This is still one of my most memorable childhood games. The music, the levels, the bosses, everything. You did better on the bosses than I remember doing myself a long time ago! XD
When I played the remake version and I was so thrilled at hearing the updated re-mixed original soundtrack I was like "OMG I can't WAIT to hear how they do the Boss Theme, so excited" :D Until I reached the 1st Boss and was like "Wait wha...? Where...where's the awesome Boss Theme? WHERE?!" :( Seriously WTF were they thinking?! Of all the music they removed the Boss Theme? The best one from the original's classic?! God how I was so pissed off with that! >:( Thankfully the remake has the option to use the original Mega-Drive soundtrack mix so of cause on future playthroughs the original mix gets chosen the played all the time since. :) I'm just gutted we'll never hear the re-mix version of the Boss Theme. Ah well.
Here lemme tell you something that'll REALLY surprise ya' They didn't remix the Genesis Boss theme for the Castle of Illusion Remake But they DID remix it Just in a *non-Castle of Illusion* game For the Final Boss of "Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion", this theme will play in a remastered version. Keep in mind Power of Illusion has literally almost nothing to do with Castle of Illusion yet they put Castle of Illusion boss music in it But for the direct Castle of Illusion remake? Nope. No Castle of Illusion boss music.
I didn't know that, how interesting! Do have a TH-cam link for that re-mix version? :) Now having found this out this just makes it even more frustrating than I previously thought! Means they CAN do the Boss re-mix, they just chose not to include it in this game! Grrrrrr.
Watching all of this together really makes it hit me that the boss fights of my childhood were all basically a variation of stomping people with your butt...
My subtitles for these bosses: The Grumpy Old Oak - Tumbling Tree Trunk Calliope the Clown - Crazy Crated Clown Merpeople - Ancient Aquatic Army Treat Dragon - Lanky Licorice Lizard The Oaf - Bumbling Bully Bellman Mizrabel - Whiny Wicked Witch
I managed to complete this game and was disappointed when the ending .. I mean gosh ... the nutcracker stage was so tough and all I get is the dance and The End? LOL ... Mind you, we didn't have Google at that time!
This game rules indeed (and the Boss Tune is really interesting) ! But World of Illusion (Mickey & Donald) is way better ! And Castle/Land of Illusion on Master System are quite wonderful too !

MICKEY collected all the magic gems. MICKEY can now turn into EPIC MICKEY.
The Pete's Dragon boss was always my fave. But I loved this game, this was a fantastic platformer in the pre-sonic days.

I really do wonder why they chose not to put it into the remake..
