I prefer the Baxter Pro, easy to set up and easy shouting down.

For anyone concerned about distance between patients and the bathroom, position the cycler midway. You have 20 ft of patient line and 20 ft of drain line. Remember to run hot water after draining in a sink or small drain or crystals can form blocking the drain.

Thanks for sharing this video. My eGFR is on the cusp of full-out failure. I’m weighing my options and trying to decide if I even want to go through dialysis three times a week or any home options.

So it doesn’t matter which white line you use to connect to the second bag?

Wow. Isn't 12 hours too long?

My husband does 11 hours, and Dr. Gupta is talking about extending it to 12 hours.

@@dearmaryellen Wow! I don't know what I would do if I had to lay down for that long. My PD nurse told me I'll be doing 9 hours. Depending on how things go, because I still make urine, they may take it from 7 days to 5.
