Long story short:
Boris has rich bad-tempered grandfather and 2 cousins that wanted the inheritance money of grandpa so when grandpa got cancer the 2 cousins tried to make him happy and stuff. But Boris was always the favorite that ACTUALLY cared about grandpa when sick and stuff so in the end Boris got the money and happy.

He taught his sons very well and the one grandson that he actually loved he taught him well because he would come and visit all the time not out of money but out of love and respect. There's some talk about how the grandpa's kinda gruff and ill-tempered, but he can't be all that bad.
